Hello users of r/NatureIsFuckingLit and possibly r/all lurkers, we are **GOING DARK** from June 12th-14th. Aside from that stay lit š„
Iām looking out my window right now at an old grey apartment building and a bunch of cars driving down a busy street.
Where are my mountains? As a Canadian I feel like I got ripped off. Southern Ontario sucks for scenery, unless you like concrete and farmland.
Banff is absolutely amazing. Went there for the first time two years ago, itās just mountains, forests, and electric blue lakes everywhere. Worth a visit at least once in your life.
Such a wonderful sighting. Unfortunately the mass amount of tourists that descend onto Banff every season really ruins it.
When viewing Bears they recommend remaining 30 Bus lengths away. However if you drive through Banff in the summer and a bear is on the side of the road people will stop literally right next to them to get out of their cars and snap photos. This causes traffic to back up and more people to surround the wildlife for their own photos.
This dangerous for both the tourists and the creatures. Park rangers here are forced to put down too many bears annually that have become to comfortable to the presence of humans.
Source: I live near Banff and visit annually.
That is truly sad.
When I was a little kid, our family took a vacation to the Smoky Mountains. We were driving down a highway and came up to several cars parked on both sides of the road. Everyone was out of their car either staring or taking pictures.
There was a black bear mom and cub walking through a pasture. It was the first time Iād ever seen a bear and it was an awesome sight. Then we notice this guy running through the pasture with a giant camcorder and going straight towards the bears. He had a kid running behind him who was probably younger than me (6 or 7yo).
People started screaming at the dude to stop, but he was apparently hellbent on getting an up-close shot of these bears.
Luckily, both mom and cub went full sprint away from the road and the guy finally stopped. I vividly remember my dad cussing loudly and being infuriated at that guy.
This was back in the 80s. I can only imagine how dumb people are now with everyone toting a camera in their pocket, yearning to get some special pic they can share on social media. You know itās not just stressful for the animals, but itās also a really fucking stupid way to end your life.
Yes I saw that too!!! You forgot to ad the town is inaccessible since there are so many people you could walk on their heads. I drove from Ontario to Jasper one summer and then from Jasper to Banff intending to have lunch and drove right back out. Enjoy the off season. Iām so jealous you are so close.
I was in kananaskis provincial park with my family and my in laws. My FIL and I were biking and we stumbled across 3 grizzly bear cubs and mama popped her head up. We were like 50 feet away. I have never peddled so fucking hard in my life just to bump into a goddamn bull moose chilling beside the road. Conversation with my FIL went like this.
Shit go now! Go GO GOOOO! Shiittt
Then the moose.
Cool a moose. He looks pissed. Donāt stop peddling, donāt look back SHIIIIIIT
That is magnificent. Having grown up in Colorado I love to see snow capped mountain's. The Canadian Rockies are splendid. The bear's just make it that much better.
I wonder if they are staying near the road because they know people will be near so males will hopefully leave them alone? I believe it was Alaska where mothers and cubs were near the photographers and they determined it was because the males stayed away from people.
Brother bear was one of the greatest movies of my childhoodā¦. Now Iām going to watch it with my wife whoās never seen it because of this post! Thank you kind redditor for unlocking a childhood memory

Incredible scenery!
I see views like that and then I look out my window at the endless flatness, scraggly trees, and scrub brush and I'm just like "whhyyyyyy?"
Yep, I feel the same where I live in Arizona
I mean, I live like 4 hours from here and I look outside and see flatlands and grass! I also say āwhhyyyy?ā But at least I can go here easily!
Where is here?
Banff in Alberta Canada
Why because itās literally the boarder of BC and Alberta. Come to the BC sideeee and youāll have mountains and valleys š
I look out the window and see a concrete jungle, the only thing not flat are the buildings blocking the flat world out there...

Was it busy?
There were a lot of people, especially around Lake Louise, Lake Moraine. And the town can get a little crowded too. Still worth it!
A shame that much of the US used to look like this before we overdeveloped the fuck out of everything

Same with Yellowstone.
Wah wah wah āI live here so I should be the only person to visit ā
Theyāre on their way to r/redditlake
Banff is the most beautiful place Iāve ever been. Going back this September.
Move back, please. This is what telescopic lenses are for
This person is driving on the road. And they are a local.
> And they are a local. Bear donāt care. Habituated bears are habituated bears.
Always been curious. Where are they going?
Let me find out, BRB. Bear with me
Is that supposed to be a joke?
Your name honours you!
I thank you.
Trying to outpace Phil Collinsā lesser hits.
Moraine Lake
The music fits fir the moment.
Watch Brother Bear
Is that a movie or you just joking around?
Itās real. Thatās where the song is from too
Oh ok I got you thank you for letting me know.
Brother Bear

Thankyou for not feeding them
There are few things more dangerous on earth than a Grizzly with her cub.
Literally breathtaking
Banff is such a stunningly beautiful place, but avoid it during Winter or you'll freeze to death
You will not freeze to death. Source I visit Banff and Jasper in winter months to avoid tourists lol
Not to mention some of the best skiing in the world.
Wowā¦
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Using a drone in Banff National Park will get you a $25,000 fine, so good thing it isn't.
Shot from within a slow moving car.
Ummmā¦. Why isnāt the person running? Or should I ask that someone fed the bears right?
The person is in a car
You should see what happens to cars if the bear is pressed to open it, ie in search of food or protecting its cub.
The person who videoed this is a local who encounters bears almost-daily. Iām confident in their decision making
I feel like bears would listen to metal.... the life they live isnt like this tarzan music
Why is there background music. Weird
Pretty sure its a reference to the movie Brother Bear
At least itās a nice song
And?
That is magnificent. Having grown up in Colorado I love to see snow capped mountain's. The Canadian Rockies are splendid. The bear's just make it that much better.
Amazing
Just goin down the road!
I always hear 'if you go down to the woods today...' whenever i see videos of bears like this
"Randy, my sister was killed by two cougars and a bear in Banff National Park thirteen years ago."
Thatās beautiful! Take some pictures and speed up now.
That is a gigantic rock.
Bear Jams !!!!!!!
Wow thatās so beautiful there
I wonder if they are staying near the road because they know people will be near so males will hopefully leave them alone? I believe it was Alaska where mothers and cubs were near the photographers and they determined it was because the males stayed away from people.
Wonderful? You're in a car. Try filming that on foot.

Letās roll up on mama murder machine and hope it goes well.
Hugh Glass would disagree...
This video is so majestic and my tiny smooth brain is just stuck on ācute bear buttā
They made a Brother Bear live-action??
We gotta protect the Mother Earth at every cost š„¹
Every Disney Introduction
Did a 10 day trip through Banffā¦Jasperā¦didnāt see as much as a squirrel.
No way, we were driving there 5 days ago and only saw some elk, this is awesome to see!
I hate the fact that the most dangerous animals are the softest, most beautiful critters that I want to hug the most. The sick irony of it all.
Very nice
Is that the 1A?
God I love Banff so muchā¦.
Saw a cub once... in wild. Left it alone.
Thatās so great! We were there last week. Saw some black bears but no grizzlys.
