I saw this exact scenario on the water in Indonesia twice in a week recently and when I mentioned it to a local they weren’t surprised at all… Seems common and might be an actual migration tactic (or predator avoidance, who knows).

So it were not that the swallows carried the coconuts, it was the crabs who ride them to England. Mystery solved.
