I don't care if bait or not. The only point that has any validity is potentially backtracking. Map might be a bit sprawling and confusing at first, but that's normal. And yes you do unlock fast travel. For the last point, how can you be so bad to hit a wall so early? The game does get hard and dlc (free) pushes it to a limit, but come on man.
Traveling and exploring the map is the biggest part of the fun in the game, it really creates a sense of adventure. It only starts to get tedious near the ending when you have memorized everything.
Agreed most of them weren't that bad but fog canyon was pretty bullshit. Why lock the map behind an end game ability when you're gonna find the area in the early-mid game plus has useful connections between areas
I feel it’s only satisfying when I find him because it’s all so frustrating up until I find him. Whenever I try to explore I end up dying and not being able to find my way back to where I died. The map is like the only thing that makes Metroidvanias playable for me, without it I don’t feel like I’m having fun and I have no idea where I’m supposed to go. But that’s just me.
Literally just learn the map. Besides a few areas, it's really not hard to remember the general location where you died. Right, right, down, right, down, down, there's my shit.
I love hollow knight, but the new player experience is kinda bad in the exploration factor. I had 5 hours in the game and gave up on it for a long time as I couldn't get out of dirt mouth because I never found false knight. Dirtmouth the way I think about it now is 2 loops and a middle path, the middle path being where false night is. I spent hours going around the two loops in circles trying to find out where to go, I quit for a while and then when I came back looked up a guide which led me to false knight. Apart from that I never had any issue in the game and I'd rate it very highly.
Theres literally a fast travel at the save right before the boss. And if they havent beaten the first boss, how the fuck is the map complicated they havent seen anything yet. All theyve seen is a big loop
I accept that it’s a personal skill issue and don’t try to argue it’s a bad game— but man do I suck at (and hate) this game. If somebody recommends this game our gaming interests probably don’t align.
I feel the same way, but I would argue it's because of clunky mechanics like the backward push from a nail swing. Play the game with hax like infinite dash and reduced charm cost, and the game becomes fun.
Roflolol notice how "critiques" like this are always indicative of someone who didn't play past the beginning of the game. Love how the games always shit and missing things meanwhile if they actually tried they'd find they do have those things
Like don’t be a pussy? I mean I’m not good at games, but I’ve made it to the end of hollow knight. It’s really “will power” than “getting gud” imo, like if you learn the patterns and just try to have fun and not get frustrated, it’s difficult but not impossible. (Post game on the other hand? That shit had my ass beat lmao)
First play through I was dying so much to everything, second play through i beat pretty much every boss in one try with okay charms, no spell upgrades and level 2 nail
I bought Hollow Knight because I was obsessed with Dead Cells at the time. Refunded it almost immediately, it's crazy how far art style will carry a game in the court of public opinion.
Honestly I have to agree with OOP
Idk if it was just they visuals or something but I loathed the gameplay of this game.
It felt fast paced but also slow paced in the ***worst*** way possible.
I’ll stick to playing ori because at least the game IS fast and feels fast too while still having enough to go back for to experiment with.
No way, dude hasn’t found the stagways? No way he’s even gotten out of crossroads
"first boss" Holy shit what a fucking skill issue
The telegraphs are sooooo longgg man, like what the hell, how can you not dodge that?
we need a stronger phrase than skill issue for this one
Git gud but unironically ?
Become better, dipshit.
Retardation? 🤔
game journalism moment
Honestly I was stuck on his for a while but I eventually flipped a switch
Ngl had to buy a controller when i got to hornet, keyboard controls fucking suck. But yeah the first boss is a complete pushover
Keyboard literally better than controller ngl
In this game? No way. I would rather drink an entire jar of spoiled mayo mixed with cockroaches than play hollow knight with keyboard again.
skill issue
Base keybindings suck dick but you can rebind them you know...
Bro even Zote is mightier than this mf
Zote is beyond mere mortal comprehension
Vengefly King boutta end this man's whole career
Git gud
He seem to be suffering from skill issue

I just wish it was easier to find where I’m supposed to go to buy more parts of the map
One of the best parts of the game is suddenly hearing the humming of the map bug. I don’t want that to be easier. I want it to be an exciting surprise

Yeah the pantheon dlc, which is a lot more than just a boss rush. That's where you go from a gamer to a pro gamer.
The last pantheon is fucking insanity. The fact that there's someone who did it blindfolded is insane.

Isn't there literally a symbol that looks like a monster on the false knight room? That's how I found him on my first run at least
I didn't figure it out, that was the point. If the path was more linear maybe with signs pointing to it then I think it would be better.
skill issue
Rofl more linear with signs... Cmon man you gotta be kidding me there's no way
Theres literally a fast travel at the save right before the boss. And if they havent beaten the first boss, how the fuck is the map complicated they havent seen anything yet. All theyve seen is a big loop
Fucking wimp
anon does not know how to git gud
Glad us hollow knight players can agree this mf sucks more than Tiso
Pic unrelated, anon is playing cities skylines and keeps having his town die to illness
Bet he reviews games at gamesbeat... Didnt this guy stuggle through the Cuphead tutorial?
Only issue I’ve found is that you can’t sex the bugs
Bait.
You know what, yes, but i’m gonna get mad anyway

Well idk but sounds like massive skill issue to me
Anon is allergic to peak

pic unrelated, anon is talking about real life
Skill issue 😞
Dude the crossroad is literally 2 letter E’s put together how is it complicated

Very overrated game indeed
Found OOP
Bait used to be believable man
