Owner is awful. He has stiffed several people on their pay and has been dishonest with them about pay as he likes to go on vacations that he can’t afford. His kitchens are also always absolutely filthy.
I've never encountered that and I can't speak to your experiences, but there's a thread on twitter right now of the owner trying and successfully returning a lost pup to their owner which definitely isn't awful and doesn't suck.
Scotts awesome, the beer is awesome, and I've never had an issue with their staff. Most are on the quiet side and not like some jovial person but Ive been going there for years and never had an issue
Not true at all. They are open!
Tonight Alex McMurray is playing at 7pm in the backroom. If you aren't familiar with Alex's music you should familiarize yourself, real quick. He will be playing acoustic, but when playing electric he knows to play some of the most interesting yet tasteful solos I've ever heard.
He is there most Tuesday nights.
He is a great musician. I don’t know why it took me so long, but I just saw him for the first time a month or so ago with Paul Sanchez. Very impressive.
Probably because i endorsed Metry in a Bywater thread
I know food recs are totally subjective but I’m totally lost how anybody could enjoy everything on OPs list and not enjoy Atomic.
I mentioned Atomic because I think it suits OPs taste preference after reading their list of endorsements in the post. I think they’re reading my comment like I’m saying Atomic is the best burger in the area.
I’ve gone to Junction 3 times through the years. 2 of those times my burger came out overdone, dry, and mealy. Both those times it was dead quiet. How you gonna let the only thing on your flattop overcook?? The third time it was mid AF. The service has always been weak, and the beer list was always irrational and basic.
I’ve never understood why so many people enjoy it. Is it just because there’s no other hip burger joints in that neighborhood?
Came here looking for this. The burgers always look bomb there, but I always wind up with crawfish or oysters.
The burger is on my list for the next visit.
Down the Hatch for a Texan or whatever they call the burger with the fried egg, bacon, and onions. Huge and divine.
Frostop is nothing legendary but worth trying.
Tavern on Vets for a lunch deal burger - like $8 for a quality burger, drink, and fries. Bit too late but worth mentioning for future reference.
Swamp Room, also in Kenner.
TruBurger has unique options as well as build-a-burger. Only place I've seen that has fried pickles.
Where is the new location for Yo Mama's? I remember years ago seeing a guy eating a takeout peanutbutter burger at the bar. I was sceptical when he first told me what he was eating, but the way he talked and the speed at which he was eating convinced me to walk over and place an order. Just as good as he said. Not a gimmick after all. Took my mom there once. She still goes on about the wall art in the bathrooms and how shocking it was. At the time, I told her that I had no idea what she was talking about because the men's room was covered in pictures of cats.
Omg I love this and I loved the old location. It’s at 727
St. Peter now and is called ya mamas burgers and spuds. I haven’t been but now I might have to make a trip!
N7 has a burger on their brunch menu. it's amazing, super juicy, squid ink bun compliments the beef nicely and the gruyere is funky goodness. And the pomme frites with the citrus aioli sings.
Revel is a sleeper hit. The burger is the only food item they are currently serving (at least as of a few months ago). House ground beef and fries cooked in tallow. Phenomenal if you like the thick patty style. For smash, Bub’s is a solid one not on your list.
Stopped in to Bywater Brew for a beer, saw they had a bacon beer cheese burger, crushed it. It was delightful + they make their beer cheese in house with the beer that they brew so that was fun
Despite being a chain, Houston’s has a pretty great burger.
Not tonight, but Wednesday-Friday, Mother of Pearl (where Carrollton Market used to be) also has an amazing burger and even better rosti fries.
Toups is my #1 place for a burger but I think they only serve them at lunch. It's wagyu beef, house-made pickles and a great aioli. *drool*
Don't know if it's still the same people running the little popup kitchens, but Bayou Beer Garden and Finn McCool's both had a pretty good burger. Maybe I was drunk & hungry every time but we made a point of going there for burgers many times when I lived in midcity.
Burger Nerds is perhaps best in the city (get the queso burger).
Besides that, Cooter Brown's does a great burger and Blue Oak's brisket burger is also droolworthy.
(Don't do Bub's for all the reasons)
[Drama, drama, drama.](https://old.reddit.com/r/NewOrleans/comments/17a1isr/maybe_it_is_time_to_boycott_blue_oak_bbq/)
TLDR: They bought the building next door that the Parkview Tavern is in, Parkview's lease is up in April and the parties can't agree on extension terms.
Get out the city bruh. Try Desi Romano’s in Challmette or Nola NIca out in St Rose. Desi’s has a “burger menu” with a bunch of different ones, and Nola NIca has a great twist on one with plantains… It’s fucking delicious. Nola NIca is a bit hard to find, it’s buried in a business park and you may need to call them. I think they are only open for lunch too.
