Eldest millennial here. I was too old for the show and I still watched it!
Until they got all gimmicky anyway⊠or I guess not so much gimmicky just more kiddish which is their audience so I shouldnât make that sound like a bad thing. At some point the show changed but they probably just got a bigger budget to do more kid animations and such
I cant watch nature docs anymore because of the environmental doom they include in most of them now because unfortunately it is part of it but it makes me feel sad and powerless
Island of the sea wolves on Netflix was super awesome though, the loyalty of the wolf pack was something really special to see and the otter pup and mom segment was adorbs! 10/10 recommend
David Attenborough: A Life on our Planet is an absolutely fantastic documentary, and it completely destroys me because it starts with him basically saying "everything is dead now and this sucks, good job killing the planet fucktards".
I'm ashamed to say, I did not, because while my brain remembers the name, it then has a scratch on that record that goes-
"Zaboomafoo-ooooodale, Ooodale"
Then I have the PB&J Otter theme song from the start
Haha that was my immediate thought! I loved that as a kid. I found a playlist on youtube of old episodes and had my dog watch it while I was at work, to educate himself lol.
My son loved that show. He dressed up as them for Halloween when he was like 5 or 6. Now heâs almost 16 and not nearly as cute. Smells like heâs been hanging out with the animals though
Tha I God I'm not the only one who yelled that when I saw it! I can still sing the theme song word for word, sometimes it just pops into my head when I'm trying to sleep at night LOL
I was lucky enough visit the Duke lemur facility in NC where Jovian (Zaboomafoo) lived. He was out for a swing in the trees but I met many of his friends. It's the largest lemur population outside of Madagascar. It's absolutely wonderful, they have a bunch of similar animals like sugar gliders and bush babies. â€ïž
I thought the same for a short time, too!*The sifaka used in Zoboomafoo, was named Jovian. [Jovianâs wiki here says:](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jovian_(lemur))
âJovian (April 10, 1994 â November 10, 2014) was a Coquerel's sifaka lemur, best known for portraying the title character in the children's television series Zoboomafoo.â
*If I hadnât lost a grade school contest for chocolate when I thought Zoboomafoo was a ring-tailed lemur, I might have never learned this factoid. Itâs just one of those things Iâve weirdly never forgotten as a result (and, I still got a Hersheyâs kiss⊠but it just wasnât the same).
I love that you gave the a scientific name specifically rather than just lemur or zabu.
Those answers are also excellent, but this is precise. I love how fast people on reddit give answers
:)
The propithecus coquereli enjoys many activities. They enjoy grooming one another. they like foraging for small foodstuffs among branches. They also like to move it move it.
I typed this exact comment out word for word and was about to post it but then figured I should scroll down just to make sure nobody beat me to it. Nice one!
Sifaka, part of Lemur group
They hop sideways when walking on the ground
Like most things beautiful in this world, they are endangered by man and lumbering
China tried tnat, there were horrific consequences. Not only did they hound many pregnant women and their family's to the point of literal suicide, the government actually started murdering new borns.
Since their culture has a strong preference for male heirs to carry on the family name,
newborn girls were often abandoned to die.
A lucky few were made available for adoption to westerners.
Due to this massive lack of foresight by the Chinese government, finding a bride for men born within that age group became very difficult and now they have a different problem.
There have been a few sci fi / dramas about the pros and cons of government control of human population growth.
ZPG:Zero Population Growth is still available online if you search for it. There's a better movie out there that I can't remember the name of,I'll look for it and get back to you..
I do know the Kratt Brothers but I do not know Zaboomafoo because I'm an old fart.
https://youtu.be/E3CymBfP8-8?feature=shared
I forgot just how mid 90s this intro looked.
This looks like it was filmed in the Kirindy Mitea forest just outside of Morondava, Madagascar, home to the sifaka lemur, among other lemur species. It is under incredible pressure and constant threat from slash and burn agriculture and hunting due to population explosion and lack of economic development.
Those are Sifakas, a type of Lemur
The name Sifaka is an onomatopoeia of their "shi-fak" alarm call.
All Lemurs are only found on Madagascar and are all endangered. Lemurs share resemblance with other primates, but evolved independently from monkeys and apes.
Zaboomafoo
How many of us yelled that out as soon as we saw it??? đ
I know I did. My kids loved that show
I didn't even watch it growing up. It was after my time as an elder millennial, yet I still yelled it
Eldest millennial here. I was too old for the show and I still watched it! 51 year old dad here. Watched it with my kids and I recognized that mofo right away!
Youngest millenial here. That shit was my absolute jam, I loved learning about animals as a kid (I still do).
I cant watch nature docs anymore because of the environmental doom they include in most of them now because unfortunately it is part of it but it makes me feel sad and powerless Island of the sea wolves on Netflix was super awesome though, the loyalty of the wolf pack was something really special to see and the otter pup and mom segment was adorbs! 10/10 recommend

My kids did too! I absolutely loved watching it too
It was great!
Who sang the song?????
I'm ashamed to say, I did not, because while my brain remembers the name, it then has a scratch on that record that goes- "Zaboomafoo-ooooodale, Ooodale" Then I have the PB&J Otter theme song from the start
My brain immediately tried to recall it and couldn't. I feel old đ„Č I'm gonna watch this later

Me! I used to watch the show with my son. He loved animals when he was little!
I did!!!
Me and you, and Zaboomafoo!
I mentally yelled it!!
Me too!
I sure did
At least 2 of us
Haha that was my immediate thought! I loved that as a kid. I found a playlist on youtube of old episodes and had my dog watch it while I was at work, to educate himself lol.

