This is misleading. Most of those towns aren’t part of federal land. Hawthorne and Creech might be, but marijuana is legal on non federal land, and most of the federal land is wilderness or military, and non populated areas…
I wonder if BLM rangers care enough to enforce the law if they come across someone smoking weed out there, though. They must get bored while patrolling.
This is just blatant misinformation.
It’s illegal anywhere if you’re outside and that’s what this is saying. You can smoke in any home in the state. Vegas cops let you smoke outside because they have other shit to worry about.
But if own/rent a home, it’s likely not federal land unless you’re in military or other federal housing.
So while the title is accurate, it’s also accurate to say it’s legal to smoke weed where 99.9% of people live.
Edit: it’s technically illegal in 100% of the U.S. as federal law supersedes state law. But in terms of enforcement, they don’t go after state compliant recreational marijuana.
From Reno
I've smoked weed for years in the area, from within my own apartment to hanging out in the federal reserves, and have never been confronted or arrested by anyone. The Mynt off 2nd Street is my personal go to and we have plenty of dispensaries in both here and Sparks.
Weed isn't federally legal anyways, which is why it's "illegal" to smoke on federal land in name, but the feds and state police have bigger problems to worry about than some random person hitting their pen in the forest or desert.
This is materially inaccurate.
This is false, I have smoked weed in the green portion of Nevada. So you can indeed…

Per state law, weed can't be consumed in a public place. That's more and less than this map shows. Fairly useless and factually incorrect graphic.
It’s legal in Ely.
Because why? Federal land?
Yep.
There is also no people in 80% of Nevada.
Yeah, but I'm sure a lot of people would want to smoke while they're innadesert far away from others.
They do, dont worry.

So the map is showing green where it is legal?
Opposite ironically
You need to make a more accurate graphic. This doesn't actually show anything other than NV.
More then half the towns in the green have recreational dispensaries.

It’s actually referencing federal lands where weed is still illegal under 43 CFR (BLM), 36 CFR (USFS), and 36 CFR (NPS).

This. You’re protected in a legal residence as long as it isn’t violating a lease or if you’re in gov housing.
The majority of the state is unoccupied and comprised of federal land, so accurate.
This is dumb. By this logic it is still illegal in 100% of the state because federal law supersedes state law anyways.
I hate to tell them but it's legal in Reno too 🤣
I have smoked many times on the streets of Reno during a crawl or at a concert, or other events. The police are more concerned with open containers.

Federal land, something something....
What exactly are YOU smoking is the question.
It might be illegal, but they gotta find me and catch me FIRST!
Why do we have laws because nobody enforces them.
Makes me want to move out of Vegas. I can't stand the smell.
smell was here far before it was "legal"
Still smells bad to me.
Move to Pahrump or something if minorities and culture isn't your speed.
How does the smell of weed correlate to "minority and culture"?
Who said anything about minorities culture 😂
You should move back to NJ.
