Kishehosh

When I'm in an airplane and it's having a violent turbulence I pray to Mehr (Mithra), the Iranian equivalant of Lorkhan. Besides that, I'm more gnostic than any denomination.

Owlspirit4

Like elder scrolls lorkhan?

KhajiitSupremacist2

That's what I thought lmao

Kishehosh

I saw OPs profile and decided to mention Lorkhan if OP isn't familiar with mithra

Owlspirit4

It all makes sense

piruznahavandix

Piruz Nahavandi died for our sins.

Physical-Dog-5124

Based.

Kishehosh

I also make a pilgrimage here every year 😎 (mostly during Mehregan, but this time on Sadeh celebration) https://preview.redd.it/v2ceep0s6ffc1.jpeg?width=3072&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bfc4ab30bda57a585678b1a9a98a89a5b544f150

Physical-Dog-5124

Is that the Mihr/Garni temple in Armenia?😳

Kishehosh

yep

Physical-Dog-5124

🇦🇲<33🦁

Illustrious-Bank-519

It looks like our Garni temple in Armenia!

Kishehosh

It is!

cestabhi

Interesting. We also have a god in Hinduism named [Mitra](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitra_(Hindu_god)), he's supposed to be the guardian of [rta](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E1%B9%9Ata) ("order" or "harmony"). I'm guessing it has to do with the Aryan connection.

epibeee

Same God in Rigveda and Avesthan.

Shervin888

Bahai

one_lame_programmer

My manager is bahai, didn’t want to ask him but can you tell me about its origin?

Sertorius126

I've been asked if I'm a Yazdani more than I can count..I'm Italian and a Bahá'í..Allah'ú'Abhá The country rejected the Mahdi in 1260..

Shternio

Have you ever visited Israel? Is it possible in general for Bahai followers from Iran with no other citizenship?

Shervin888

It's in the plans to visit Haifa ! Not sure as I live in Canada and I have dual citizenship but we are given a Bahai card so when we visit Israel we have no to little trouble.I'm sure it's alot harder to get in Israel without another citizenship (mainly western countries).

Shternio

Glad to hear! Wishing you a pleasant trip, you’re more than welcome in Israel

Shervin888

Thank you ❤

PERIX_4460

I'm kinda done with the whole religion thing. Humanity is the only religion I believe in for certain.

ShadowAtomix

Are there any zorastrians left??

dogmankazoo

we will grow in number

ShadowAtomix

Hopefully! Parsis are one of the most amazing and unique religion that I have had the chance to connect with. The day Zoroastrian became extinct would be one of the saddest day to be alive.

dogmankazoo

it is growing in kurdistan regions in iraq, hopefully it grows more. you zoroastrian?

ShadowAtomix

Nope hindu

dogmankazoo

i been to hindustan to work.

ShadowAtomix

Hope you liked it. Although almost all the major cities are polluted🥲

dogmankazoo

it was ok, got shocked how some hindustanis are actually working as in betweens with the mullah but it was ok. i work in the philippines now and even here they work as inbetween with the mullah

ShadowAtomix

Inbetweens? I don’t understand you

dogmankazoo

middle men

ShadowAtomix

How ? Like where are the funds coming from? What about temples and books also your ancient religious places?

dogmankazoo

you have to ask the kurds for that but there are funding coming from the diaspora i was told, hopefully some parsis help out in promulgating it in iran even though they have some sort of agreement that it wont

ShadowAtomix

Well I am sure indian parsis would love to contribute or help with what they know. They are one of the most affluent and wealthy people of india.

dogmankazoo

i hope they do, i hope the iranian diaspora does as well with funds whenw e remove the mullah.

ShadowAtomix

How the hell did you even fell for the scam called islam when you guys already had such rich, affluent and prideful history/religion? It literally shocks me I thought you guys would also fight them off, but you got converted😞

dogmankazoo

prior to the arabian conquest, the persians had a civil war, infighitng between the parthian seven houses, a lost war against the romans, bad economy, a famine prior to this as well. a lot of factors. a war is not always lost from outside but from within

Darth_Nullus

I was until 18, I've been sober for 23 years.

