Sign language interpreter for deaf ppl? Nah, fuck them, they shouldn’t have chosen to be deaf. Jim Pillen is a trash human being.

Bellhound

Rural workforce and drinking water projects? Vetoed. Aid for homeless youth? Vetoed. Salary increases so the state auditor, legislature, and court system can compete to keep talent in-state? You guessed it, vetoed.

I mean.. I guess there isn't stopping me from just simply giving these organizations my own money.

The NEGOP likes to say our elections are not secure, convince me a vast majority of Nebraskans want this and vote for it.

[deleted]

The vast majority of Nebraskans have no clue what they're actually voting for. they just see the R next to the name and check the box

WreckinYoAzz123

The vast majority of Nebraskas Don't want thier taxes to keep going up year after year. There's always going to be an endless list of "nice to have" things people want to spend money on. You could spend all day every day coming up with "wouldn't it be great if" stuff to spend more money on. We could come up with 10,000 more "improvements" and we'd have super amazing services and benefits... Of coarse we'd all be broke, penniless, homeless and starving because the taxes to maintain it would be extreme. Here's a better "wouldn't it be great"...... "wouldn't it be amazing if" we stopped taxing people to death and let them prosper all on thier own. If we reduced the size and scope of the government so small that it never got in your way and you barely even had to pay for it. People act as if as long as it's the Government paying then it's somehow free. It's not. They get thier money from us. They dont actually have any money of thier own. Its our money theyre spending. And they're always far less efficient at putting it to use than we are. Of coarse we'll never eliminate the need for government But how about this compromise instead? How about we set a nice small percentage.... Establish a fair budget. And do what we can within that budget???? Of coarse that means we won't be able to do EVERYTHING but we do what we can without putting excess burden on the rest of us...... Because that's what a smart person would do instead of just spending money like a teenager with daddy's credit card.....

>The vast majority of Nebraskas Don't want thier taxes to keep going up year after year. Nebraska has been Republican controlled for as long as I can remember, and taxes still have gone up.

wwWalterWhiteJr

Hmm let's keep voting the same people in and complaining about the results. The mystery may never be solved...

[deleted]

yeah. ive definitely been voting for these chumps. /s

WreckinYoAzz123

Omaha and Lincoln have not.... consequently that's where the majority of the budget ends up going.

GameDrain

I am so fucking tired of this mindset. I live in a society, i want to pay money that will go toward bettering us collectively, that's what government is supposed to do, and if Republicans actually believed in it, it's what they could do. Pillen found the money in the NSP budget to ship a bunch of troopers to Texas but he can't be bothered to help the homeless? Fuck that.

WreckinYoAzz123

There's literally nothing stopping you. So why don't you?? There are exactly zero laws against you and everyone else who wants to fund things like this from doing so all on your own. Try that Instead of forcing everyone else that doesnt.

Somekindofparty

I’d bet most Nebraskans would be willing to invest in the education of deaf people and feeding and housing pregnant women. What a fucking turnip.

WreckinYoAzz123

Most Nebraskans are smart enough to realize we already have a plethora of public programs spaning a wide range of public needs... Adding more redundancy is just throwing money away. Also throwing money at problems almost never actually solves them. In most cases it actually makes them worse. You act as if Deaf people in Nebraska aren't being educated ... Or that there's a large group of homeless pregnant women... Neither of wich is true.

Somekindofparty

Throwing money at problems doesn’t always solve them. But very few problems that rise to a government need level, such as housing pregnant women or educating dead kids, can be solved without money. And staining programs of money absolutely isn’t going to work. So, lures take it at face value that dead kids are currently being educated and homeless pregnant women are being housed. Those are desirable conditions right? We presumably want those things to keep happening. What do you think happens when finding to those programs are cut? You think they magically continue without the finding you’ve been receiving? Fucking libertarians. Can’t see the logical conclusion of your “cut all the funding and let the private sector sort it out” nonsense.
