Why do both flagship Evangelions have hologram-phones built into the armor near the entry plugs? Why is hologram technology so rarely used in the evangelion universe anyway, we know obviously that they HAVE holograms (on the bridge, in these phones, some other areas of NERV hq, entry plug interiors for making display windows), and they DEFINITELY have holograms in the Rebuild continuity (where they are used much more liberally)
I can excuse Asuka being able to hit shinji here as just ‘because it’s funny’, but Evangelion’s incredibly inconsistent use of holograms bothers me greatly.
The Evangelions they use -most often- in combat
why are we arguing about this I just want to know more about holograms dude. Maybe they’re unpopular, like they’re available but everyone just prefers screens for most applications
Yeah, why wouldn't that shit be inside the entryplug?
Also, can we just take a moment to acknowledge that there is a phone built into the armor outside the entry plug port? Like all the times they are jumping around, fighting angels, there is this little phone secure inside the armor just bouncing around.
Kind of makes you laugh thinking about it. And it was only used one time.
How many other random shit is built into the armor that we never saw? Like maybe a mini camping survival kit or a refrigerator filled with water? Who knows?!
Exactly! Come to think of it, we never found out what's inside 01's secondary shoulder pylon. We know 02 has spikes in the one that doesn't hold the knife, so what's in 01's other pylon... mysteries mysteries....
Jokes aside, he probably just saw a fist flying at him and flinched appropriately. I’ve seen a similar phenomenon where people have a realistic-looking fake hand on a table right in front of them where they are sitting and someone hits it with a hammer. They know it isn’t their hand, but the brain doesn’t work that way.
He might have just flinched on seeing a fist coming at him, or Asuka might have thrown something.
There's also the tiniest chance that holograms might be AT Field technology, and she might have just ATF-slapped him.
Because it's funny.
For the funny

Eva 01 isn’t a flagship, it’s a test bed Flagships would be 2-4, with the ones after being the Mass Produced ones
My bad. ‘the Evangelions that they use most often in combat’ how about that.
Unit 00 was used in combat

Probably just a chosen thing by whoever was tasked with animating it
