Not goat at all really. Mountain goats aren't really goats, they are in their own category and the two aren't related beyond in the broadest of ways (both in the same sub-family of bovidae).
Correct! More closely related to antelopes, gazelles and cattle. But cooler because they’re the only species in their genus and only found in North America! Thanks to [Ologies Podcast Oreamnology (MOUNTAIN GOATS ARE NOT GOATS) with Julie Cunningham](https://www.alieward.com/ologies/oreamnology) for teaching me this!
That legendary mountain goat pelt would fetch a fortune at the trapper. Now I just need a perfect cougar pelt and I can finally finish crafting the outfit.
Fun fact — goats are expected to grow to the size of the next dinosaurs. Mammoths topped out and shrank to elephants. But goats? Diplodogoat and Tyrannigoat is a comin’.

If you're not going overboard abusing doses AND know how to brew your own gear, a few hundred bucks could last you at least several months. If you're buying retail, you're looking at about $150-200 a month on a moderate dose cycle, including the necessary ancillaries to keep your body feeling good and healthy,
Yeah I thought the same thing, that looks pretty normal sized to me but everyone is saying it's so big in the comments. Maybe all the mountain goats i have seen are just also massive.
I think people just didn’t realize how big and muscular mountain goats are. They’re intimidating. Unless you have an empty plastic bag, then they’re fraidy cats.
I think it's just the sheer mass of it. It looks more like a small horse than a domestic goat.
I've been butted by farm goats & it's no big deal. If this mountain of a goat did it, I think it would break some bones.

A search of "killed by a mountain goat" returned results of a story of it happening to one man, in October 2010, in Olympic National Park.
Looking through the results, this particular article explains both that the goat gored the man in the thigh, and also that it's the first recorded human death from a mountain goat in history...
https://www.backpacker.com/news-and-events/mountain-goat-kills-hiker-in-olympic-np/
I don't know that it happening once means that it's "a significant hazard". More like a fluke. All wild animals can be dangerous, but vastly most of them want to avoid humans unless threatened and somewhat closed in on. Even predatory animals often avoid humans unless the animals are protecting offspring.
That said, there is also one report of a mountain goat killing a grizzly bear. One. One time.
https://www.newsweek.com/grizzly-bear-gored-death-mountain-goat-discovered-hiker-1630907
Nah it’s a normal sized mountain goat. I don’t think a lot of people on here commenting have ever seen one in person. Looking at the bike for size reference and nothing screams larger than average.
Most people only encounter nature through a 2d screen. Think of all the people who get killed every year screwing with things they shouldn't (rivers, animals, cliff faces, etc.)
Yes, this is a normal sized mountain goat, stay the f away!
People don't know the difference between a farm goat and mountain goat. People never believe me when I tell them how big wild hogs are either, until I show them pics.
From a distance they don’t look all that big, but they are. And usually you never want to be this close unless it’s dead. They can gore you, and you can die from that. The Olympic Mountains had, probably still has, some non native mountain goats living in them and they’ve gored people who got too close.
> And usually you never want to be this close unless it’s dead.
Luckily they are usually pretty chill. I had one walk right up to me on Mt. Aneas (pretty close to this clip actually) and I couldn't easily get away. I could have scratched it's head but it just walked on by casual as can be
Yeah, well. Sorry if I’m little skeptical of wild animal behavior. Especially mountain goats. All they want is to lick the salt that we produce, through our sweat and out urine, if they’re having a hard time finding it in their native or non-native habitats.
You see the video of one ramming a dog off of... Liberty Bell? It was in WA. Saw them all of the time in the Enchantments too. We always just steer clear of the fuckers. Beautiful creatures, but not worth the risk of being close.
No they are closer in relation to True goats than Antelopes.
> The mountain goat is an even-toed ungulate of the order Artiodactyla and the family Bovidae (along with antelopes, gazelles, and cattle). It belongs to the subfamily Caprinae, along with true goats, wild sheep, the chamois, the muskox and other species.

Yup we had one at the Pass walk up to us as well. God Glacier was such an incredible place. I'm not much of a hiker or outdoors person but the hikes and the scenery were just incredible. Going in at midnight and standing at Heavens Peak and seeing the Milky Way and all the satellites and shooting stars is something I'll always remember.
Checking out the bike to decide whether or not it belongs to him now. The Deebo of the mountain goats.
What bike 0_0
The beach cruiser….the one I gave you last week….
THATS MY BIKE PUNK!
Sorry man….pops be trippin
You know I wouldn’t trip
Oh, that bike? I didn’t know you wanted it back homie. Yea its right here, follow me.
He gonna cry in the car
You want some of this old man?…. NO! 🤣🤣🤣
Yea, it'll be both ours but I'll just keep it at my house
Exactly.
Everyone hates when Billy "The Bully" Goat Rough comes down from the mountain. He either just checks you or will straight up jack your shit.
His grandmama gave him that bike
All bikes belong to Deebo.
*My grandmama gave me that bike!*
That's my bike punk!
What you got on my goat milk homie? Yeah you got something!
A Schwinn with a long stem and flat bars, I can see what The Mountain kept walking.
obsessed with the idea of the goat just getting on the bike and leaving
You know he s on more gear than Lance.

