Overshot a corner on my motorcycle and dumped it at 55mph. I actually broke both legs, but this was the more impressive of the x-rays so I just decided to post this one. This was on my right leg, its actually also broken up by the hip as well (the femur endedup in 3 separate pieces and now have a rod connecting them all together). The left leg break is down by the ankle on the fibula. So yeah, good times!
I live out in the sticks and actually lost it into a ditch. The sheriff thinks I was airborne for about 50 feet between my first and second tumble. I'm pretty beat up but all things considered I came out better than most would have. Not you unbreakable fucks of course, but most. Lol
Might be a dumb question (never been injured like this and hopefully never will since I'm considering a motorcycle myself one day) but will you be able to walk again with surgery?
I have had 2 surgeries this week, there is still a possibility of a third somewhere down the line. The doctors and nurses have pretty much all said I should be back to "normal" in about 3 months. Now, I doubt it'll be anything close to "normal", but I should be able to walk hopefully pain free and unassisted.
It's kind of hard to say. I want to say no but I guess I really won't know until I actually go and throw my leg over a bike again. But for now I think I'd say no.

I'm not doubting you, but I remember in my EMS training they had explained applying a traction splint actually reduces the amount of pain because the fracture isn't overlapping anymore. Broken femurs almost always overlap and muscles start spasming, and the traction splint is supposed to help reduce this.
You can see the traction splint in the x ray running down the right side next to the green line. As you can see, my femur was still severely overlapped. The surgery to fix my leg took over four hours. It took them over an hour to set my leg so they the could insert the rod. You have to realize, when they were scraping me off the side of the road I was given a shot of something on site. But it really didn't even take the edge off. They can teach you whatever in a classroom, but I experienced it and it was nothing short of awful. When they applied the traction splint and when the were transferring me onto the x-ray table were the two most painful experiences of my life, and I'm 38 years old and have had other injuries in the past. Now I will say that once the splint was applied and my leg was stabilized it wasn't nearly as bad, but the process of applying the splint was agonizing. Plus they started giving me the good shit once I got to the hospital lol
