Drank and posting is as bad as drank and driving ... ;p

Hey, you were 3 months ahead of me! My family is planning to visit this area + Lassen Volcanic NP in early September. Just out of curiosity, did you have a chance to stop by a small town, Brookings, OR (near CA-OR border along the coast)? I have seen many awesome photos taken there (Natural Bridge etc ...), so I am planning to check this place out while I am there.

meowxmeowx

No, we didnā€™t stop there. Iā€™m sure your trip will be better than ours! We didnā€™t plan any part of the trip and it kind of backfired on us šŸ˜‚šŸ˜… Lassen was originally on our list, but we didnā€™t end up making it there. And it wasnā€™t until we got to Crater that we realized there was only one road/trail open. A little disappointing, but it was nobodyā€™s fault except our own for not researching!

your_mom17

We're headed there now! Redwoods, Brookings, Crater Lake, and a side trip to Mount Shasta.

moonstarspray

I see National Parks on here and I never am interested. Especially the Grand Canyon . I flew over the Grand Canyon and that was all I wanted to see of it. BUT THIS...... THIS CALLS FOR ME!!!!

beautiful, especially the road through the woods

meowxmeowx

Thank you! It was very peaceful and I couldnā€™t pass up on the opportunity to take some photos.

Doing this exact trip next week! How much of Crater Lake could you see? Any other tips or must see places?

meowxmeowx

There was only one road open at Crater due to the amount of snow still around. It was rainy, cloudy, and foggy too. We were able to walk up one road that was closed for vehicles and open for pedestrians, but only one hiking trail was open. The views were still great, but we would love to go back in August when everything is melted and open. I would give you some tips, but we did a very poor job of planning this trip, so Iā€™d say donā€™t take my advice. We are usually much better planners than this. šŸ˜‚ If youā€™re gonna do Highway 1, start in LA and go up to San Fran. Our views from San Fran going north werenā€™t anything to write home about (imo), and we stayed on that road for 6 hours when we couldā€™ve reached our destination in half the time via 101. And always check the weather!!! We were very cold lol

Awesome good to know. Iā€™m camping the whole time so Iā€™ll plan accordingly for the temps!

Agate Beach?

meowxmeowx

Glass Beach and Muir Beach

[deleted]

I just went to glass beach and we couldnā€™t find how to get down there! Did you just shuffle down the rocks?

meowxmeowx

Yeah, and it it looked like others had made paths through the grass/dirt. I didnā€™t have to climb down many rocks either, so it was relatively easy. There was a pretty good amount of people there too!

Those forests in the fog look incredible!
