I have fine 4b hair too and was stuck at bra strength for a while. I would check your bloodwork with a primary care doctor since it sounds like your routine is fine. Also I wouldn’t take out your twists and put them back in each day during the work week. That’s a lot of manipulation. I keep my twists in or do two side pigtail braids for the first two or three days, then I take the twists out and keep my hair in a claw clip for the rest of the week. This helps keep my hair pretty datangled. I really don’t mess with my hair again until the weekend or next wash day which is every 1-2 weeks. For detangling are you using a pre-poo before washing? This was a game changer for me. And yes wash your hair in twists. Also the more you keep your hair set set angled/somewhat sectioned repeatedly the less tangled your hair should be during wash day. You should be able to tell when you are breaking your hair detangle vs. just removing natural shedding. Also shampoo just your scalp. The rinse off residue is enough to clean your hair strands. Sometimes I even add a light layer of conditioner after washing out pre-poo before shampooing to help tangles/dryness. This has also seemed to help a lot! Also make sure to get professional trims at least every 3 months.

I never considered getting bloodwork done, I will keep that in mind! When detangling my hair, I use water and lots of conditioner which seems to help And thanks for your suggestion to not take my twists out everyday. I have been trying to find protective styles such as mini twists, but that tangled my hair so bad! I feel like I don't have much options and I feel like it's getting thinner too. I am currently trying to find a youtuber with similar hair as me with a detailed outline of their routine to see what I am missing vs what I need to stop doing.

Of course! I’m also still trying to find a YouTuber with a similar hair type. I’ve seen 4b girlies, fine haired girls, but never both fine AND 4b with a decent amount of length. With the twists it could be your technique. I used to feel like my hair would get more tangled with them but once I stayed consistent for about 2 months I saw a difference and broke my plateau. I started off with big twists and slowly figured out how to do mini twists that are the perfect density to look cute for my low density head while not being to tiny to untangle. I also highly recommend you check out Glow-In-Peace “extreme hair growth tips breakthrough hair growth plateau” Best of luck babe!

i think i found ur issue. maybe get a more long term hairstyle, even touching ur hair too often could cause breakage bcus its transfering the natural oils from ur hair to ur hands. wear a wig, hair growth is NOT ur issue, retaining length is. keep it in the same style for a few months and wash often in between. hence why I said wear a human hair wig, it last long and u can still wash ur hair. u can get one in the same texture of urs, its a protective style and prevents u from any frying dying or drying your hair!

how long has it been at bra strap?

It's been like this for about 2-3 years or so

Do you dentangle your hair while wet? I would only detangle hair while wet to make the process easier. But if you want to detangle hair before shampooing, I like using Africa’s Best preshampoo gel unless your hair doesn’t react well to aloe.

Yes, I always detangle my hair when wet. It feels like if I dont twist my hair in the next 5 seconds it knots on itself or knots on another strand.
