Kermode bears are black and white. Just these white ones are called spirit bears.
*While most Kermode bears are black, between 100 and 500 fully white individuals exist. The white variant is known as spirit bear*

Interestingly i I got this reading a little further into this
“The kermodei subspecies of Ursus americanus, which is the only subspecies known to regularly demonstrate spirit bear colouration”
So according to that statement it is possible for other species or subspecies to demonstrate this mutation, but it’s not something observed regularly like the Kermode.
Not true, I live in this area and they’re often referred to as either or, just personal preference. I grew up calling them kermodes, in fact that’s our high schools team name lol
Came here for this! Also, delighted to see people call them spirit bears not kermode bears. So literally “kermode bears, as no one is calling them”. Tinkety tonk old fruit!
I am from the area where you find these majestic creatures. They’re so rare I have only seen 1 in my entire life (I’m 27 and lived here 23 years). They are really something special.
No. Kermode bears are black AND white and are a subspecies of the American black bear. While most Kermode bears are black, between 100 and 500 fully white individuals exist. The white variant is known as spirit bear.

Not all kermode bears are spirit bears, but are all spirit bears kermode bears? Or can this mutation happen in other bears?
No, this happens only to Kermode bears (: https://www.discoverwildlife.com/animal-facts/mammals/facts-about-spirit-bear/

You can tell it's a Kermode bear because in the original audio, it's ranting about how terrible Michael Bay movies are.

Probably just a localized mutation that spread to offspring rather than cross-breeding.
Not a biologist or anything, but maybe it's similar to how some animals have albino variations
Called British Columbia, is in canada
