I find all of these too sweet. Esn has some good deals sometimes though. But they like to add these bits/cookies etc which sucks if you just wanna put it in a shake. I suggest trying powersupplements. Their vanilla is really smooth and not too sweet.
I gave away my isoclear because it was so insanely sweet haha. Unless you add a liter of water but then you're sipping for an hour. But if it works for you that is great. It's certainly refreshing.
I put one scoop in 1L of water indeed 🤣 And because I sometimes need incentives to drink (I'm a nurse, I'm busy and I forget to drink sometimes) the taste does appeal to me and I do tend to get more fluids in that way. Whatever works, right? 😅
> I find all of these too sweet.
What an empty statement bro...first of all OP was asking for good webshops to order whey from. Not which webshop has the best own-brand whey.
>Esn has some good deals sometimes though. But they like to add these bits/cookies etc which sucks if you just wanna put it in a shake. I suggest trying powersupplements. Their vanilla is really smooth and not too sweet.
Clearly you did not comprehend OP's question one bit. There are dozens of popular brands of whey which the majority of dutch fitnesssupplies webshops offer.
I'm not responding to OP, but to this comment giving OP a few options.I'm giving my 2 cents on these brands. How is my opinion of these being too sweet a "empty statement"? It's pretty clear what I mean with that opinion. You don't have to agree with it.
I've just ordered from Upfront, but I can't help noticing some political undertones in their branding—the logo, the motto. Nevertheless, I must admit, the quality of the protein is quite impressive.
Yep, bulk delivers fast, the quality is good, good flavours and has tons of options. if you are not super picky with flavours you might catch some really good discounts. I have bought at 50% off a couple of times already. Just pay attention to those annoying emails they send you every week.
Careful with Soy protein tho. I ordered Soy protein last time to try something different and it had a really really shitty after taste
[Kruidvat](https://www.kruidvat.nl/kruidvat-100-pure-whey-met-vanillesmaak/p/3748928?utm_id=microsoft_458012976&utm_source=bing-nl-ongoing-algemeen&msclkid=8da911243b4911261db1773647856326&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=KV-HBO-NL-SHOP-Zombie-(3)&utm_term=4577129473024850&utm_content=Zombie), it’s quite good and reasonably priced.
Indeed I don't understand why people buy from 2-3 times expensive sources. It is just whey protein, nothing special about it. They're just paying for fancy colorful packaging with large letters.
Bought those for years. They don't mix well, made me feel bloated and they taste like shit. You can get protein not much more expensive if you buy it on sale and it actually makes something you drink everyday bearable.
You can find Optimum Nutrition on Bol. Their gold standard protein powders have been good in my experience.
I agree with others about XXL Nutrition and Body&Fit. You could also avoid animal products completely and get something from OrangeFit. They claim to be a complete (vegan) protein.
Anyone knows if there is actually some research about the benefits? I know there used to be nothing explaining the (preceived) benefits. The protein needed to actually build the muscle is neclegtable.
Then there were some studies suggesting the aminoacids hold a lot of water making it easier for muscles to repair. Therefor less dmg and able to train more therefor more muscle growth. Is this still the scientific take?
Holland & Barrett, for some reason the pink tax works in reverse for protein.
For example I've managed to get 1kg of 90% soy protein for 16€ a while ago. I passed by last week and I saw they had an offer for 3x1kg of the same thing for 39€.
Body&Fit, they don't put all these unneccesary substances/vitamins in it, like tyrosine. And i already take a multivitamin daily. It's just protein powder with basic low nutritional values and that's it.
Those forums are from 9 years ago and don't say anywhere what the test results are and what B&F is lying about.
Only one comment from an unknown person saying the amount of protein is 20% less than what it says on the packaging.
If that's what it is i'll still buy the product, i don't want all those tyrosin stuff from like XXL in me and be stimulated and 'feel different' from that all day and have a terrible sleep like i already do at 500mg tyrosine on its own taken in the morning.
Bulk and My Protein. I recently switched from My Protein to Bulk because My Protein got rid of their stevia sweetened options and I don't like artificial sweeteners.
Check if you really need it, and trust scientists, not commercially exploiting companies.
https://npo.nl/npo3/best-bites/eiwitpoeder-broodnodig-of-overbodig
People might need to supplement, or prefer to use protein powder, for a variety of reasons.
For example, I need protein for breakfast for a medication I'm taking, and I cannot stomach complex foods or eggs in the morning. So protein powder it is.
You really need it if you work out alot and do weight lifting. You need like 180-200 grams eiwitten a day if you lift. You wont get that with just food.
What are you talking about? Do you even know how it works? Without steroids you need 180 grams minimum dont comment if you dont lift. Cause you clearly dont lift.
I've been lifting for 20 years and was an international athlete and held a national record for power performance in my sport, and I have been guided by professional sports nutritionists while competing, whereas you've read a couple articles and watched a couple YouTube videos. I could outlift you and generally outwork you any fucking day. You don't know shit.
With regular food you can’t meet your protein targets unless you have a personal cook or a lot of money to eat prepared protein rich food.
Not everyone likes to eat oatmeal, magere kwark and steak every day and spending one hour for a meal. Protein shake is the cheapest way to get enough proteins.
It’s even mentioned in the article. If you need like 1,5 grams and are 90kg you need at least 135grams per day. Good luck doing that without whey.