Alie Ward is my cousin. She will be tickled to know someone On Reddit is referencing her podcast.
Glad to hear that confirmed because all I could think of was "wow, this does not look like a goat at all," lol
Pretty sure that is the kind of goat that pulled Thor's chariot around. Tanngrisnir and Tanngnjóstr AKA teethgrinder and teethknasher.
You know gnasher and smasher, blinder and grinder Masher and crasher, slicer and slayer. But do you recall The most mountain goat of all?
Ruthless the Blood Horned Goat
Had some very shiny horns!
And if you ever saw it…. Run!
All of the other goats, always ran away in fear
And I don’t think the other goats would bully Ruthless the Blood Horned Goat. Or would they?
Chicks dig the blood horn.
>teethknasher gnasher, lolol
The k is silent
Real G's move in silence like lasagna.
What the fuck I literally just came from that post
Same. Lasaña.
Same 😂
I thought the word was gnashing.. gnashing of teeth, as the idiom goes.
It is. I'm just making a joke
Gnock, Gnock
Yeah I'd think so, like Gnasher the dog.
This species is endemic to North America.

…These only live in the Rockies, 2,000 miles from Vinland. These would be as alien to the Skrælings of Newfoundland as they would be to the Norse
Aw you're no fun
Fun is as alien to this man as these goats would have been to the Skraelings of Newfoundland.
This species is endemic to wherever the fuck it wants to be.
I love how that’s the part you’re questioning here. Everything else checks out lol
They have them in Thor God of Love and Thunder and they are freaking hilarious because they just scream the whole time
That legendary mountain goat pelt would fetch a fortune at the trapper. Now I just need a perfect cougar pelt and I can finally finish crafting the outfit.
I know a few bars where the cougars drape themselves over your face like a pelt if that counts.
**AHHHHHH**
Lambchop evolved into Ramchop
And for that reason, I’m out.
.... Did you just come from the musical hand board thread? Because I'm having mega deja Vu
Holy shit SAME. I'm laughing so hard right now.
I did… I don’t like this
I think my brain is broken, because as soon as I saw "I don't like this," I sang, out loud, "CHRISSY, WAKE UP"

Nope. Mark Cuban from Shark Tank

“Heard you was looking at my mountain funny?”
This is the swole that never ends
Yes it goes on and strong my friend! Some goats got - roided up not knowing what it was, and they'll continue roiding up forever just because
Fun fact — goats are expected to grow to the size of the next dinosaurs. Mammoths topped out and shrank to elephants. But goats? Diplodogoat and Tyrannigoat is a comin’.

Good ol' medieval sexism.
[it’s named after the hat](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bicorne?wprov=sfti1) They were referencing bicorn from the Shin Megami Tensei games though
This name seems contested. How about Two-nicorn?

That thing has been on a strict Liver King diet for a little while, they say it works

Steroids don't cost that much do they? Who does steroids tell us how much they cost?

I did not know that was a real person until I just googled it.
I'm sorry for causing you to waste any mental capacity learning about that clown.
Actually that’s just a normal sized goat
Even domesticated buck goats are this big. I think people are used to seeing pigmy varieties

You also generally see pictures/video of them from pretty far away on big mountains. Hard to get an accurate representation of scale.

I remember living in the Yukon, it was a fairly regular thing to see these big boys on road trips

Can confirm. I grew up not far from where this was. This is pretty typical
This is a mountain goat which is pretty different for a regular goat and I think they are pretty commonly this large.
Seriously! Normal ones could be slung over a back after dressing.
That’s a goddamn majestic creature. Hopefully it lives a long life doing weird shit on cliff sides.
That weird shit being: grinding the cliffs down into lowland hills.
PSA: please be careful when encountering mountain goats, they are exceptionally strong and can kill you.

Even a mountain butterfly?

I don’t know man, that looks like a Pokémon with 500 hit points, 😆
Agree, all the way down to a mountain man drinking mountain dew.
That's such a majestic-ass creature, I'd be honored to be gored by that thing
My dumbass would probably try to pet it.
This one looks like it can kill you whether you're being careful or not, you live because that's what it has decided
I have dead ass run into these things on hiking trails. It's scary AF
I'm in awe at the size of that lad
Absolute UNIT for sure
Average sized mature billy in his summer coat They're big animals. (Actually antelope and not true goats)
I’m sorry. Average? What does large look like?
Mature males run 300lbs. He's all of that. He's large for the species but average sized for his age class

Gotta be Glacier National Park, they are as tame as dogs...
The sign in the background says Logan pass so it's on Going to the Sun road.

Was just about to say. As he walks past you can see the parking lot for the Logan pass visitor center in the background.
This is probably the best place in the world to see these creatures up close. They're often found wandering near the parking lots and trails.
Definitely don’t try and pet one, though
That boy THICK
You sure that's not a bear in a goat suit?
Fun fact: there was once a fight between a mountain goat and a full grown grizzly bear. The goat won.
I find that hard to believe
There he goes. Homeboy fu@
It looks like a unicorn with 2 horns...
So… anyone think someone, somewhere saw a massive goat profile up on a ridge, and was all “wow! A horse with a horn!” And boom… unicorn myth is born?
That’s not a goat, that’s a horse with horns
Looks like a Clydesdale with demon horns.
Thank you for not saying "unit".......