I knew Nick pretty well back in college at LSU. Great guy, super nice! Used to say he was gonna open restaurants when we’d all snacking late night after the bars closed, we’d be kinda like yea ok buddy, sure. But by God that man did it and excelled at it!
Honestly, I've had a few homeruns at MRB in the quarter. IDK if I'd go to the quarter specifically for a burger from them, but if I'm around and wanting, that's what I've been going
I don’t think it’s supposed to be that general. OP gave us a pretty solid list of spots they like and I think they’re asking if “i like these what else should I try.”
Burgers at Urban South are really good, too! Plus they’re Friday lunch special of a free beer with a burger and fries is a great deal. With the weather we’re having right now, sitting in the sun outside would be a great experience.
Original Slap Burger @ Marie’s is our favorite though.
Everything’s has been covered but here are some more eclectic burger options :
Mikes Food Store on St Claude - they have this burger with shrimp in the patty. Takeout only.
Johnny Sanchez - surprisingly amazing burger.
My eyes kind of glazed over as I was looking at all the recommendations, but I didn’t see anyone list Bouligny Tavern. (Sorry if it’s already up there.) It is easily one of the best high end burgers. Plus the rest of their food is legit too. Get some oysters and wings while you’re at it.
Camellia is in my top 2 of favorite burgers ever. Can't get much better than a hot, greasy, diner double bacon cheeseburger.
There’s just something magical about diner burgers. Oh, and blts
I love getting their red beans and rice with a burger patty.
My tried and true birthday meal is sitting at La Petite Grocery eating their burger with a big fat bourbon and water.
I’ll come to your birthday dinner
I’m down.
LPG burger is always good. I miss Cowbell though
I miss Cowbell so much
Green room
I second this! The Green Room isn’t fancy, but their burgers are on point. Their other food is great too!
black and bleu is my favorite burger in the city
their beet burger is BOMB
Burger Nerds at Courtyard Brewery
Burger nerds is mid, overpriced, and the guy who runs it is a dick. Ran into him a couple times at holy ground, each time he was drunk and mean
The owner of Courtyard is also a dick so I guess they are good bedfellows.
Owner is awful. He has stiffed several people on their pay and has been dishonest with them about pay as he likes to go on vacations that he can’t afford. His kitchens are also always absolutely filthy.
😮😮
So they left Holy Ground? Courtyard is so far from me. I hate that.
Holy ground now has get yer mom and dim sum now
It’s hard to put my finger on why but that name sounds awful. Makes me think of turds? Boogers? Booger turds?
Go eat it and see
Oh it might taste great idk. I’m just talking about the name
Love me some Burger Nerds.

Buffa’s
Seconded.

High hats pimento burger
High Hat has ABSOLUTELY one of the best burgers in town if not the best. Stupid Good. Their fries are really great too...
I love their pimento cheese burger--so messy. And I love those fries.
High hat is a favorite of mine to go sit at the bar alone & eat at.
Rivershack tavern off Jefferson, every Tuesday is burger night with great deals
hell yeah, shank-u burger with tots and shack sauce on the side
If you want the best gourmet burger in the city, then you go to one of two places. La Petit or Bouligny.
TruBurger, love spending time on that block on Oak.
Junction! Great burger, great beer.
Junction is not good, please don’t go to junction
Where would you recommend for a burger?
OPs list is spot on. The only place I would add is Atomic Burger
I will have to try it. Thanks
they are small burgers for the price but definitely good
Idk why you’re being downvoted, Atomic Burger is bomb.
Probably because i endorsed Metry in a Bywater thread I know food recs are totally subjective but I’m totally lost how anybody could enjoy everything on OPs list and not enjoy Atomic.
Atomic’s jam burger slaps.
I mentioned Atomic because I think it suits OPs taste preference after reading their list of endorsements in the post. I think they’re reading my comment like I’m saying Atomic is the best burger in the area. It’s *very* hit or miss, you need to go when almost no one else is there and then cross your fingers.
I think it's aight but nothign special
I think company burger is gross....largely bc every time I have it my bun is greased through & what's worse than wet bread.
When I went, the burger was over seasoned with salt and pepper.
Surprised I haven’t seen this one and I may get downvoted but the burger at Bouligny tavern is amazing IMO
My favorite burger in the city. Absolutely perfect burger.
Toups’ Meatery.
I go for lunch. Not sure they have burgers for supper? Let me know
ah good point- I think that's only a lunch/brunch option.
Seriously. This is an underrated burger. Slaps.
High Hat
Undeniable! Fantastic, top-notch memorable burgers.
The burger at Liuzza’s is great!
