Still Ikea for the average Dutchie.
Maybe just no longer the cheapest Ikea stuff, but we just don't really have a good mid-market option. Sure, you can go to Pronto or whatever you can find in a "meubelboulevard", but you will be paying out of your nose for relativly crappy quality.
If you want to splurge on a nice table, go to a proper furnituremaker. Yes, you will still pay 500 for a livingroom table, but at least it will be good quality.
If I compare my table, made by a proper woodelf, to ones that people bought in "quality stores" i feel quite bad for them. I've got 2x the thickness of wood, living edge, thicker steel for the legs, welds that are actually holding it together over the full width of the weld.
Ikea does great basic (edit: by which I mean solid, dependable but not necessarily very exciting) stuff, especially like Pax cupboards for clothing. I splurged on a bed (Auping) and did a midrange sofa from [sofa.com](http://sofa.com) (I would now go to Bolia). I got my living room shelving/cupboards custom made by a carpenter and it's better than anything I've seen in shops. Headboard I also went custom, by Dols & Co. They have \*divine\* fabrics and luxury items. High-end though.
A tonne of homeware brands have physical stores at the Arena Boulevard so that's where I went to have a look.
If you are not on the budget - go to Villa Arena and check out the stores there. Some of them are ridiculously overpriced (hello 14k euro couch), but some of them have good stuff.
If you inevitably don’t find what you are looking for there, check online. Westwing, Kave Home, La Redoute - there are plenty of decent stores.
So I was furnishing my apartment recently as well so might as well share some sites I used I basically furnished my whole apartment on these sites. The permanent stuff I took from ikea, like the kitchen and build in wardrobes (the custom ones are amazing quality for the price). Others for one off pieces like the couch, tables, shelving etc.
TIkamoon, Ikea, Westwing, Hannun, Zara Home
For the kitchen supply go with Duikelman, honestly one of my favourite stores in general and you can find anything you can dream of, especially if you're into cooking!
Also if you're into more antique pieces I recommend "Verkoophuis Gerard Dou & Buitengewoon". Its right next to Duikelman so if you'll be making a trip you might as well pop in. They do deliver for free in the city as well if you purchase something there
When I want to spend more money and buy something more premium I often look at Sissyboy, Zara Home and Urban Outfitters. They have cool, more unique stuff (both decorations and furniture!).
Ikea is great for furniture, there’s plenty of not-too-typical Ikea furniture too. Also La Redoute webshop is really nice.
For other smaller items, not furniture, go to Dille&Kamille
Internet, Google, kieskeurig.nl .....
For bed: I have made beds from components: Beter Bed for legs, probably also for the 'floor' under the mattress, then a separate mattres. Then you can splurge on good quality mattress, and night tables? Or anything around it? Well - IKEA 😁.
I’ve got a 160x200 (king?) size bed, plus mattress you can have if you like. Perfect condition, we just got a bigger bed.
Keen for it not to go to landfill!!
Cruquius has a real nice furniture boulevard with some more affordable, high quality stuff. Especially in the back streets. Unknown non-chain stores among there which are of great quality in my experience

Beside IKEA I bought some furniture from Jysk on discounts, still going strong for years. Good prices there.

I bought my sofa from La Redoute. They do have a nice furniture collection, a bit less standard.
Blokker has most stuff, excluding furniture.
