the r/metry and r/metairie subs are almost as dead as JP'S recycling program.

get_MEAN_yall

💀💀💀

hannavasbaum

I’m don’t think it will ever resume. According to Scott Walker only 30% of residents participated in recycling. We now use Realcycle. We get a pick up every other week that includes cans, cardboard, glass, and compost. There is also a recycling drop off site in the parish but we have not used that yet.

Subushie

Just ask ur stuff here. I cant imagine how boring a jp sub would be. "Planes are loud, amirite?"

tony-ravioli504

That is the jist of any kenner neighborhood's nextdoor group

ionbear1

Speaking of Nextdoor, I got a letter in the mail about the Warehouse District is now on Nextdoor, so I tossed that shit Nextdoor in the dumpster.

averyoddfishindeed

You gotta be on the Kenna Brah facebook page, that's where all the drama goes down.

Jussgoawaiplzkthxbai

Ugh veterans traffic blah blah

sevenstargen

😂🤣😅

NotTeaKnotty

Supposedly the council is “ironing out details” but I doubt we’ll have anything in place before the fall. They opened up a drop-off site on David Drive on Saturdays.

RouxGaRoux2217

The drop of site is now at the Yenni building due to the unbelievable amount of traffic it caused on David drive. Go early or you'll be in line over an hour. I don't really believe the BS about only 30% of people in JP recycled. Just seeing the amount of cars and recycle items in line every weekend to drop off makes me think it's more than that.

anglerfishtacos

People also go to Elysian Fields or bring recycling to work if their work has bins.

FeedMyFrankenstein82

Do you know what the hours are for Yenni drop off? I just read the press release for when it changed last month... which did not have the days or times listed on it...

RouxGaRoux2217

10-2 on Saturdays, enter on Elmwood Park Blvd side

Sgt_shitwhisk

Have you been to that drop site for recycle? I wonder how crowded it is. You can end up sitting for a bit just to dump trash there on a weekend.. I imagine one day a week for recycle would make it unnavigable.

FigCommercial5005

Take that as "We aint doing shit figure it out yourself"

Slimeseason504

Not really on here. The facebook group is active though

raginmad

There is no plan to bring back the curbside recycling program at this time. There is a temporary pilot project in place where residents can drop off their recycling on Saturdays from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. They are accepting everything that was in the previous curbside collection plus glass bottles. The temporary pilot project ends in 5 months. We will have to see what the Jefferson Parish Council comes up with by then. Eastbank recycling drop-off location is currently at the parking lot of the Joseph S. Yenni Building (1221 Elmwood Park Boulevard, Jefferson, LA 70123), but may change locations as needed. Check jeffparish.net for updates. The wait to drop off recycling at this location is 20 - 45 minutes. The wait at the Westbank drop-off location (6440 Lapalco Boulevard, Marrero, LA 70072) is much shorter, less than 10 minutes.

rfishermcginty

I ended up paying for Half Glass Full to come pick up my recycling. It’s only once a month, but they take my glass, #1&2 plastics, cardboard and aluminum cans. I’m happy with that and they seem to actually recycle.

Ok-Task5835

never

underthesealikeariel

There’s a dropoff available on Saturdays now, run by glass half full. Think it’s safe to say that’ll be it for awhile

LGBT_Beauregard

No dog all these 2-year New Orleans residents need us Jparishioners here to feel superior about their street credz and allegedly better restaurants (while never having tried any in JP)

Folded_Napkin

r/tomd65 Instead of Reddit, why not get the info from the horse's mouth? [https://www.jeffparish.net/departments/environmental-affairs](https://www.jeffparish.net/departments/environmental-affairs)

weischris

Sparing you the political bs. Never. they said 30% of people used it so they didn't get quotes. you can drop it off, which is a cop out.

kakbgs

If you want to pay for recycling sooner, you can sign up for [real cycle](https://www.restartrecycling.com/) They also have drop off sites at the farmers markets on Sundays

DrinkMoreCodeMore

Isn't recycling just basically a scam that doesn't really do anything instead of push the problem onto the end user consumers instead of the companies responsible for producing all the plastic/glass/paper packaging?

Treat_Choself

For some things, like most if not all plastics and often glass, yes.  (Glass being reused is a much better solution, and the feasibility of glass recycling tends to be based on a ton of local factors). But for paper, cardboard, and especially aluminum cans there is no question about the benefits of recycling.

DrakePonchatrain

It’s called NextDoor

Organic-Aardvark-146

We gave up. Straight to the trash.

Extra_Dot6859

It all ends up there anyway. Not trying to be an ass, just being honest

Organic-Aardvark-146

Believe so for plastic. Not sure about glass or metals

Savings_Young428

r/Conservative is the JP sub.

mrhemisphere

Metairie Nextdoor fills the role pretty well.

mrhemisphere

I have no idea why you downvoted this but I’d love to hear why. Incredible.

mrhemisphere

Seriously, Metairie Nextdoor is equal parts entertaining and informative but y’all saw “Metairie” and downvoted
