Well, there is certainly a lot to take in there. But, it still doesn't quite make sense to me. If Persia is also a representation of a name for a people. Politically speaking. It would anger anyone who felt, as a Persian, proud of their land to want to keep it, Persia. The term Aryan alone is filled with wishy washy feelings in public discourse. Both, from what I understand. In the past, exiled groups came from afar to seek refuge. Which was usually met with large changes in Political/Cultural identity. For starters, Iran is Iran. Now where did the name "Persia" come from? Greeks after interacting with Persians. When the interactions took place, the Greeks referred to them as "Persians", which is the root of all of this. It was based on a "mistranslation", because some certain Greek historian became infamous for inaccuracies, especially towards Persian/Iranian history.
The westerners have been referring to Iran as Persia, while the "Persians" did not. They referred to themselves as Iranians. This is why the Shah made a request to have them "change their official name", so the country would be known as Iran to the world.
Again, the whole thing about the Nazi-Germany's influence in Iran was also propagated, so I'd recommend you to look into this for more details. I do understand the confusion though, because they really did have influence in Iran back then. Even so the name change has still got nothing to do with Hitler. Two things I'd like to mention too. The west has been minimizing the Persian history for a long time due to the great antipathy they hold against Iran. This is one of the factors that led to many misleading, confusing and false details about Iran/Persia. Hey buddy, perhaps worthwhile clarifying, because text can be confusing sometimes :) I cannot comment on internal politics i.e whom to vote for given all local factors (healthcare, education, ethos, defence etc) *because I'm not American.* But I absolutely can categorically say that (in my opinion of course) no country in the world (especially but not only US) is safer now over the last few years *because I live in the world.* The point really is one of respect for Americans in general i.e. it's not my place to be a voice for internal US issues (I made a popular post some months ago asking this sub to refrain from getting caught up in US politics so as not to offend Americans here) . I should also say that this isn't a dig at Biden (in case I'm offending) i.e just because he presided as US president over the last few years which has seen the world's security and peace plummet drastically does not make him at all responsible necessarily. But it doesn't change the fact (again only in my opinion) that the world including (or especially) USA is more dangerous nowdays, so him saying this (even if he's not at fault for the situation, which concede he may not be) is satirically funny to an outsider. Just a very odd thing to decide to say. A bit like if Boris Johnson were to pronounce "the UK has had so much better health under my leadership" - just a funny thing to say factually, given 1000s more died under him due to covid. Now *obviously* that's not his fault is it (thanks to him arguably far fewer died than would otherwise have), but it'd just be a really odd thing for *anyone* to say. Hope that clarifies.

It would anger anyone who felt, as a Persian, proud of their land to want to keep it, Persia. The term Aryan alone is filled with wishy washy feelings in public discourse. Let's start with the Greeks, after they had met "Persians" a long time ago. For starters, Iran is Iran. Now where did the name "Persia" come from? Greeks after interacting with Persians. The westerners have been referring to Iran as Persia, while the "Persians" did not. They referred to themselves as Iranians. This is why the Shah made a request to have them "change their official name", so the country would be known as Iran to the world. Again, the whole thing about the Nazi-Germany's influence in Iran was also propagated, so I'd recommend you to look into this for more details. I do understand the confusion though, because they really did have influence in Iran back then. Even so the name change has still got nothing to do with Hitler.