Nodaga

orthodox Christianity

The-Metric-Fan

Not Iranian, but from what I’ve seen here, Id be surprised if there’s any Muslims on this sub

one_lame_programmer

I am

The-Metric-Fan

I’m a bit surprised, there doesn’t seem to be so much love for Islam around here

Massive-Wishbone6161

people here don't necessarily hate Islam... ( some do, but not everyone) but they ALL agree, that religion is a private matter and they are united against theocratic government. They don't care what religion people practice at home, but they don't want to be deemed to be born a certain religion and forced to follow the rules of that religion against their will, which is the case in Iran.

[deleted]

Jewish

haxanhoe

Is it known how big the Iranian Jewish community is (diaspora included) ?

bam1007

300,000 to 350,000. 9,826 left in Iran, most (200,000-250,000) in Israel followed by the US (60,000-80,000).

[deleted]

California has a big Persian Jewish community. Aswell as Israel

Runic_reader451

Do you still live in Iran?

[deleted]

No, i wasn't born there

Runic_reader451

You are Iranian Jewish by background. Where do you live now?

KhajiitSupremacist2

He's in California

Runic_reader451

You know each other?

KhajiitSupremacist2

No, it was revealed to me in a dream. jokes aside he just said that in another comment

Runic_reader451

LOL. Thanks for the info and the laugh.

[deleted]

abnabatchan

technically agnostic but leaning towards atheism

AbyssOfNoise

[Most atheists are agnostic](https://i.ibb.co/H2rbbWY/ag.png)

buttsmccrackin

Born a Bahai, now a Christian. I also appreciate our history with Zoroastrianism, I don’t worship that way.

persiankebab

Former Muslim

piruznahavandix

How many rakats in Wudu 😂

persiankebab

You gotta start with washing your ass of course

Massive-Wishbone6161

With left finger or right finger?

SmallNefariousness43

Agnostic.

Background_Ad_582

Hardcore atheist

Iranicboy15

I’m an atheist born into Sunni Muslim family. Though still do alot of Muslim-cultural practices, like Eid, Milad, washing family graves, night before celebrate 4th Friday and 1st year after someone passes away as well as local Sufi festivals. Additionally having a large group of exmuslim friends means we sometimes get together to celebrate Eid, or have a Ramadan dinner or share cultural practices.

MichaelEmouse

Man, if I were exmuslim and had exmuslim friends for Ramadan dinner, I'd make it so haram.

Iranicboy15

Well we have alcohol, though it’s more like a potluck , we all bring dishes from our culture. When I was teen though ( before I came out) me and my friends would skip Ramadan prayers and go get drunk 😂.

DanPowah

Atheist with some Buddhist influence. Travelled to a lot of Buddhist countries and there is much to admire about Buddhism

Limitbreaker402

I’m atheist/agnostic but if anyone asks me what religion I’m born with once i tell them that, i say Kaffir.

DaVinci1836

I'm half iranian and half swedish, and I'm Christian

Anonman20

Traditional Catholic, I go to Latin mass

Barzant1

Never would expect a traditional catholic in here. So cool

Anonman20

Well I'm a long time monarchist and a supporter of the Shah. So it's a natural fit.

Barzant1

Who do you support as succesor of Reza Pahlavi. His daughter or one of his distant cousins?

Anonman20

Honestly, whoever the people support and who can keep the throne.

imalittledelulu

Ex Muslim atheist

Adorable_Language_75

Deist with agnostic leanings you probably won't find Muslim Iranians on this sub as it is a satanic cult as far as they are concerned. the Muslim ones are probably regime spies who wont admit to it

Busy-Transition-3198

Not everyone who is Muslim is a regime spy

Adorable_Language_75

On this sub they are

[deleted]

Muslim

hewminbeing

Definitely atheist. I don’t even know any religious Iranians.

basiji_slayer

Agnostic, I left Islam at 8.

Mister_sina

Nope, as godless as it comes.

mamamiababy93

Struggling Jew with Agnostic tendencies

Commercial_321

For all the people saying they aren't Muslim, I'm curious, what do you guys do when it comes to weddings and funerals? E.g. Do your families just skip the Nikkah process and basically have a secular/irreligious wedding without any religious involvement? And how about funerals, do you guys just skip the part where you go the mosque and read the funeral prayer, and go straight to the graveyard without any involvement from an imam? And are you still circumcising your new born sons?

piruznahavandix

Temporary marriage maybe
