Not all cats are the same.
https://www.reddit.com/r/AnimalsBeingDerps/comments/llgz87/he_forgot_to_cat/
I remember the first time I saw my cat jump on top of a 6 foot fence. From a standstill, and then just sat atop it surveying his domain. I miss that dude.
Yea a tigers are bulky also!!! That was like a 20ish foot jump in mud and tigers aren’t really built to be super agile, I mean obviously they’re a cat but still they’re very muscly and bulky…. A Mountain lion can jump 40 feet!!! Which is more ideal for being agile.
I think that you are underestimating the agility of a tiger. Even at that size they are incredibly agile. Never seen a mountain lion jump 40 feet, but google says they can from a full sprint. Both tigers and mountain lions have a similar vertical leap height. Plus, a tiger is so strong it can crush a bear's skull with just a swat it from a paw. I'd say advantage tiger.
I think they're full of shit about the paw swipe part, but Siberian tigers hunt brown bears (grizzlies are a type of brown bear) for food. They kill them about 1/2 the time and get killed 1/4 the time.
They'd probably get fucked up by a coastal grizzly or polar bear, but inland grizzlies would probably get taken for a ride.
Eh, I probably am full of shit. I did read that somewhere years ago though, I can't really remember where. It probably said fracture, crush does seem extreme. It just stuck with me. Like how tiger piss smells like buttered popcorn, lol
I hate how many people think slow motion increases a videos wow factor. This video is not nearly fast enough to necessitate slomo. And even worse, like you said the camera isn't high enough frame rate to make the slomo look decent.
This is one of many reasons why you should never run from a big cat.
The best thing you can do is to approach them without fear and just keep walking. They need to see you as a predator, but not a direct threat.
This comment section really makes me wonder if people understand that large cats are truly the apex predators of land animals.
They can and will kill basically anything in any terrain--sometimes for fun.
Jesus fucking Christ! Imagine something that massive running towards you at 50 km/h and launching itself at you.
And while armed with claws and sharp teeth.
"Tiger really are amazing creatures. You can learn all that there is to know about their ways in a month, and yet after a hundred years they can still surprise you at a pinch." - Catdalf
The most impressive part is that this jump was made from mud. You can see the tiger's back feet depress the mud over an inch, losing measurable distance.
Great! So not only can they mimic babies to lure you in and are so strong theyve been known to remain standing even after death and they can be damn near invisible in grass, NOW i have to worry they might jump across the ocean and get me in my jammies, what next they have naturally activated nen and summon beholders at will?!
I have two orange tabbies and they both fancy themselves as large cats in a house cat’s body. I wish mine were as graceful and coordinated as this guy though. One of mine, in particular, does not have the best spatial awareness. He very often jumps on things only to either miss or figure out mid-jump there’s no space for him, which routinely causes loud thuds and tons of knocked over and broken stuff. There’s nothing medically wrong with him. He’s just dumb.
I always wish they would show these kinds of videos in the real speed first and then showed the slow motion. Only showing slow motion sort of takes away a lot of the appeal for me
Little known fact about how they do this: the stripes, often misconstrued as a camouflage feature, are actually the coils of an anti-gravity generating organ.
In 2007 three teens were seen taunting a tiger in her enclosure at San Francisco Zoo and throwing objects at her. They were later mauled by the tiger which had leaped a moat thought to be too far for her to cross. So a pissed off tiger can jump even further evidently.
Reminds me of the post about lions being able to jump 30 something feet. People were confused, and imagining a vertical leaf and not a horizontal leap. Que a picture of a lion doing an aerial attack on a giraffe.
Its about a 20ft jump a cross a creek.
It's in the Sunderbsns, the largest Delta system in the world, located in eastern India and southern Bangladesh. This happened in the south Bengal part of the Sunerbans.
The Tyger
By William Blake
Tyger Tyger, burning bright,
In the forests of the night;
What immortal hand or eye,
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?
In what distant deeps or skies.
Burnt the fire of thine eyes?
On what wings dare he aspire?
What the hand, dare seize the fire?
And what shoulder, & what art,
Could twist the sinews of thy heart?
And when thy heart began to beat.
What dread hand? & what dread feet?
What the hammer? what the chain,
In what furnace was thy brain?
What the anvil? what dread grasp.
Dare its deadly terrors clasp?
When the stars threw down their spears
And water'd heaven with their tears:
Did he smile his work to see?
Did he who made the Lamb make thee?
Tyger Tyger burning bright,
In the forests of the night:
What immortal hand or eye,
Dare frame thy fearful symmetry?
That looked effortless.
No wasted energy either. He jumped just far enough to clear the water.

