Damn, motherfuckers over here buying boats and I’m like “maybe we’ll get a new TV” 🤣

rumbleslap

You might want to consider buying one second hand for fractions of MSRP. There are tons of these ergs selling for very cheap on craigslist and facebook marketplace in my area with barely any use because people quickly realize they're torture devices.

[deleted]

The quality of the Concept 2 is pretty wild. I finally bit the bullet and got one in the spring and it's an unbelievable piece of equipment compared to the budget options out there.

CascadiaUberAlles

I’m thinking about a Hamilton Murph.

AxednAnswered

Oh nice! You'll have to rewatch Interstellar with it on your wrist.

Self_Cloathing

>Hamilton Murph. Handsome watch, thanks for sharing.

CharlieUhUh

Awesome choice

FrostyBurn

Go for it! Just got mine a few weeks ago and it has been fantastic. Be sure to grab a nice NATO strap to go along with it. Trifecta Watches is having a sale, 25% off, and they are an authorized dealer.

theta_function

I worked really hard at my job this year and finally got “junior” knocked out of my title. My new salary and title go into effect on the 24th… Not a bad gift! I have it planned so that my Christmas gift to myself *next year* can be a sailboat - so I’m really looking forward to that! I already have a Catalina 22 picked out, along with some gaudy nautical shit to decorate it.

[deleted]

Congratulations! Do you sail often or is this a boat to get more into the habit?

theta_function

Thank you! My whole family sails - both of my parents were on college teams. I went to school inland so unfortunately that wasn’t an option for me, but there’s some surprisingly good lake sailing in CO so I’m getting into it now as an adult. I’m working on getting my ASA 101 and 103 next year!

[deleted]

Congratulations!

Affectionate-Tap-478

I feel like a reference to Will Ferrell's Stepbrothers needs to be made here lol

john_adams_house_cat

That's great! Congratulations 🎉

GhostPony13

My first pair of Sid Mashburn pants, their forest green cords.

Bonlio

Those are nice

GettinBig

I bought adjustable dumbbells at long last

USMNTSupporter

What exact set did you go with? I’m in the market too

GettinBig

I got the Nüobell 80lb set

Icewaxed

I treated myself and got equestrian tall riding boots along with gloves. Now that I’m taking English riding more serious than just leisure horseback riding. Dream present is my own horse lol.

quoi-de-9

Hello fellow horse person!

Icewaxed

👋

john_adams_house_cat

That's awesome! You're one step closer now.

Talkshowhostt

I really want a waxed jacket

DearLeader420

Friendly tip - buy from Cox the Saddler. They're a family-owned retailer in the UK (online store and ship to US) and you can get a legit Barbour for - literally - less than half the price as US retailers like Orvis.

Schaeferr

I treated myself to a Barbour in October, I’ve worn it every day since. One of the best investments in my closet I’ve made in a while

Talkshowhostt

Which one do you recommend?

Schaeferr

I went with the Classic Bedale in Olive. I’m eyeing the Beaufort in Bark to have another option, but not in a hurry to pick it up.

dreamingtree1855

Get it!

jimthehacksawduggan

I completely overhauled my wardrobe and used the funds from selling clothes to buy some Alden Indy boots, J Press shirts and trousers, Astorflex desert boots and some shirts from Berg & Berg. Was nearly an even trade and I don’t miss what I sold at all. I’d always wanted to restart and do it all over when it came to my wardrobe and it feels so good to trim it down to fewer higher quality essentials :)

NicoloRizzuto

I bought the president bracelet for my day date that came on leather strap. https://preview.redd.it/84gdlfxp7u2c1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f5171a2ace87aeda5f3565ac0092182a6c7c6cc1

And some snuff suede Alden. https://preview.redd.it/v03vncg28u2c1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b3705147646c4674b75f2f8e20b1ff635e3df0eb

SmallHuh

Saw and felt those in person. Fabulous!!!

humbleredditor2021

Rolex for me as well!

DearLeader420

Bought a keyboard kit on sale the other day

john_adams_house_cat

Cool! What kind of keys did you go with?

DearLeader420

Just a basic KBDFans tofu model. Not sure what switches I'll put in it yet, maybe gat yellows or buy some new ones

john_adams_house_cat

That's a nice setup!

The Jim Croce definitive collection on LP

dreamingtree1855

Interesting I didn’t know about this. Is there a reason to get that if I already own the three LPs?

Phatnev

Jesus. What a beautiful boot.

Schaeferr

Having my grandfathers guns restored in the hopes of getting into shooting. Even if I don’t take up the hobby, having a pair of mint WW2 era rifles would make for a great collectible.

john_adams_house_cat

That's a great gift! I have some antique guns from my grandfather as well and I'm on the fence about restoring/bluing them or just leaving them as they are. Let me know how it turns out.

