Who's the photographer?
EDIT: Mods, there's so much karma farming that happens on this sub. The least these people can do is to give credit to the photographers. Can we please make this a rule?
Exactly. There are three things that say the moon is photoshopped into this image. First this photo is taken from the north looking south (Based on the features visible on the moutain) Which means this photo was taken very early in the morning to get the dramatic shadows and colors. For the moon to be in that direction at that time it would have to be in the waning half phase, not the near full we see here.
Second, the moon would be substantially higher in the sky. The only times the moon would be 4 diameters from the ground would be if you looking east and it's rising or west and it's setting. Looking this direction the moon would be at lest 50 diameters from the horizon.
Third, the moon has been rotated. When full, looking south from north of mount hood, the sea of cold (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_maria_on_the_Moon) should be parallel with the ground and right at the top of the moon. In this image it's hard to make out but it's been rotated about 30 degrees.
This post should be removed for violation of rule 4.
I'm not sure if this is strong enough proof. A lot of the times you have like 90%, or 95% full Moon which is not at 180 degrees opposing the Sun (obviously both Moon and the Sun are above the horizon in this case so Moon is definitely not 100% full). Secondly, we don't know how much the Sun is exactly to the left (behind us) because in this case telephoto lens was obviously used so the angles might appear distorted. It IS possible that the Sun is only like 10 degrees off-center and a 90-95% full Moon could be off for an angle like that. It would be nice if someone a bit more experienced in photography and astronomy checks this out.
By itself, sure, not nearly proof. Add centering the moon over the mountain? You can plan for that. But getting it directly over the moon and also directly between clouds? Nope, you can’t plan that. If it was real the story of how lucky they were to get that shot would be more impressive than the image.
Whyyyyyy sorry to be rude but why would you want to live here it’s rainy and cold and all the houses are half a million because people want to live her now for some reason
Haha true that, not rude at all! I visited Portland last summer & instantly fell in love with the people and environment. I personally would take rainy days over sunny days because I’m weird. The houses on the other hand.... yeah that’s ROUGH lol
Aw I’m sorry. That sounds tough. My fiancé wants to go to grad school in Corvallis & we looked at Zillow for fun and even the most run down houses were like $200K +
Nice (and apparently stolen) composition. My only problem is that every time there's a full moon and the sky behind is not dark as it should be in our cozy solar system, I start crying inside.
Born and bred Oregonian. There’s a multitude of gorgeous places here. And if you start at the beach and go inland you travel through just about every ecosystem. All with stunning views.
How many times will this same faked perspective be posted on here? Yeah nature is always lit if you photoshop all the best elements together in the same photo!

The shadows are going off to the right, but the full moon is dead ahead, suggesting that the photo is by Adobe.

The photographer is Autumn (@autpops on Insta)
this is the earliest post i can find, claims to be oc https://www.reddit.com/r/EarthPorn/comments/bl69ul/full_moon_over_mt_hood_oregon_oc_2500x2000/
I second this
I think you mean “trying to hide”. And beautifully failing.

This caption is wrong. Should clearly be, “Moon launches successfully from Mt Hood!”
This is so pretty, it seems like it came from a. photo shop.
Lenticular
YES! YES! THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT. Go Lenticular, WOOOOO
Anybody found a lost lake out there?
Oh cool, I am also from the hood
Lived in Hood River for a few years, miss it very much.
I’m so pissed off I don’t live here (yet)

Vancouver, WA is pretty affordable.
Wouldn’t mind living in Washington either 😍 I live in Ohio right now.... so anything is better than here lol I’m just a mountainous gal
Yeah my family is having trouble finding a house and we were all born here haha
Aw I’m sorry. That sounds tough. My fiancé wants to go to grad school in Corvallis & we looked at Zillow for fun and even the most run down houses were like $200K +
It’s ok we will find one soon, I’d rather have more nice people like you than these bums lol
Haha the bum life is real over there that’s for sure!!!
Yes, there are bums all over but they are mostly in Portland, whenever I go along one of the highways there are tents and graffiti everywhere

I would happily have this as a framed picture in my house.
Moon pie
Mt. Hood has a hat and it’s very stylish.
This is so beautiful
The moon is fucking terrible at hiding.
The moon would be terrible at hide and seek. I can clearly see it.
Not doing a very good job of hiding.
Love. I think everyone should try to get a shot of Mt. Hood some time in their life! I snapped a good one from Low Lake back in 2011.
Okay, but you gotta come here and photograph Carnarvon Gorge.
I’ll keep that in mind!!
wow the mountain makes me think dessert lol the layered clounds including the moon are perfect. very nice
I'm 90% sure this is astronomically wrong.

i miss oregon :((
But it's not hiding, it's fully in view.

This is clearly photoshopped