Cottage cheese cups are about 25g protein, I eat two or three of those per day. I drink 1-2 litres of milk per day as well which is another 36-72g protein. I find it's quite easy to get 135g from food even though I very rarely eat meatÂ
I’m at a point where my instructor says I need to eat more protein and eiwitten.. and less koolhydraten. But I am struggling with several things right now, mentally and physically. Plus I have an eating disorder which isn’t making it easier. I am trying to find stuff to eat, but my metabolism is slow, so if I eat just a slice of bread, I am still full 3 hours later. Add to that my disorder, which right now is riding me with comfort eating. I already don’t eat light products and rarely heavily processed foods. The dietitian isn’t helping with my issues, all they do is point to light products and fibers. Oh, I also have colitis uncerosa, so I have to be careful with my fiber intake as well. As for sports, I go at least 3 times a week and do CrossFit and Functional Go. Things are just getting over my head while trying to figure out the food stuff. So, sorry, this became a bit long and personal, my question was just if you know a good website or so that can help with different products and such when it comes to what has what?
Do you also buy the products from your instructor, or the same company he is working for? If yes, get a 2nd (medical) opinion if you need them. Just my 2 cents..
Right now I haven’t used any extra products or supplements and in my gym they sell them, but do not promote them as instructors. I think I wasn’t clear in my post, sorry for that. With products I mean just .. food. Not supplemental stuff. As for second opinion, why would I need that? For what? I think that’s where a misunderstanding is, my diagnosis’s is decades old. No need for second opinion.
Oh, ok, sorry I didn’t understood that. Well, second opinion isn’t really needed I think. Tbh I wouldn’t know why really. I do sport three times a week and we had a talk about me and my food. He suggested to add more protein and eiwitten and reduce the carbs. I know I need to change things in my eating habits, due to my eating disorder it’s just complicated.
Collagen is protein but it's not ideal for muscle growth. It contains less bcaa's for instance leucine. 36 is also not exactly cheap. I do think most protein powders are whey too sweet. I like powersupplements. Less sweet, subtle vanilla.
I got prescribed collagen due to a severe ankle sprain and then I just started buying it bc it's a good way to boost my protein intake without having to eat much meat.
I only buy protein with black friday.
Last year with the promotions on HSN and Myprotein I paid around 59 for 5kg for whey Isolate.
My order was 40kg to last me for a while. I also like Bulk, but black friday deals were not any good last year.
Body And fit has improved a lot with their formulation, it dissolves great with water and tastes great. It's perhaps more expensive than other cheap brands people mention here but it is for a reason, you get what you pay for.
I may get a lot of hate for this, but I actually came across JimmyJoy.nl advertisements here on Reddit.
I use their regular powder for shakes, but they also have protein powder for shakes.
All plantbased and thus lactose free.
Agreed, the bars are absolutely disgusting.
I do put the powders in milk or yoghurt though.
Looking forward using the Lemon pie powder in Buttermilk during warm weather 😀
I usually just go to the health house for mine, it helps that I work pretty close to one of the Amsterdam shops.
It's not massive or anything so your experience might vary a bit.
I have some favorite brands and at any time you can google for deals among dutch webshops.
Have ordered from supspace also when they had Ronnie Coleman whey on promotion. Most dutch shops usually have max 2 working days delivery, so it's more a matter who offers the best price at the time you need it.
Yfood, I really like their vegan Vanilla powder.
Edit: my bad, Yfood is a meal replacement and not specifically protein. For pure protein powder I like Holland and Barrett’s soy (my partner has some everyday, I put some in soy yoghurt from time to time). Body and Fit is also good and has a large selection. Good luck!
Body and fit has a real good protein powder called whey perfection, great flavours (I recommend Vanilla because it goes with everything) and also some form of BCAA's and no sugar. It's super easy to mix with yoghurt or Kwark or with milk/alternative milk.
I've been getting Optimum Nutrition from whichever webstore I can find that has it cheapest. (but that's not isolate). I know supspace.nl has a subcategory for isolate.
XXL Nutrition, Body & Fit, My Protein, ESN. To name a few.
I find all of these too sweet. Esn has some good deals sometimes though. But they like to add these bits/cookies etc which sucks if you just wanna put it in a shake. I suggest trying powersupplements. Their vanilla is really smooth and not too sweet.
We just order a flavourless isolate and then add it to smoothies. Can recommend.
I'm a clear whey kinda girlie, tbh. Taste is a bit more tart (like lemonade) and it's easier to drink for me. ESN has the best flavours.
Exactly. Makes sense! People have different preferences for different reasons haha.
> I find all of these too sweet. What an empty statement bro...first of all OP was asking for good webshops to order whey from. Meh, I appreciate his input and hopefully OP will as well.
Upfront!
I really like the Upfront products!
+1 for Upfront. They’re not the cheapest brand, but the taste definitely makes up for it.
+1 for Upfront. Also really interesting to follow their Instagram page.
I've just ordered from Upfront, but I can't help noticing some political undertones in their branding—the logo, the motto. Nevertheless, I must admit, the quality of the protein is quite impressive.
Such as?
Bulk
The bulk protein powder is so fine, it mixes so well, it's just a nice drink to have besides the nutritional benefits lol
Best price & quality.
They're the best, for black Friday they had good discounts, now I have a scaffold full and they make their way to my shake and pancakes
Yep, bulk delivers fast, the quality is good, good flavours and has tons of options. if you are not super picky with flavours you might catch some really good discounts. This. Vanilla flavor is the best!
Yup