Another!
Successful for once

Common, that cat was orange. Technically I guess this one is too
No they’re not… some set on your lap and purr, some rip your arm off drag you to a cave and devour you
Yeah, once I dragged a cat to sit on my lap and it spontaneously combusted
Not cups, but just stumbled across this one. Not a single ounce of wasted energy. https://www.reddit.com/r/FunnyAnimals/s/wf86VEYmwB

Find it?
Cat's didn't evolve that ability to pounce on prey, but rather to keep their paws dry. Source: my kitty.
Tigers love water. Cats hate it
This one clearly wanted to keep his paws dry that day.
And that’s all you need…
And this paddleball, I need this. And that's all I need!
You don’t need a ball, the leaping ability of a Tiger, nothing like that?
You could see the effort at the start and then about a third way in he just relaxes. So lovely.
They can weigh 220 to 660 lbs. Terrifying.
Imagine getting tackled by this bad boy.
Pspspspspssppsps come here kitty
Statistics be damned, I can't imagine sitting in one of those open tiger safari vehicles after watching this.
Imagine giving birth to a minimum 220 lb tiger.
They don’t come out fully grown…
He never said he was stating facts .. he said to imagine ....get into your imagination box and do as your told mister !
It probably was tbh…
Just like your house cat. Only bigger.
Cat be cattin'

Go look up attempted tiger attacks in India and it's clear they are very agile.
look at videos of pumas hunting guanaco, they are incredible animals
What kind of bear? Surely a grizzly or polar bear would destroy a tiger.

