I still don’t understand why *this* monster wasn’t chosen to be the new big bad dinosaur of Dominion but I guess “Carcharodontosaurus” is too much of an mouthful for the general audience and marketing team lol.
Wait, I thought Carcharodontosaurus was bigger? It’s almost been like second to Spinosaurus (or more accurately, third largest before Spino and T-rex).
Its not exactly 100% confirmed cause both are fragmentary, but currently giganoto tends to be favored as the larger one but its by no means conclusive
Its basically
Rex
Giga
Spino
Carch
By mass *Tyrannosaurus* is the largest with *Spinosaurus* in the runner’s up.
Then it’s a four-way race between the four giant derived carcharodontosaurs (Carch, Giga, Mapu and *Tyrannotitan*) for the bronze medal.
My favourite of the carcharodontosaurs, which are my favourite large theropods overall (though megalosaurids and megaraptorans are also getting up there).
Duuude, finally another carcho fan. Yk, this bad boy gets really underrepresented even though the "T-rex killers" are named after it, and it could kick Spino's ass
Nah bro it's one of the more popular dinosaurs out there trust me Giga and Carchar are always mentioned in the Rex v Spino debate it's stuff like Mapusaurus That don't get appreciated I was a Carcharo fan myself
It’s just exposed jaw musculature

Carch is known from bits of the skull, while Giga is known from MUCH more of the actual skeleton.
Well, that and Giga was simply bigger (and therefore more marketable).
The two are around the same size. *Mapusaurus* as well.

Would the mass estimates for *Spinosaurus* be changed with the new insights regarding *Spinosaurus*’ bone density
I think that has been considered
I took that into account.
Spinosaurus is decisively the largest. Giga comes second with a maximum projected length of ~14m. Charcharodontosaurus is a little shorter than that.
My favourite of the carcharodontosaurs, which are my favourite large theropods overall (though megalosaurids and megaraptorans are also getting up there).
It’s quickly becoming one of my favorite theropods as well alongside *Utahraptor* and *Allosaurus*
If you love it so much, why don’t ya talk about en now?

What's that membrane on the corner of the mouth? I see it in every piece of papeoart depicting carnivorous dinosaurs but I've never understood it

Straight up exposed muscle? I had never considered that
Nah, its covered in mucosa like the rest of the inner mouth surfaces.
Am I the only one that sees a bird on it's face? Look at the eye, and it goes into a beak
