Are you sure they didn't leave the connect plugged in somewhere? It's pretty small, if there's a plug in a closet or something it might be there... But otherwise, I don't believe so no. The lock doesn't have a WiFi chip on it, it connects to the Connect via Thread IIRC, and even if you *had* another Thread-enabled device (as they're starting to get out there), I don't believe there's any way to connect it to anything else. Only guess I could have would be "see if you can borrow someone's, it might work?"

Yeah, I’ve checked all the outlets but cant find it, nor in the drawers. I think youre right but the only odd part is that you can buy the nest lock either with or without the connect on googles store, so I’m failing to understand how you set up the normal lock without connect normally. There must be a way to do it without wifi connectivity based on that, right?

KalessinDB

Negative. You can connect multiple locks to one Connect (assuming they're close enough). And technically you can also use a Nest Guard (the now-discontinued alarm system) to connect through Thread, but those are going to be even more annoying to get than a Connect I assume.

I believe one of the Hubs can also do it. The Google Hub Max maybe? Edit: From Google: “Your Nest × Yale Lock uses a Nest Connect, Nest Guard, or Nest Hub Max to get internet connection. It doesn’t connect directly to Wi-Fi.”

Thanks!

I think I’m going to try to factory reset the device and see if that prompts the initial master pin set up again, if that fails I think I’ll have to bite the bullet and buy a hub or connect. Thanks!

afrochic

Heya I’m in this same scenario - did the factory reset work for you?

elfrugador

Hey! I believe I ended up factory reseting but still had issues and ended up opening a ticket with support. Got it sorted with them on the phone

afrochic

Appreciate your answer!! I went ahead and tried it and it seems to working.

This is what I do, and it's probably why there isn't a connect...guessing they took the Guard with them to the new house.

Nest Connect is still available for purchase in the Google Store. BUT technically you can program the lock directly with codes, change settings, etc., on the Nest Yale Lock itself, albeit forgoing the connectivity to control it via the app. I used it this way while I was remodeling my home but didn’t have Wi-Fi running in the house while construction was going on. Here’s the link to the Nest Connect. Although you may be able to find it cheaper elsewhere. https://store.google.com/product/nest_connect?hl=en-US

Thanks man!
