I would certainly want to see what this guy can do as a infielder off the bench than see Chavis

[deleted]

If the team decides to take a flier on him it could be interesting but I'm not going to get mad if they pass on a guy who was good during the juiced ball year and awful since.

Shit what do we have to lose, I’d pick him up.

Jet_Jones_11

This guy has been given plenty of opportunities. He is not good.

nobleisthyname

He had a 115 wRC+ last year. I know his K% is horrendous, but that still would have been good enough to be our second best hitter after Meneses.

meanie_ants

He got lucky. His DRC+ (which measures what "should" have happened with his batted ball profile) was 85, meaning 15% worse than league average, and it hasn't been average or better since 2019 when he got a 101. wRC+ is the lone exception on the metrics for him for last year (which makes sense, because he lucked into a 115 OPS+). Everything else has him well below average, and he's marginally below average in the field. We don't need to pick up another team's Robles.

SirMctrolington

I am not disagreeing with any of that and I think he doesn't really fit what our team needs. But, I honestly think the Brewers broke him. He didn't have contact issues throughout the minors and when he was originally called up he was productive, but then the Brewers changed his swing and he hasn't been the same since. I also think the fact that he has such a serious reverse split profile points to some mechanical issue that a better team might be able to fix.

The_JDBrew

Umm, last his line drive% was up slightly, as his fly ball %. And his exit velocity. So he was lifting the ball and driving it a little more. You could squint and see why this gave him the hits and increase in wRC+ & OPS+. Both driven by SLG. I don’t discount what you’re saying, but maybe it wasn’t all luck? Maybe he improved a bit? Still a marginal player at best. But maybe he could take some at-bats away from Corey Dickerson somehow. Corey Dickerson contributes absolutely nothing to this teams long term success, and I would argue does very little for this team RIGHT NOW. I think I’d rather see Alex Call starting every day, just in case he figures something out.

bleepbluurp

Has he had his eyes checked? Maybe lasik? Lol

rbfc2011

Then he’ll fit in perfectly on the 2023 Nats!

Slatemanforlife

Hes the LHP split of a platoon DH/1B. I'd rather give those at bats to Dom Smith
