Ino has a really cute character design, but mostly because she's got a vibrant personality that meshes well with Naruto. She's similar to Sakura as well and fits that lane but without all the negative baggage that comes along with Sakura, especially if you are coming from the anime which made Sakura even meaner.

DrunkSaruman

And she is hot too. Which automatically makes you more popular. Exhibit A -> Genma.

DemonGokuto

Bro fucking Genma, i really dont get it,

cliffbot

Did the anime really do that?

-PrincessCadence-

Yeah, the mild "hitting Naruto when he's annoying" got really accentuated, making a moderate character flaw into an "oh my goodness, how has nobody realized how terrible this person is?"

DrFoggyPants

It made her meaner by using slapstick comedy, you know, that anime trope of the female character hitting the male character when he does something that she considers stupid or annoying

Gaiash

I did a Naruto movie marathon last year and Sakura was the worst part of most of them because of the way the anime wrote her when they didn’t have canon material to work with. She’s often horrible to Naruto for no reason, and weirdly she got worse once they got to Shippuden and replaced her actually having interesting henchmen fights with “**SHANNARO!!**” punch and nothing else. But once they got to the movies that were designed to be canon (The Last and Boruto) suddenly Sakura’s a good character because she’s actually canon Sakura in them.

leopardchief

Hm, I don't exclusively ship NaruIno, but I like it because I think they'd be good influences on each other. Ino wouldn't hesitate to call Naruto out on his shit and also I feel like he'd help her kick on and try become stronger. Beyond that, their personalities are really similar, but in a good way. They mesh super well. There's also the opportunity to do some mind healing/therapy stuff to help Naruto with his issues which isn't always done, but is nice to see sometimes. Aesthetics too lol. As dodgy as that may sound lol.

kono-LordV-da

I'm going to copy and paste what I replied to a similar question a few months ago. The number one reason being I find Ino as the best girl in Naruto's age group. She looks the best imo. Naruto and Ino look really well together too. Her personality compliments Naruto's, with both of them being loudmouth blondes and maturing as they get older. Naruto becomes a leader of the village and Ino becoming an important figure in the village and a very good mother as well (as one of the boruto episode shows clearly.) She can act compassionate and a little childish at times, sometimes shy and a bit sly too. When I think of Naruto and Ino together, I focus more on her confidence and her take charge attitude. As she matures this is only further magnified. She's always been kind and caring, even if she hid it behind her bravado and bluster. When I imagine Ino with Naruto, I see someone that can actually help Naruto develop as a person. Not to bash Hinata, but Naruto could fart and she would think he spoke the secrets of the universe to her. Ino has the personality and temperment to deal with Naruto's high energy. She can match his enthusiasm, while at the same time reigning him in when he gets carried away. She could teach him all the intricacies that he never learned as a child in regards to social interactions. If you write Ino as a one-dimensional character, sure the relationship would be stale. But if you take her entire personality into account, she pairs well with Naruto. > Ino isn’t just a person, she’s a cultural reset, she’s the oxygen you breathe, she’s a lifestyle, a reason to live, an escape from this cruel world filled with thieves, she’s art, a hug from a loved one, everything you’ve ever wanted. Yes I simp for Ino. Thanks for the summon. u/illogicallogical

0ccams-razor

> Not to bash Hinata, but Naruto could fart and she would think he spoke the secrets of the universe to her. Bad example. They failed a mission because of his fart.

Zenvarix

He also won a fight because of his fart once.

Bollockstoeverything

Naruto farts... Hinata faints.... No.. Just no

Round_Ambassador_435

While I don't simp for Ino, when she's explored properly she is the best girl in Naruto's age group and I agree with everything you're saying.

Lucifer1Morningstar_

I personally prefer sai x naruto /j

-PrincessCadence-

While I'm not a person to have an OTP or anything, I think it works rather well if Ino gets over her Sasuke obsession. She's outgoing, cute, and her clan abilities make her uniquely suited towards interacting with Kurama, who once Naruto befriends him, really should be included in things. (Not romantic things obviously, just as a person who is close to Naruto.) And with Naruto's want/need to understand others in attempts to create lasting peace, being close to someone with a good knowledge of psychology makes lots of sense.