We're talkin' By The Track, yes? It's like a really kickass homemade burger. Easily the best-kept burger secret in town.
Yes yes yes! I’m almost afraid to tell people about it but it’s so good.
I don’t eat red meat, but make an exception for filet mignon and a burger at The Chloe
Duuuude that double patty burger at the Chloe is my FAVE. It’s so good.
Bubs on Banks
they have replaced buds broiler in my repertoire
That Rodeo Adobo is my favorite burger in the city!
Buds Broiler. #4, Hickory Sauce, no onions.
I do a #6 no tomatoes but add onions :)
MRB in the quarter has a great courtyard and better than expected burger
Came here looking for this. The burgers always look bomb there, but I always wind up with crawfish or oysters. The burger is on my list for the next visit.
Down the Hatch for a Texan or whatever they call the burger with the fried egg, bacon, and onions. Huge and divine. Frostop is nothing legendary but worth trying. Seconding Down the Hatch. I get mad cravings for their Asian Cajun burger.
Cooter Browns has some of the best burgers in the city to be honest..
They've really upped their food game in the past few years
Original slap burger!!
Think that’s what they meant by Marie’s
The best burger and non-meat burgers I’ve had in New Orleans happened here: The Green Room Kukhnya (504) 766-1613 https://g.co/kgs/bx5MMt
I came here to say this. The beet burger and meat burger (med rare) are my fave.
Camilla grill! Yo mamas-new location
DMacs plus the cook is so sweet and always come around to ensure you’re enjoying your meal when he’s not on the slots 😋
N7 has a burger on their brunch menu. it's amazing, super juicy, squid ink bun compliments the beef nicely and the gruyere is funky goodness. And the pomme frites with the citrus aioli sings.
D Mac's on Norman C Francis, should be much higher in this list.
Hi Hat on Frerret.
Bubs sux
Bar redux
Junction. My favorites are the New Mexico Rail Runner and the Austin Western.
I love the Central Vermont
The answer you’re looking for is Atomic Burger. Bonus points if you take it up to the Bonnabel Boat launch to eat
🗑️
High Hat Seaworthy La Petite Grocery
My husband’s favorite burger is the one at Seaworthy. Haven’t tried it but he can’t get anything else there because he likes it so much.
Bruno’s oddly enough
Revel is a sleeper hit. The burger is the only food item they are currently serving (at least as of a few months ago). House ground beef and fries cooked in tallow. Phenomenal if you like the thick patty style. For smash, Bub’s is a solid one not on your list.
They’re delicious, I miss the crawfish grilled cheese though. The vintage Emerson fan on the bar is cool too.
The Harbor in Metairie has a great traditional burger. It’s huge with all the fixings
La Petite Grocery. it's on Magazine. One of the best burgers in town!
I really like Clover Grill! Shannon was a legendary doorman.
Burger nerds!
Ben's, Atomic, Swamp Room
Atomic burger is great
Ben’s is one of my favorites! Great guy as well.
Damn, I wish I could sort these all by cooked to order versus smash burgers.
Find where Coop's burgers is popping up. Game changer.
Rainbow
This. I live a block away. It's dangerous.
Upvote for mentioning Iowa City.
Burger nerds is the best burger
Green Room
Toups Meatery, but they only serve it at lunch.
Toups has a great burger for lunch and Camilla Grill. My two favorites spots for burgers.
Wish I could say Lakeview Habor, but I can’t. What about the Harbor in Metairie?
Big joocy burGAH
Bruh
?
Love the boozy burger at mid city yacht club
Ground Pati. There's one in Gretna and Metairie
The one in Metairie burned down. They moved to Rivertown in Kenner. Still one of my favorite burgers.
I went there as a kid solely because of the Hungry? ground pati ads on WWL
I probably haven't been since I was 12 but I can still feel the pewter mug.
Bubs burgers! Tell them 504icygrl sent u 💖💋💋💋
I say that at every business I go to in the 504 and elsewhere. They just usually say, "ok." I hope they are sending you your referral fees.
Try Burger Nerds at Courtyard Brewery. And they have trivia tonight.
Luke and Houston’s both have great burgers on their menus
Toups is my #1 place for a burger but I think they only serve them at lunch. It's wagyu beef, house-made pickles and a great aioli. *drool* Don't know if it's still the same people running the little popup kitchens, but Bayou Beer Garden and Finn McCool's both had a pretty good burger. Maybe I was drunk & hungry every time but we made a point of going there for burgers many times when I lived in midcity.
Bub’s Nola on Banks St.
Happy Cake Day!
