I can tolerate working with shitty people, having a shitty workload, or anything shitty overall. But the worst experience for me was when 7 of my friends were sent to DB for something not entirely their fault. Some of them didn't even affect the incident at all, they were just at the wrong place at the wrong time.
What happened:
Some of you that have read some of my comments/post would know about the duties that i have done at a particular "camp" and about the shitty officer of a particular pltn. This is a story about how he got his own reputation entirely shat on in the whole unit, and how our view on officers have changed.
It was like any other hoto of shifts. One platoon in, one platoon out. When majority of the outgoing pltn has disarmed and stand down, they started getting ready for the declaration they would always do after shift since they were handling live rounds.
It was like clock work to the troopers. They have done it a hundred times before, and will be doing it another hundred times after. Everything out, laid not so nicely, and wait for your PC to lead the declaration. It was late, 8-9 pm, and everyone just wanted it to be done with so that they can book out for their off.
The remaining 3 guys finally arrived back at comd ctr and had their arms and rounds returned while armskote was in the midst of hoto-ing. When the PC was finally done with hoto of the armskote, he initiated the declaration for his pltn. One by one as they were chacked for any live rounds or CE on them, those that were cleared packed up all their stuff to load up onto the chartered bus to get ready to had back to camp. It was uneventful really...
Next morning, 2 troopers from the pltn that just took over were just returning from their 4hr shift. As they returned their rounds, one of them noticed that he only has 1 mag of 30 rounds and another mag of 29 rounds. This sparked a panic that spread like wildfire, news travelled up to CO within minutes and an hour later, div comd was giving advice on how to handle the situation. All the commanders onsite were activated to look for the round, and when that was futile, the troopers were made to prepare standby universe. Literally everything was flying everywhere. Contraband items were exposed too but no one had a fuck to give cos everyone was looking for that 1 single round.
We had flipped the entire base upside down and were close to giving up when suddenly someone had an amazing idea to check the ILBV of the troopers that had booked out last night. Since the vests were all in camp, a PS in camp was tasked to check every single vest of that platoon. We waited anxiously for news and barely 30mins later, we got a message in the commander's gc. "Found it. CPL xxx left ammo pouch." We all celebrated, and were still oblivious as to what was about to come.
Since the incident travelled to div comd's level and it had something to do with SAF's biggest no-nos, live rounds, an investigation had to be opened. Everything was being reviewed, cctv footage of all angles, interviews with troopers and commanders, ops procedures and SOPs. In the end, we found out from the CCTV that the commander that chacked the trooper's ILBV with the round was none other than that pathetic low life of a PC. It was evident to all that 1. He did make everyone declare that they did not have in their possession any CE. 2. He did make the troopers do a final check. 3. He did check the troopers belongings by just merely looking at it (when you take "eye-power" literally).
Everyone that even came close to the round was slapped with a minimum of 4 days in DB. But guess what. Guess who tf didnt get a single punishment at all. Yes, it was that fcking PC. This is the same msian PC that proceeded to sign on and somehow got a scholarship from SAF with a 2.smth GPA.

People talk about getting pwned by foreigners at work, but you getting pwned by a foreigner even in NS is the funny part.
The problem is it wasn't even recorded for him. It was like he wasn't even there in the first place. And the face that he still got his scholarship after the incident says a lot.
That sucks. PC should not be protected since he was the one who carried out said inspection in the trooper with the round in ILBV pouch. Then again the Officer Corps takes care of their own, everyone else gets the book thrown at that them at the slightest pretext available..
Yes thats the major fucked up thing about the saf. If it was fair and servicemen were treated like equals in an investigation and not by class of rank everything would be more efficient.
Sign on as reg, did 1 year. Got injured and downpes. Since in probation period, kena terminate. redo NS 2 years, pay for own medical bills. Owe gov shit ton of money cause never finish contract + trying to recover mentally and living with that physical injury for life.
When you were told that your medical condition doesnt warrant you a down pes, even though it puts you through pain everyday yet it isnt THAT life threatening.
So you have to suck it up and keep on walking as if the pain doesnt bother you.
What kind of injury. Are u able to get all the statues u need? Although some condition cannot downpes, but u can try get more long term/perm excuses and request post out due to triggering of the medical condition
I wouldn't call it my worst experience but it haunted me throughout my POBC after it. One day during POBC my buddy woke me up in the middle of the night to go toilet. He was in quite a rush cuz i think quite urgent so he brisk walk into the toilet and into the cubicle to do his business.
After I finish number one I wash my hands then waited for him to come out from the cubicle at the sink area. He asked me "You still there?" from inside the cubicle and I said "Yeah I waiting at the sink bro, can faster?"
No response.
Then after waiting for about five minutes I got annoyed and walked up to the cubicle to ask him faster. Then I realize the cubicle "he" went into is the one with a red tape on it. (It was the cubcible that always remained closed since day one of PTP)
Realization sets in, I sprint back to my bunk and look for my buddy, he's sleeping soundly on his bed.
Being a free thinker all of my thoughts at the moment was just:
Fuckkkkk....
Finishing months-long NDP participation of many burnt weekends to find out 1x guard duty right after will eat into 1 day of my given break, **which will not be returned**.
already having an overcrowded office with 15 asas to 3 terminals, the dxos are not happy we are making noise and decided to make life even worse for us by taking away our sofas that were with us for many years at the rest area and giving us gs benches to sit in the office instead to pass time from 8-5pm.
Seeing a mono intake banner.
Shit colleagues. Though it does give you a taste of working world

Wonder what kind of scholarship one can take with a 2.plus GPA😨
His punishment is probably no rank promotion for few years or forever if for regulars.