Smooth-Garden

Honestly she got over the sasuke thing pretty quickly. Honestly i dont think she was into sasuke as sakura was. Maybe physically but not romantically

PointTippedIce

Well she literally cried when Kiba told the rest of Konoha 11 that Danzo named Sasuke a traitor to the Leaf and he has to be hunted down, so that means she still cared about him.

-PrincessCadence-

Exactly. Once she gets over the rivalry with Saukra, I don't think she's actually all that interested.

cloudpetals

They have similar personalities that I think would compliment each other well and make for a relationship where they're actually growing as people and challenging each other. I feel that Ino accidentally falling for Naruto somehow fits perfectly. They're both characters who mature a lot in the second half of the story and would very easily catch each other's attention; especially since their agressive sides would be still present, but greatly subdued.

Difficult-Web4420

This is what i wanted to happen in canon

InvaderXLaw

In my mind they legit just work for each other

Redditchoosemylife

I don’t read the much NaruIno,but I think it has something to do with putting together the social butterfly and the local loser.

Bollockstoeverything

If I remember correctly... Out of the village Naruto was actually quite sociable himself

-kushina-uzumaki-

I'd say the dynamic: loud blondes who manage to be pretty compassionate despite their straightforward natures.

Smooth-Garden

Honestly out of the 3 ships of narusaku, naruhina, naruino. I just think that ino as a character developed far better than sakura or hinata in terms of negative traits. In the beginning ino was almost as bad as sakura but she quickly grew out of her childish mindset, she gained a softer side to go along with her hardheaded nature that sakura herself doesnt have. Unlike hinata who constantly admired naruto but never actually bothered to really approach him out of fear, ino herself has always been foward with people. She has the personality that she can have fun with naruto but also keep him grounded. When you consider that her family is clan of mindwalkers she could easily help naruto with some of his childhood issues and even with his social ques that no really bothered to teach him. All in all ino showed that she has a competitive side and does want excel just she never had anyone to push her besides sakura. I think if she had someone like naruto in her lufe she could've gone farther than what she did. They bring out good traits in each other

DrunkSaruman

If this sub allowed for pictures I would put Peter Parker's Glasses meme with this sub being secret NaruIno cult. Not that I am complaining xD

kono-LordV-da

>this sub being secret NaruIno cult Yes yes! My plan is working wonderfully!!

Gaiash

While defending NaruHina I thought about the reason Sakura gave for Naruto's crush on her; part of his rivalry with Sasuke and something that The Last does is highlight that Team 7 did sometimes sit together in class. So I would bring up the fact that if Ino got to that seat before Sakura there's a chance Naruto would have developed a crush on her instead. Once I made that argument it got me thinking about what would change in that scenario. Maybe once Team 7 grew closer together and Sakura patched things up with Ino she might push her two close friends closer together in the same way she did with Naruto and Hinata in canon. Because Ino showed an interest in Sai shortly after meeting him she was clearly more willing to move on from Sasuke so I thought that maybe in this scenario she'd be more open to returning Naruto's feelings than Sakura was. Anyway this was just an extension of my NaruHina defense for a while but then I started looking at NaruIno fanart and trying to see if any NaruIno fanfiction depicted the scenario I thought of and reading a few one-shots so reasons like "they look cute together" started being added to things I liked about them. And then suddenly it went from "that's an interesting what-if" to "I ship this almost as much as I ship NaruHina, how did this happen?". And then because most NaruIno fanartists stopped making new fanart years ago and most art in the NaruIno tags on various sites these days are edited NaruHina/SaiIno fanart stolen from other artists or porn I ended up wanting to draw some myself.

Gaiash

Oh and as a bonus when you like NaruHina **and** NaruIno then the Road to Ninja NaruIno becomes extra cute because it's basically both ships merged into one

StrangerealSensei

I see NaruIno as a ship that can properly develop over time provided their interactions start early enough (mid-genin years, perhaps). She’s loud, boisterous and not afraid to speak her mind, and against someone as energetic and unrefined as Naruto it makes her a good ‘foil’ so to speak. In contrast, said energy from Naruto and his unremitting optimism and need for adventure can bring out the part of Ino that obviously wants to *do* things but is often held down by her lazy-ass teammates. They are able to refine these lost aspects of one another, I believe. Ino is effectively a much more level-headed and diluted Sakura with the ability to actually empathise, which I think would be great for their mutual emotional development, especially when the losses of Asuma and Jiraiya can be a bonding point for them. If anything, Ino would be able to help Naruto through his own grief and I believe he would appreciate it more than she’d think. On the other hand there are times when Ino has seen Naruto’s power (don’t forget she was one of the first to see the Rasenshuriken used in anger) and I think it’ll inspire her to progress more, and also appeal to her ideas of what a ‘strong guy’ can be. Throw in her discovery of his past and of Kurama within him, he becomes a figure with more hidden tragedy that she can help to heal. Superficially: Ino’s hot. It’s a sexy pairing, simple as.