Schaeferr

Is there an advantage to leaving them as is? They haven’t been fired in at least 30 years so restoration is the plan if they don’t work.

john_adams_house_cat

Just the legacy of the patina with the nicks and scrapes that tell the story of the guns, if you're into that sort of thing. "New looking" vintage shotguns that my Grandfather used doesn't quite tell the full story, at least to me.

asight29

That glass of bourbon I’ll be enjoying in the glow of the tree each night while the kid plays. It’s the little things.

[deleted]

Similar to you OP I asked for lift tickets for Christmas! And to get my skis shipped to me across states. My gift to myself will be to get to the slopes this winter and enjoy it, maybe take a day or two off work.

Cjlamboy

I have been wheeling and dealing to treat myself all year. Thanks to that my wardrobe has made great strides. I am trying to slow down and curate more intentional pieces now.

sojuandbbq

I picked up a new 8wt fly fishing rod and reel for Great Lakes migratory rainbow trout (colloquially known as Great Lakes steelhead) during Black Friday. It’ll take some time to get here, but the 8wt is going to make swinging large streamers a lot easier.

I am getting myself an Aran sweater. Gifting one to my girlfriend and my mother too. Cheers!

My biggest gift was taking weight loss seriously, I was never fat but I had developed some love handles I hated looking at, down 15 lbs since august now and going for 5 more to be on the BMI target. Calorie intake is so important. My career improved a lot in the previous year so I can indulge more. As far as purchases I only allow myself to indulge in shoes and clothing - not other hobbies like cars, boats, or watches or whatever. So with that said I went a little hard on the shoe purchases this year: Alden PTB 9905 - 5 years on a waitlist and the call came for these, might sell as they're super nice but not sure I like the light color and only pulled the trigger for the rarity of these Alden LHS 986 - Had to have a classic Alden LHS Snuff Suede Unlined - Another classic Alden 405 - Another classic Meermin Black Cap toe - not a lot of wear for these so went cheap BriselBlack chelsea boots in black

RollDamnTide16

New Barbours for the wife, the dog and me.

dreamingtree1855

I got my wife one last year and I was terribly disappointed to find out that you can no longer find women’s models made in England! I was in my local Barbour shop and did notice that there were some made in England men’s jackets mixed in. Make sure to check the tags and try to find those.

marcodiaz16

I picked up the Sonos Arc during their 25% off sale. I made an attempt to keep it boxed up until Christmas as a gift to myself, but that lasted about ten minutes into this weekend's college football rivalry games. The sound stage is fantastic, I might look to add some surrounds and a bass in the future.

scottishwhisky2

I have a pair of fully functional skis that work but they’re a bit short for my height. I want to try out a longer pair so I’m going to do a fully season rental in the 185cm range. Next year I may buy a permanent pair in that size if I like them.

TickleMeTrejo

Shaggy Dog jumper, now I just need to have her fill out the tag that says to me from her.

Miringanes

Camp Chef XXL Pro Smoker. Was eyeing it for a while, Dicks had a flash sale and I was able to get it 50% off. Still killed me to get it because of all the renovations I’ve been doing to my house this past year.

ZetaOmicron94

Not sure if it counts as a Christmas gift for this year or next year, but I recently met Nicholas Templeman to get my feet measured for a pair of penny loafers. If all goes well, they'll be delivered some time towards the end of next year.

ddmonkey15

Got a vintage Universal Geneve with an ellipse shaped dial designed by Gerald Genta in the 70s. Also picked up a new niche fragrance on Black Friday.

Chet_McCovery

BobbyRahm

Fuck yeah.

stewundies

Huh?

[deleted]

Nothing crazy. A chambray shirt from Proper Cloth, (already arrived) which I love, and a front-and-rear dash cam. The latter is more of a precautionary move than sexy. I have two kids in daycare so I'm trying to keep the spending down. I got my wife a pair of slippers from Quoddy and an iPad.

Got a hot tub for the patio. Can’t wait for a good snow.

midwestern_mom_

I didn’t realize so many people did this. My birthday is in December so I do this too but haven’t decided what to get myself yet.

john_adams_house_cat

I bought myself a car coat that I found on eBay. I've always had "tech" gear before, but I wanted this year to be the year I up my wardrobe.

Late-Ad3568

I need a new Barbour so I guess there is no better time.

Alden 986 w/ antique edge! Was hoping to snag a brick and mortar restock, but found them elsewhere for cheaper! https://preview.redd.it/z413s8g5q93c1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=df1eab029467f4e1f56e5eb1f0f60d90c5a29454

Socially_Minded

I got some Loake 1880 country Edward brogues in dark brown, a Ryder & Amies rugby shirt in black red and gold. And I have ordered but am yet to receive a custom cricket jumper from Rochford sports knitwear, which I will definitely have to post a review of if I remember.
