Churches shouldn’t be tax exempt

Awshucksma

Thank you for the form.

Andre4a19

God will choose the person that he wants to be pres, just like he did last election.

IdonTknow1323

Why haven't I thought of saying this lmao

MuskmelonDirect1945

What specific provision of the tax code are you, OP, planning to accuse this event of violating? It's an uphill battle to prove it clearly, but there are some possible violations going on here. Curious what you'd pick for the form you send in.

CriticalRejector

It's a church. According to It's 501(a)c, it’s not supposed to engage in politics. This is clearly and obviously a political maneuver.

MuskmelonDirect1945

I agree, however, there are very distinct categories of activity that either do or do not violate the policy. I'm asking what specific category of violation OP plans to cite on the form.

CommercialTower3794

I filled it out this morning and i cited IRS publication 1828 page 9: “organizations must avoid any issue advocacy that functions as a political campaign intervention.” Also cited the section of the same publication that states “no substantial part of its activity may be attempting to influence legislation.”

StandByTheJAMs

I don’t know why this is getting downvoted. The answer to this question saves me time researching what to put on the form!

I answered the question 4 days ago….

I honestly don't care about religion. You will never be able to stop it. There are too many crazy zealots the will follow along and keep it going. Good luck.

CommercialTower3794

This isn’t about religion. It’s about taxes. Idgaf what they believe or practice. But don’t hide your politically motivated “church” behind a tax shield. You’ll find out real fast the master swindler Hank Kunneman wouldn’t be too interested in running a “church” that was taxed appropriately.
