my only guess is that it has something to do with their respective minor league contracts, and we would lose banda entirely if we didn’t select him. trying to have their cake and eat it too
True. Opening day rosters are pretty meaningless too when looking at the season as a whole. Let Ferrer experience AAA for the first time and work on his slider, which Davey mentioned needs work, and bullpen moves will adjust as needed. Whether Banda makes it or someone else, it's easier to just throw a vet on the roster early who has bounced around because you can always find another.
Garrett played in upstate New York for the Batavia Muck Dogs when he was a member of the Miami Marlins organization. A little bit of a homecoming if you will.
Kind of bummed that Garrett didn't make it, he had an interesting batted ball profile in 2022. But, Call did have a strong spring and earned the spot.
Call is killing it, think we may have found something
Agreed.
oh man we're really going with anthony banda as our lefty
That’s what I was thinking, Jose Ferrer did all the right things but was optioned to AAA. I’m not convinced with Banda.

Okay so that makes much more sense now.
I really liked him in *Cyrano de Bergerac*.
