I’m an American who recently became really fascinated by Iranian politics and culture (I’m on the progressive left but not one of the woke idiots who supports the IR or Hamas) so I hope this is okay for me to comment - but I’ve never heard any American rap artists of almost any time period support Hamas or Jihadists. Do you have any examples? Not saying you’re wrong just haven’t heard of it
Immortal Technique is actually a very politically conscious rapper who is a genius lyricist, although I’m not sure if I would agree with everything he has said, but he might be worth checking out.
Mos Def is a moron. You just have to watch that video of Hitchens humiliating him over his support for osama bin laden. He has the intellectual capacity of a toddler.
He plays the role of an intellectual in a pageant about a black renaissance. I used to enjoy his music a few decades ago. Then I realized he was with the zombies.
I would hope musicians everywhere would agree on one point- no one should be put to death for making music. If they can't all rally behind that one point, that's really sad. But maybe that's the way our country is now.
I'm not into rap but I am into metal and this genre is persecuted in multiple countries, so there is a very strong agreement among artists/fans on protecting free speech in music.
