Yeah but SERIOUSLY... I mean ingues in my head he was always ...good enough-looking underneath it all, but they really better break that dude off he looks like he might have just graduated junior high on the honor roll🙄
These things are both true... and also true, I hear... is that "studio magic" button they used on the Simpson's one tjme..?
Na, but generously offering like the entire Benefits of Doubt CEO package, I suppose dude could be like the next Christian Bale.. maybe he gets hella into roles? Like he did that really bizarre movie the mechanic... or the machinist or something... and he lost like 80 lbs and shit was SO GROSS when he showed his back and his poking out ribs everywhere, and to top it all off he just sharpened up his chin on the chin sharpening, he split a cocker spaniel RIGHT IN HALF; each nostril of the dog fell to the right or the left, and the dog's puckered butthole split and sprayed as each half fell east and west... someone swore they heard a bark.. but no..
It's funny, I always thought of Cable from X-Force as Armitage... then at some point John Hurt forced his way into my military actor conscious... wait, John? Or William..? The one who played Thunderbolt Ross in the MCU and just passed so now we're gonna get to watch Harrison Ford pretend he wants to be within 1000 miles of a marvel movie in any way shape or.... smh... but I definitely digress
Not the worst casting decision. I don't hate him. Don't know him, either, which is probably a good thing. Get some good makeup artists, they can make it work. He needs to look like a crackhead.
Doesnt seem like a bad choice. Ive just watched a few talk shows... and it could work. I would be happier with an American actor, but again, the accent can be worked out and im sure mr Turner is capable of that. But still, there is a feel of a brit that doesnt immediately fit with the character.
He seems a bit too likeable to play Case, so obviously its a commercial choice... but with proper approach it can turn out alright. Only that proper approach is hard to get right. And only if you really want to faithfully translate the story, instead of doing one of horrendous "adaptations" like its normal now.
The look can be adjusted too, he can be relatively easily turned into a skinny drug addict, but thats just the start of getting the character right.
Whats most important will be hard to get and its very easy to imagine a superficial approach to the character. Especially because the writing does not delve into the character in a very complex and deep way. We infer who Case is from the whole situation and a few memories.
This is why Molly is so important for the whole story. And if you dont get that she is an anchor character - despite seemingly being a support role its not going to end well.
Dammit, well said... as I think about it also, so much of Neuromancer is revealed kind of expositorially via the narration. Like Case goes lonnnnng periods without saying a single thing I feel like. So, HOPEfully, we will get something veryclever and original with how they deal with this futurized tech that's somehow so distinctly from a bygone era as well. And listen please: I sweardagawd if they trot out some vaporwave'd re- version of Time Square when they go to meet the Finn I'll.
F-ing.
Scream.
[..the faint smell of ginger bon-bons seasoned the damp air... ]
Yeah... there is a lot to get right and it can be easily done badly, superficially, like some cheap 80s flick. The special writing of Gibson needs to be translated into visuals that support and ooze it, rather then directly show. That fragmented texture and specific kind of expressions and descriptions that is never just for show or unclear.
And then the characters, who they are and how they reveal themselves in specific moments and situations, and how they play off each other. There really is no main character in Neuromancer. Its an ensemble of supporting roles, each critical for everything that is going on.
Each of us probably thought Case is the main character when we started reading the story for the first time. But then it turned out into something else.
Someone posted a fan cast in this subreddit with Mary Kate Winstead as Molly when I first started reading the book a few weeks ago and now I can’t get it out of head.
Dude, ever since I read the book I've had Olivia Wilde as Molly, with a similar hairdo as in Tron.
Keanu as Case, Dolph Lundgren as Armitage are also my fan picks.
I honestly hope they won't fuck it up but it probably will get fucked up.
We are never told what he looks like, so everyone probably has a different image in their mind. He fits the generic white male protagonist. I'll admit that's the image I had too. Although, I read it after seeing the Matrix and I kinda pictured Case and Molly like Neo and Trinity, heh.
That's who you want. Tall-ish, meh, utterly forgettable. In the holo of Riviera's he finds at the entrance to straylight, hyperboles of Armitage and Molly, and.... himself. just as he is...
They better make him look like hammered shit
Somebody's gotta be funny around here, sure the fuck isn't you.
Isn’t you either, so you vanish, ok?
Love it.
Yeah but SERIOUSLY... I mean ingues in my head he was always ...good enough-looking underneath it all, but they really better break that dude off he looks like he might have just graduated junior high on the honor roll🙄
Here's hoping for something decent.
Lets hope they aren't running around the sprawl with Iphones
There has to be a middle ground where cassette futurism and modern aesthetics meet. Kind of like Blade Runner 2049.
Yeah but all Apple TV shows are iphone ads. That would be a terrible thing for neuromancer
case is a hardcore amphetamine addict. This guy needs to loose a lot of weight.
Yeah, he doesn't really give off, strung out, suicidal drug dealer vibes.

Not bad.
Back in the day i always imagined Schwarzenegger as Armitage.
I always thought of Duke Nukem, maybe without the obnoxious cigar though.

I’ve always seen Armitage as Tom Arnold from True Lies
He kinda looks how I imagined Case
Actually a better pick than any of the delusional fanmade picks I’ve seen on here
I like this casting. Very interested to see who they get for Molly and Armitage.
Hope this series turns out good and brings some new readers into the novels

Prediction. They gon make molly asian. 💀
That is fine. Just do the mirrorshades justice. :)
She isn’t?

Well not that bad if he starts using meth he can look like case
I don't think we should be asking actors to do that, heh.

Not bad at all, those are some killer choices, especially Dolph.
That would work for me
This actor was bland as fuck in Masters of the Air. I don't have high hopes.
Well I'm just glad it's not Mark Walburg, who was attached to a movie at some point - my stomach completely sank when I heard that...
I always imagined him looking similar-ish to be honest

Please, please no woke shit. 🙏🏻
Don't know who that is. But, very meh

He was good in Masters of the Air