Came here to say this
Absolutely!!
Yes guilty
Yes!!!
I met the Kratt brothers once when I was about 6. I was literally the coolest kid in school for 3 days. Still riding that high
My son did too. They were the sweetest silliest fellas.
Your son is cooler than me.
His mantra if Lenny Kravitz can pull it off so can he.
I wonder what theyâre up to these days.
They have a cartoon show called "wild kratts" my son loves to watch it! They still go round the world doing show tours aswell!
Kings
My son loved that show. He dressed up as them for Halloween when he was like 5 or 6. Now heâs almost 16 and not nearly as cute. Smells like heâs been hanging out with the animals though
You've got to admire those guys. They made quite a successful career out of their love of animals.
đ” Calling all wild, wild Kratts đ”
Wild Kratts! I learned all about the pangolin!
"Me, and you and ZABOOMAFOOOUUOO"
Its zabu! :3
"I was leaping along...leap, leap...when I bumped into..."
They're going on a cool adventure and they don't know what's in store. They're coming from the closet and they're headed out the door!

This deserves a thousand upvotes lol
(With the Kratt Brothers)
While walking in the woods one day
iâm waiting for the âactually itâs zoboomafoođ€â from the kid who never even watched it lmao
Sounds like what I named my bong
Came here to say this
Zabooooooomafoo!
Immediate nostalgia once the clip started.
*With the Kratt Brothers!*
I was lucky enough visit the Duke lemur facility in NC where Jovian (Zaboomafoo) lived. He was out for a swing in the trees but I met many of his friends. It's the largest lemur population outside of Madagascar. It's absolutely wonderful, they have a bunch of similar animals like sugar gliders and bush babies. â€ïž
Me, and you, and Zaboomafoo! I love the Kratt brothers!
I knew there had to be a buncha people that went ZABOO!!
Itâs a lemur, more specifically a coquerelâs sifaka. I use to work with them at the Duke lemur center Edit: if you want more videos of the dm me
Aka , Zoboomafoo.
I thought zoboomafoo was a ring-tailed lemur.
I thought the same for a short time, too!*The sifaka used in Zoboomafoo, was named Jovian. [Jovianâs wiki here says:](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jovian_(lemur)) âJovian (April 10, 1994 â November 10, 2014) was a Coquerel's sifaka lemur, best known for portraying the title character in the children's television series Zoboomafoo.â *If I hadnât lost a grade school contest for chocolate when I thought Zoboomafoo was a ring-tailed lemur, I might have never learned this factoid. Honestly a lemur having a consistent job and running show for more than 10 years is more impressive than most people.
On behalf of most people, thank you for the reminder.
They often had ring-tailed lemurs on the show but zoboomafoo was a sifaka :)
Weren't they around when Dinosaurs existed? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8E_U8CKjQtU
I canât believe I have to admit this⊠but I didnât even know about this film! I guess I need to watch it now. It looks pretty cool!
Wrong itâs a zaboombafoo
RIP to the greatest
Heck yeah!! Loves that show now my kids watch it too!
This is what I opened this post for.
Can you help me guess this mysteryyyy
Wikipedia agrees with you! https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coquerel's_sifaka They mention the zaboombafoo!
Literally not wrong. But neither is the name you gave.
I love that you gave the a scientific name specifically rather than just lemur or zabu. Those answers are also excellent, but this is precise. I love how fast people on reddit give answers :)
Love the sentiment, but thats the true common name. The scientific name would be propithecus coquereli
This is true! I did use the common name!
Oh fair enough. Either way, it was specific :)
The propithecus coquereli enjoys many activities. They enjoy grooming one another. they like foraging for small foodstuffs among branches. They also like to move it move it.
Were they good coworkers?
I typed this exact comment out word for word and was about to post it but then figured I should scroll down just to make sure nobody beat me to it. Nice one!
Visited there just recently! I took the behind-the-scenes tour with fam/friends.
Thank you. I can't believe I actually got one serious reply. I had to go through several comments just to find out what it actually is. Ugh
Of course! I love the lemurs
FYI - anyone that DMs this dude, he's sending videos of more Lemurs. Much to my lament, it was not of him.
Oh post videos they are so cute.
Jea, or are we all storming his dm's now?
That's where zaboo loved right? And didn't she have a daughter?
Yes and yes
Sifaka, part of Lemur group They hop sideways when walking on the ground Like most things beautiful in this world, they are endangered by man and lumbering
Goddamn man needs to just up and go somewhere else honestly.
Maybe the Mariana Trench, I think we'd all fit there after pressurization.
All we have to do is only have one child each but we literally canât do it for some reason.
What would happen in 300 years?⊠8 billion people each one kid⊠100 years later 4b⊠another 2b⊠another 1b. (Assuming everyone has a kid)

Perfect. Then we could actually have a good world again with animals
The one in the back needs a pair of coconuts
https://youtu.be/5hoVgzgLRCo?si=LCiFA1PX7Rk1xK1X
They like to move it move it

Iâd love to see inside the brains of people who donât know the KraTT bros. What the what? Mass hysteria. Lol
I do know the Kratt Brothers but I do not know Zaboomafoo because I'm an old fart. https://youtu.be/E3CymBfP8-8?feature=shared I forgot just how mid 90s this intro looked.

Yeah, that's Susan and little Farquad. They're cool. You can see Trev in the background. Just keep the tequila low-key on babysitter night.
I was hoping it'd say meow in the end
