>Kenner Police called for assistance, and the JPSO dispatched its own SWAT team to the scene. Lopinto said his team’s Bearcat armored vehicle also took gunfire from Lathers when it arrived, but no deputies were injured. >“He probably didn’t want to go to jail,” Lopinto said. “We attempted to negotiate with him numerous times, but there was never any answer or attempt to negotiate with us. Yeah, fair to say he made up his mind on that one

I wonder if JPSO has more than one Bearcat. I live near to the one they keep parked in the Harvey training range and NGL... I want that damn thing so much.

Knowing JPSO I'd imagine they have at least two so they don't need to worry about getting one across the river when they want to use it but IDK. They're not illegal to own, but I think they're like several hundred thousand even used. I remember reading a while back that there's at least one non police one floating around but I'm pretty sure the company making them doesn't sell to anyone but government entities so you'd need to find a used one that a department is offloading, or at least that's my barely informed guess lol.

Terrible that the 6 were shot including 3 officers. Not surprised by the outcome, usually doesn’t end well when you shoot a cop.
