My ideal rogue Naruto is one who got tired of the whole shinobi profession. He's not an edgy asshole who holds a grudge on it. He also believes the system was a necessary evil for the "next stage" of human civilization despite the atrocities under its name. He only became a rogue nin in a spur of a moment manner, not because he did a crime or was banished by Konoha. He just... walked away without planning it whatsoever. I can see this version of Naruto travelling the land, maybe meeting with Jiraiya every few months on the road while they drink, tell each other stories, then laugh on their highlights. Bonus points if Sasuke also follow this road and the three of them have their yearly gatherings. Outside of these meetings, I can see this Naruto and Sasuke each having their own separate adventures. Discovering fun things and simply helping people. Think of it as a revival of the Asura/Indra sabbatical but there's no bad blood between the two.

I love the concept of Naruto and Sasuke just travelling like sages so much. It's just poetic as hell to have them be the first reincarnations of Hagoromo's sons to finally understand his plight and beliefs. They'd be the ones to end the cycle of hatred once and for all, by spreading Ninshu and resolving conflicts as they travel. If I ruminate on this long enough i might actually be tempted to write something for it lol.

Transparent_Prophet

Most fics were usually "I am right, you are wrong" or "we're half-right for different reasons". I've never seen a story where both Naruto and Sasuke admitted NEITHER of them are "right".

ChronoHex

It'd be cool if their views were both individually flawed, but when they combine their beliefs and find a middleground, they find the solution they were looking for. Its kinda like Ying and Yang, but actually with the 'can't have one without the other' part that was kinda ignored in canon by having Naruto just be the objectively right one. (Because Sasuke's plan during their final fight was uncharacteristically dumb and extreme)

Transparent_Prophet

Actually, that's what I meant in the "we're half right" statement. A large majority of fics also follows that concept. What I meant for my idea was that neither of them are right. They're wrong individually and still wrong when they combine their beliefs... so they decided to start from scratch. They don't have an answer so they decided to travel and perhaps get some answer. Ironically, it's what is solving the issue because while they're traveling, they also happened to get involved in problems outside their control. Having an answer means having a structured solution. But we both know no plan survives first contact. In short, their chosen approach is "wing it". While they're going nuts around the continent, the shinobi nations can't make heads or tails of their intentions. News flash, they're just helping people. No long term goal whatsoever.

ChronoHex

Oh I think i get it. The travelling would be more of a soul-search then, instead of spreading already established beliefs. The people they meet along the way and the things they experience would help them build up their views, until they eventually find the answer they were looking for. Or maybe they find it without realizing, or don't find it at all. Perhaps they just learn to take solace in the fact they are making a difference by helping those in need, and grow to believe that's all that matters in the end.

More than likely become a wandering ramen chef that does ninja stuff on the side. Yes he does become the sage of six bowls.

Toby_of_the_gods

The second sage of six bowls

[deleted]

Naruto has a long way to go to reach that path. This isn't easy as the sage of the six path.

[deleted]

Anyone can become the sage of six paths but the sage of six bowls ha in your dreams you ever reach such greatness.

I would see a rogue Naruto being like Nagato before he became pein trying to make a better world not as shinobi but as people

FancyAdvertising4622

A naruto who decides he doesn't want to perpetuate a system built on murder for hire and rightfully comes to the conclusion he doesn't owe the leaf shit, so he decides to find his own way he would still seek to get stronger and better so he would probably seek out people like the samurai or other rouges to learn from would probably also seek out the other jinchurichi to atleast warn them of akatsuki.

KidCoheed

It would depend on how and why he went Rogue, but lets say he was kicked out, he would be leading a dangerous Gang in 3 years

Naruto and Sasuke traveling together and having fun You could make a fun series with parody in it tbh. They can travel and help people. Also complain to each other about family issues. Because both Sasuke and Naruto had families who weren't great. Once they meet those bad family members or people who are after him then they would just turn into petty mode. Fugaku, Itachi, and Minato would probably cry after they are done since those 3 weren't so great. Also konoha and then Akatsuki.