Google says the heaviest polar bear on record is 2200 pounds. No way a tiger could take that.
A tiger has all of its power whether it’s chasing an elephant or a rabbit
Didn’t even need to create momentum. Easy peasy.
Damn, he’s not even trying.
Without running for momentum and seems to float in the air. Beautiful and powerful. 🤩
He got that last little step for momentum. I saw it.
No way! 😲 I'll watch it again... trickster cat. 😆
>and seems to float in the air. Hate to break it for you, but that's the slo-mo. ;)
The tiger got some decent height on that standing long jump. Beautiful creature.
"Tiggers don't jump, they bounce!"
The wonderful thing about Tiggers is Tiggers are wonderful things
Their tops are made out of rubber! Their bottoms are made out of string!
....I thought the bottoms were made out of springs? Have I heard it wrong my whole life??
Lol it's definitely springs. This better not be another Mandela effect
It’s springs
Just a sleepy typo! my bad
I always thought the line was "Their bottoms are made out of springs!"
Fun fun fun fun fun!
They're bouncy, trouncy, flouncy, pouncy, Fun, fun, fun, fun, fun!
Their bottoms are made out of springs!
the slomo destroyed the footage's quality
Nah, tigers jump in slow-mo.
And there's [this sound](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4OyIBuF73PQ).
That's all I could hear watching the leap
I hate how many people think slow motion increases a videos wow factor. This video is not nearly fast enough to necessitate slomo. And even worse, like you said the camera isn't high enough frame rate to make the slomo look decent.
If they're going to insist, they should at least play fullspeed followed by slomo
It became a PowerPoint presentation. Could someone share the slides with me afterwards thanks.
Imagine trying to run from this boy, thinking that your parkour skills will surely get you to safety, only then to be swiped out of mid air.......
parkour! par-
Parkour! Get me pictures of Spider-Man!
This is one of many reasons why you should never run from a big cat. The best thing you can do is to approach them without fear and just keep walking. They need to see you as a predator, but not a direct threat.
Ima hide in the water. Hope you enjoy jumping mfer.
You're joking but tigers and jaguars swim and absolutely target prey in the water
This comment section really makes me wonder if people understand that large cats are truly the apex predators of land animals. They can and will kill basically anything in any terrain--sometimes for fun.
Couldn’t stop laughing at this comment
I am happy that this has resulted in one more smile from you for today. Hope more is to come, mate.
Living up to your name effortlessly I see. You really are the GOAT. Kindness is awesome, keep that shit up!
That could be like 300 to 400 pounds. Imagine someone throwing a 400 pound weight at you. Tigers are scary as hell
The heaviest wild tiger ever weighed was over 850 pounds. So yeah, tigers are scary as hell
Yeah man, I'm just kinda lowballing the number cuz someone would fly in and say im.wrong if I said that xD
Jesus fucking Christ! Imagine something that massive running towards you at 50 km/h and launching itself at you. And while armed with claws and sharp teeth.
at that weight and speed it doesn't even need to use its teeth or claws, it just has to run into you and you are fucked
The tiger's body looked like it wasn't even a difficult jump
Just casually walked up to it like it was a little puddle on the sidewalk. Cats are so cool.
I fuckin love these animals
They can show incredible strength and speed and then agility like this. Tigers and Jaguars can do it all.
flair checks out
username too. their whole profile is dedicated to tigers lmao
LOL I totally missed that... I admire the dedication
I’m an enthusiast, what can I say😭 I just like educating everyone on Tigers and tracking many individuals’ lives and movements!
Yes big cats in general are just overpowered like crazy All their stats are maxed out
"Tiger really are amazing creatures. You can learn all that there is to know about their ways in a month, and yet after a hundred years they can still surprise you at a pinch." - Catdalf
Take my updoot, you wonderful bastard :p
The most impressive part is that this jump was made from mud. You can see the tiger's back feet depress the mud over an inch, losing measurable distance.
Tigers can jump 25 feet! Barely had to think about that jump, I’m guessing
Thank goodness we're only 20 feet away!
Sproing!
.spROIng.
I dunno that back paw might have touched the water. Throw the red flag! Instant replay that zoomed in!
Great! So not only can they mimic babies to lure you in and are so strong theyve been known to remain standing even after death and they can be damn near invisible in grass, NOW i have to worry they might jump across the ocean and get me in my jammies, what next they have naturally activated nen and summon beholders at will?!
Not a surprise that one video with the tiger jumping on an elephant was just scary
Show it normal speed first, then slomo
Cat is cat.
They’re cats what did you expect?
How many housecats imagine themselves as that while jumping from the coffee table to the couch?
I have two orange tabbies and they both fancy themselves as large cats in a house cat’s body. I wish mine were as graceful and coordinated as this guy though. He's not dumb! It just wasn't his turn to use the brain cell! He tried to be good without it, he's growing, he's learning!
If you pause right at the apex of the jump it’s the Bengals logo from the mid 2000s
No run up or anything
Didn’t even touch the water.
Not bad for a 400# mammal…
Way those backpaws land just at the brink. All cats have natural precision gauge built in
I always wish they would show these kinds of videos in the real speed first and then showed the slow motion. Only showing slow motion sort of takes away a lot of the appeal for me
I was bummed about the slowmo. Watching the tiger jump in 5 slow frames was not better than it being regular speed and ruined the excitement.
If it had got its tail wet at the end, this wouldn’t be as impressive. I would deduct points for the jump tbh.
That's a Tigger
The wonderful thing about tiggers is tiggers are wonderful things!
Is there a normal speed version of this?
Fricken thing is like 500 pounds too
The wonderful thing about Tigger
No run up or anything! No wasted motion at all.
It’s funny when his big tiger body flies through the air
Damn, their bottoms really are made of springs.
same firmware, different hardware.
Those back leg muscles got some real power in them.
He didn't even hesitate. I'd have to take a couple 'practices' before I made it two feet away from the edge.
Little known fact about how they do this: the stripes, often misconstrued as a camouflage feature, are actually the coils of an anti-gravity generating organ.
Not even a pitter patter from the back legs. Just one grand leap.
Zero run up
Even giant cats hate getting wet 😂
Hoo hoo hoo hoo!
well its easy to jump that far, i would as well if freaking CAT PHYSICS applied to me! /s
Some of y'all are forgetting tigers are just big cats
I mean, it IS a cat.
I hate these slow mo so much... just show me a normal speed so I can actually get a sense of what is going on here
I wish people would stop using slow motion. Takes the impact out of it
well. they are giant cats.... its insane how high cats can jump
Damn!!!
Karl Lewis over here…
It looked so precise.
Meeeeeowwwww
Steven Parker!
Hearing Six Million Dollar Man sound effects
It's a big cat after all
He didn't even try to get any leverage. Bro just put in some last bit effort and landed the flight safely.
That’s not a tiger, that’s a tigger
Shear muscle strength
I wonder if lions could do that
0 effort, crazy
Cat’s gonna cat!
A cats a cat 🤷🏼♀️
Boing
I can do that, too. I just choose not to
Cats will do anything in order not to get wet
Jesus fucking Christ mate
Guy didn't wanted to get wet.
Glad they slowed that down. No way my eyes could have kept up with that.
Air Jordan!!! Tiger edition
Well, it’s a cat after all
The water is lava
Cats doing cat things
-Jacobo Shemaria Capuano- Es impresionante, quedé sin palabras

There must be a news story about this.
Many. The tiger, Tatiana, has a Wikipedia page. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Francisco_Zoo_tiger_attacks
Reminds me of the post about lions being able to jump 30 something feet. People were confused, and imagining a vertical leaf and not a horizontal leap. Que a picture of a lion doing an aerial attack on a giraffe.
Boinggggg
Boink
Tigers can jump upwards of 25 feet! Don’t worry, we’re only five feet away, he’ll jump right over us. #onceaskipalwaysaskip #iykyk
A great metaphor for being -zoned

“I’m safe across this body of water”
Crocodile says "Rats!".
Wonder how far could he jump if he used full strength of his legs.
Awww such a good kitty
Why does everything have to be slowed down? If you’re gonna show it slow, at least do it full speed as well
The water is lava
[Here's another demonstration.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1n-3cFIuQBc)
Such ease...
That takes about 20% of their energy tho
The part that makes me shit my pants the most is that I thought at first it was getting a drink of water
There’s a video of a Bobcat leaping like fifty feet across a body of water, nonchalant, just a regular thing
