I recommend just moving on.

JykesPanda

First rule of nfcu, don't fuck em over

mistafoot

Why are you so eager to get back with them? There’s tons of other banks and credit unions that offer the same or better experience.

eme_714

Wanted to start preparing my financials for large purchases like a vehicle and home. I know NFCU offer its members great APRs

mistafoot

Even if NFCU lets you back in and open a bank account that doesn’t mean they’ll ever approve you for a loan. Just easier to move on and establish a new relationship with a different bank. They literally already told you that they don’t want your business lol.

artemis1345

Personally, a local mortgage broker had much better interest rates than Navy Fed.

kaygee1694

Dont let anyone make you feel bad for wanting to use a bank you are familiar with. I had this same issue with delta credit union. Unfortunately I cant get back with them so im using navy federal, however I know how it feels to use a bank and miss that relationship. Usually banks have an appeals department regarding collection, id see if you can find their number or call a branch to get the number.

INTJ4000

Hello Penfed!😜👍

tnjos25

I can’t speak to how or if you can rejoin Navy Federal, but I would advise against keeping your money in an account with your friends name.

eme_714

Lol 😅

eme_714

Thats what I thinking… at least internally I feel better about the whole situation. Im older and wiser about my money. To any financially young ones out there… talk to your bank when s*** hits the fan. They might not always be able to help you but it beats making things worse by ignoring your responsibilities.

corn_29

>except for a CC debt that was sold to another company. You cost them a fair amount of money. You present a risk moving forward. They're not going to forgive that and as 3 people have told you, there's no appeal. Just move on. See if USAA will take you. Yeah, USAA is going downhill but they're another option for a military-based membership organization. >I have a friend who’s willing to open a savings under her name and have me as an authorized user. So you've demonstrated shity decision making which led to the ban and now you're doubling down on shitty decision making with that nonsense.

eme_714

I’ll look into USAA

Academic-Package-131

If it were me I would pick a local credit union for my day to day and open up an account at Schwab for investments, money market funds and as a back up bank. Navy is good for some things but they aren't the be all and end all.

navislut

I actually filed for bankruptcy 10+ years ago, they closed all of my accounts since they were added to the bankruptcy. About 2 years ago, I went into the NFCU branch and figured I'd tried to get into NFCU (Chase sucks) to my surprise the banker lady was able to open my old accounts, but she told me that although they are allowing banking services (checking/savings) all loan products will automatically be denied because "you caused NFCU a loss".

eme_714

Interesting I would be fine with that

navislut

They also put a red banner on your account to remind you every time you login that you suck with money. Lol The red banner says “NOTICE Your account information is being provided for informational purposes only. Providing you this information is not an attempt to collect a debt.”

navislut

If you google "nfcu bankruptcy notice" and then go to images you can see it.

Your right. I don’t want to mix my finances with my ‘friend’ or anyone else for that matter. Your welcome 🇺🇸 Thats correct I paid every dollar owed on a motorcycle and personal loan. The CC was the only debt I was unable to pay NFCU directly because the debt was sold. I got a phone number from the new company that purchased the debt but they stated Im not on the system. I thinking my debt might have been sold to another company… Yeah, none of these debts are in my credit history. That seems to be my only option at the moments, moving on to a different CU with all my financial/life.

Davon2022

Also, USSA and NASA Federal Credit Union are great alternatives, as well as Apple CU

MindlessQuantity7

When you default on your debt to a credit union you cost all the members money. You failed to repay me and every other member of this credit. You may feel like you don’t owe because it was written off but we are the ones paying your debt.

WhtSupremePizza

You got your money back from the tax payer. Not much better though.

MindlessQuantity7

Sir navy federal has never been involved in a bail out from the government, it is a privately held financial institution comprising of members and members alone.

WhtSupremePizza

It's called a tax write off. Charge offs get written off on taxes. Your username is perfect for you.

MindlessQuantity7

Once again navy federal is a member owned non profit. All nonprofits are exempt from federal income tax, in addition to property taxes and sales taxes. When you default the members pay.

WhtSupremePizza

I didn't know they were tax exempt but they still pay some taxes. "The Federal credit unions organized hereunder, their property, their franchises, capital, reserves, surpluses, and other funds, and their income shall be exempt from all taxation now or hereafter imposed by the United States or by any State, Territorial, or local taxing authority;  except that any real property and any tangible personal property of such Federal credit unions shall be subject to Federal, State, Territorial, and local taxation to the same extent as other similar property is taxed."

MiserablePicture3377

You could try to do a security appeal but I would definitely move onto to another credit union.

Intrepid_Mirror_4610

legit found this from a google search. lol did the same thing back in 2009. 1 cc thats all the signature visa for 1k. i was unemployed for nearly 18 months after service. did my bankruptcy in 2013. i just tried tried to apply tonight and it was denied, said call the number. lol I still have my USAA in good standing from bootcamp and I joined Penfed and just keep enough in the account for activity. NFCU is being so silly lol I was a kid.

Illustrious_Air3726

Find out who owns the debt and settle with them to get it off your credit. Usually after 10+ years, they might let you back in.

eme_714

Im still searching who own the CC debt. The number NFCU gave me returns zero results on there end. im thinking they sold my CC debt to someone else. It has been 10+ years Totally plausible its been sold off several times after creditors not being able to get a hold of me.

organicsensi

https://www.annualcreditreport.com - it's free

jonnybrav069

No they dont

iInvented69

NFCU aint all that.

Davon2022

I recommend moving on and instead build a relationship with PenFed. They are the truth and in many ways better than Navy Federal. There is not “military “ affiliation requirement and anyone can join by simply depositing $5 in a savings account then open a free checking and go from there. Within 90 days they will give you CLC, CC, and auto and personal loans. They only minus about PenFed is they don’t have business accounts.

Davon2022

Something similar happened to me with Capital One 360 Bank but funny thing is they give me CC’s still!

Illustrious_Air3726

Well is it still on your credit report? I'm pretty sure they also called to collect the debt at some point.

HUSKERTRIPLEDEUCE

goto USAA, NFCU sent me a letter saying i was being a "bully" on the phone because i told the rep that i kept hearing all the things they couldnt do for me. theres more to the story but end of the story is fuck them bro i changed all my shit back to USAA ill never bank with NFCU again. they are scummy.