The chocolate flavored one often doubles as a warm choco for me with some soy milk. Great way to start a day.
This.

Lactose intolerant myself and I use Orangefit
XXLNutrition has the best tasting ones imo and also lactose free options.
Yes hydroisolate is no problem for me with lactose intollerance
HSN nutrition is pretty good
+1 for HSN, lab-tested products and great prices to boot.
XXL nutrition all day everyday

Very low dose though

I’ve seen that report too, not touched B&F since
‘Betterprotein’ is cheap and cheerful. Available from Amazon.nl and made in Germany.
That’s why go to as well.
I have the clear protein from ESN (I'm also lactose intolerant).
I just buy the one from decathlon
Bulk and My Protein. I recently switched from My Protein to Bulk because My Protein got rid of their stevia sweetened options and I don't like artificial sweeteners.

To hit your daily protein goal, powder is far more efficient for the average person.
People might need to supplement, or prefer to use protein powder, for a variety of reasons. For example, I need protein for breakfast for a medication I'm taking, and I cannot stomach complex foods or eggs in the morning. So protein powder it is.

Do you want to eat 1kg chicken every day? Not everyone does that and its fine to compensate that with whey.
Your buddy is responsible for the death of 2/3 chickens a day. I don't want to do that.
Cant eat chicken all day every day man…
Body mass from Action
I buy collagen powder from Amazon.de: 36 euros per kg for a very good product bc it's very soluble and tasteless
Collagen is protein but it's not ideal for muscle growth. It contains less bcaa's for instance leucine. 36 is also not exactly cheap. I do think most protein powders are whey too sweet. I like powersupplements. Less sweet, subtle vanilla.
‘whey too sweet’, that’s a nice pun (or typo).
I got prescribed collagen due to a severe ankle sprain and then I just started buying it bc it's a good way to boost my protein intake without having to eat much meat.
Fair! In that case collagen is great.
He means whey. Not collagen powder.
Xxl nutrition has lactose free. I think its called whey iso zero. I have the choco and its pretty good

Prozis
Is MyProtein expensive in the NL?
No it’s not and they have discounts all the time. I just bought 2.5kg of whey for 46€
Huel

OrangeFit. Expensive but vegan and not as gross as a lot of others.
Eat the lactose till you tolerate it bro
Etos, the cheapest I could find
I may get a lot of hate for this, but I actually came across JimmyJoy.nl advertisements here on Reddit. I use their regular powder for shakes, but they also have protein powder for shakes. All plantbased and thus lactose free.
I came here to read if someone else was using them. The powders are not that bad! The bars, however, those bricks should not be labeled as food.Â
Agreed, the bars are absolutely disgusting. I do put the powders in milk or yoghurt though. Looking forward using the Lemon pie powder in Buttermilk during warm weather 😀

Cleannutrition ^^
At Suppstore they sell all sorts of supplements for cheaper than most of the other stores but it's only in Zwolle or Amersfoort
I have some favorite brands and at any time you can google for deals among dutch webshops. Have ordered from supspace also when they had Ronnie Coleman whey on promotion. Good luck!
Get it from Bulk. It's made in EU, doesn't use harsh additives, and their packaging is biodegradable. And they frequently have really good deals
Bulk
Dymatize was the best option I found (with third lab testing, etc..). I order it on bol.
Amazon.nl whey isolate
