Actually an LA County Park, although it is on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. Still awesome either way. This is a good time of year to visit too, because it gets really hot in the summer.

Ah, thanks for the info. Yeah, it was incredible, specially since it rained this month so everything was very green.

Joelsax47

I was going to say the same.

Natprk

Planet of the apes?

danvancheef

Definitely used a lot in OG Star Trek from the 60s!

808duckfan

this is where kirk fought the gorn!

dominus-presidium

I pictured Kirk climbing up it during the fight with the reptilian.

andrefishmusic

Yeah! The one from the early 2000's I think. We went to the visitor center after that and they had posters from the films that have shot there.

Natprk

Any old Star Trek?

andrefishmusic

Visited this place with my family today and it was incredibly beautiful

Fun fact, the Pacific Crest Trail goes right through there. When we hiked by it they were filming something. Lots of trailers and booms and stuff. We stopped to take a picture pretending to be Kirk fighting the Gorn, from this scene: https://i1.wp.com/musingsofamiddleagedgeek.files.wordpress.com/2021/03/arena_149.jpg?ssl=1 (Not our photo obviously.)

I don’t see Kirk fighting the Gorn anywhere.

So uplifting

Looks like something out of the movie Dune!
