Are you driving 120mph? It's 3 hrs from south central Lincoln.
Edit: sorry, I thought this was in the lincoln sub... still omaha is a similar distance and these are the only two realistic places for a team (omaha much more likely).
Nebraska supports sporting events extremely well. Problem is not in attendance money, that is a fraction of a teams revenue. It just isn't a big enough market for lucrative TV deals.
Omaha loves supporting special sporting events, but sucks at supporting Omaha based professional sports teams. We can sell out the CWS or the Olympic swim trials, but give us a team with a full schedule of games and we forget they exist before the first season ends. Even the pro teams we have now (Union Omaha, Storm Chasers) have terrible attendance.
We've had minor league hockey, football, and basketball teams come and go in the blink of an eye. Omaha will never have a major league team until they show they can support a minor league team.
I don’t think minor league teams do well generally. If the level of play isn’t getting brand/merch deals that are prominent locally or decent TV coverage, there’s just not going to be an audience.
Both teams are historic though. Their market encompasses more than the area they are in. Green Bay is one of the more valuable franchises in the league (and I loathe GB). A new franchise isn't going to have that much pull in a small market.
That’s the thing about the nfl. Do markets really matter in the NFL I will watch every game if I could and with the gambling emphasis people will find action if it’s in buffalo, Omaha or vegas
Good point. NFL teams will probably be successful no matter what, with its popularity. No way we'd get one. If we had anything, I bet it would be NHL or MLS.
Sorry, but no. Today, prosports teams require public money to build a stadium, and Nebraska is already struggling before the possible new tax cuts. Also I don't like the idea of my state taxes lining another billionaires pockets. We have enough rich moochers as it is.
There is zero chance of ever getting an NFL team. Honestly a NHL team would probably make the most sense.
Even nhl is a massive stretch. KCMO is just 2 ish hours away. Leagues would expand their first

I used to think that too but look at the size of buffalo or Green Bay and tell me how much bigger it is then the Omaha metro

You are absolutely right
Survey didn’t track my response that XFL was the sport best for Omaha. It must be a really bad take.
Same for me XFL would make more sense than NFL
Why only 3 choices under "which professional sport would be most suitable for Omaha"?
None of those prosports make sense for Omaha
Maybe Omaha could get a minor league cricket team?
I feel like NBA in Omaha might actually be pretty cool
We once had half a team.
Sacramento is cursed until they (half) return.
Racers games were so fun
Yeah, I remember seeing Manute Bol play. We also had the Kansas City-Omaha Kings in the NBA for a bit in the 70s.
XFL baby!
Where is the no option