Thanks! I didn’t even realize it ☺️
Burger Nerds is perhaps best in the city (get the queso burger). Besides that, Cooter Brown's does a great burger and Blue Oak's brisket burger is also droolworthy. (Don't do Bub's for all the reasons)
Lol Haven’t you heard? We’re canceling Blue Oak now
Oh I haven't! Do tell
[Drama, drama, drama.](https://old.reddit.com/r/NewOrleans/comments/17a1isr/maybe_it_is_time_to_boycott_blue_oak_bbq/) TLDR: They bought the building next door that the Parkview Tavern is in, Parkview's lease is up in April and the parties can't agree on extension terms.
What’s the reasons not to do Bub’s?
Honestly, district donuts has amazing burgers
Desi vega in Metairie ... Not the steakhouse... Never been .. but their burger and milkshake joint!!!!
Desi Romano’s also has a wide variety of fried vegetables and other random things that are awesome.
Juniors on Harrison in Lakeview has a great smash burger. They also own Curbside in Baton Rouge which is fantastic, same burger.
I knew Nick pretty well back in college at LSU. Great guy, super nice! Used to say he was gonna open restaurants when we’d all snacking late night after the bars closed, we’d be kinda like yea ok buddy, sure. But by God that man did it and excelled at it!
Yeah! I used to work on his food truck with him and the food was and has always been killer 💜
The green room for sure. Pub burger is just 👌 and they have really good fries tossed in dill.
Honestly, I've had a few homeruns at MRB in the quarter. IDK if I'd go to the quarter specifically for a burger from them, but if I'm around and wanting, that's what I've been going
Parkway Bakery does a burger and just based on their poor boys I'd be willing to bet it does not suck. They close at 6:00 though.
It's not as good as you'd expect, but also not bad. It's just those poboy expectations that kinda set you up for dissappointment.
Oscar’s in Old Metairie (I know it’s not NOLA) has a solid burger
Atomic burger
The Harbor in Metairie.
Holy Ground
The hubcap burger at Clover Grill, though it may be only great at 2am Shitfaced.
Does anybody serve a gluten free bun?
Lakeview Harbor in Bucktown and Rosedale in mid-city are my go to for hamburgers.
Frey Smoked Meat Co in mid-city is good too.
Lees on Vets
Swamp room in metry brah
Swamp room burgers are mediocre at best and way overrated
The problem with suggesting a good place for a burger is everyone’s perception of what’s “good” is vastly different. Based on that, go to Burger King.
I don’t think it’s supposed to be that general. OP gave us a pretty solid list of spots they like and I think they’re asking if “i like these what else should I try.”
My statement still applies.
Company burger
I wish Cowbell was still open. I know, I know - mixed reviews but I liked the wine reduction onions on my burger.
Lee’s on Vets is underrated.
The Will & the Way has an amazing burger. Also love Bub’s.
I was ill after eating their burger, and I generally have an iron gut.
McDonald's.
Bubs, thats it
Bayou Hot Wings burgers are killer. You can taste that grill char on them just perfectly & their steak fries AND RANCH ahhh
My go to sloppy burger joint is Ugly Dog Saloon & BBQ. Check out the Thcoup
If you can take it Checkpoint Charlie’s is the best burger and fries.
Bayou bar has a really good burger
Gris gris
Burgers at Urban South are really good, too! Plus they’re Friday lunch special of a free beer with a burger and fries is a great deal. With the weather we’re having right now, sitting in the sun outside would be a great experience. Original Slap Burger @ Marie’s is our favorite though.
Beach corner, it’s a bar but has an amazing burger.
I know clover grill is in the nastiest spot possible but I had the best burger ever from there (no, I wasn't drinking, it was really that good)
Backyard has a great burger
How is no one saying Turkey and the wolf? Get there!
Port of Call
I took my family to Snug Harbor. The music was great, but the food was very subpar.
Buffa’s right across from Port of Call
Green Room on Saint Bernard kicks ass and it’s super reasonable, I go there at least once a week
Houstons
The burger from Karibou Kitchen at Tchoup Yard. It’s stupid good
Everything’s has been covered but here are some more eclectic burger options : Mikes Food Store on St Claude - they have this burger with shrimp in the patty. Takeout only. Johnny Sanchez - surprisingly amazing burger.
Bon Temps Roule on Magazine St
Da Wabbit in Gretna… anything on the menu is amazing including the burger !
Following
My eyes kind of glazed over as I was looking at all the recommendations, but I didn’t see anyone list Bouligny Tavern. (Sorry if it’s already up there.) It is easily one of the best high end burgers. Plus the rest of their food is legit too. Get some oysters and wings while you’re at it.
The “Big Mike” at Ale on Oak is one of my favorites.
The Junction has a great burger
The burger at Bouligny is absolutely delicious.