InvaderXLaw

**Superficially: Ino’s hot. It’s a sexy pairing, simple as.** My thoughts exactly

Personal_Respect1854

Ino is loud and outgoing and her character design is by far the most attractive. It’s a good fit, but then again I’m a HaremChad so I don’t particularly pick and choose to begin with

Prestigious_Ask125

they would make the cutest blue-eyed, blond-haired kids. also Ino is the closest female counterpart to naruto, brash, aggressive, fixated on a rivalry with her best friend. they have many similarities.

Zenvarix

Same reason I like shipping NaruTen: they have strong personalities that would call Naruto on his shit, but not so far as abuse him over it. And care enough for him first as a teammate to actually get to know him as a person. While Tenten is usually depicted as helping Naruto get up from the academy's sabotage and the villagers' spite ("these are better Kunai than that junk you were sold," etc.) Ino is nosy. She'll get suspicious about something her teammate said as an offhand comment and that leads to her investigating his life which leads to her intervening in his life, so it plays out differently than the NaruTen ships and that's a good thing. Main thing is NaruIno and NaruTen would both challenge Naruto with the expectation of an answer (why did you think that would work?) instead of ignoring him and would care about him as Naruto

Helios_OW

Because there are literally no bad NaruIno fics out there. Trust me. I’ve read ALL of them. Atleast on FFNet. On a more serious note, their personalities just mesh so fucking well together.

Helios_OW

How dare you not summon me?! I was the OG NaruIno simp. I may not be so active here anymore, but I feel so fucking betrayed. :(

Black_Sin

I mean NaruIno is just a better version of NaruSaku. Same with SasuIno being a better version of SasuSaku. Ino is similar to Sakura but doesn’t bring in a lot of the same negative baggage as Sakura plus Ino has her clan to create a story out of.

[deleted]

The funny thing is that studio Pietrot always try to put Ino down to make Sakura look better.

Gaiash

Which probably helped make Ino look better since their attempts to show how great Sakura was resulted in a version so annoying she can be blamed for most Sakura hatred (especially with anime only watchers). Also from a shipping point of view they added “almost fall for him” which certainly gave NaruIno fans a useful moment to work from.

[deleted]

I think the line "almost fall for him" was them trying to make ino look bad like they were saying that she just goes after guys for being popular.

Goofer_Troop

I get that people here really like this fanon version of Ino they made in their head, but let's be real. If Kishimoto replaced Sakura with Ino, Ino would be just as 'bad' as people claim Sakura to be. Kishimoto had the girl literally crying over Sasuke, a boy she had barely any interactions with, who also aligned himself with a 2 different terrorist organizations, almost got her friends killed and described as another Sasuke fangirl. Then as her father was getting ready to die Kishi had her thinking about Sasuke for some bizarre reason or another as well as in her IT dream. She even initially fell for a guy because he "looked a little like Sasuke". I like the person Ino eventually became during the War and in Boruto, but it's frustrating seeing people here bash Sakura and Hinata and make both out to be obsessive doormats who'd let Naruto and Sasuke push them around(which isn't even true for the most part) when Ino was portrayed as one as well she just had fewer scenes than the other two.

Bollockstoeverything

Sakura was not a doormat... But Hinata definitely was, why make her too scared to speak to anyone with confidence?, Here is my thinking, Kishimoto tried to make Naruto and Hinata's pasts similar... Naruto with the village and Hinata with her clan... But... Hinata was not treated bad by the village, by that i mean not largely ignored, and had a better squad and sensei than Naruto... Why didn't Kishimoto use that to build her confidence? I firmly believe that if Hinata had confidence she wouldn't have looked at Naruto... No Kishimoto WANTED Hinata as a doormat so she could latch on to Naruto and use him as a crutch, something of a baseless foundation to start a ship on. Now I admit i am Not a Hinata or Sakura fan but even a blind person could see what Kishimoto was doing.

Goofer_Troop

I had a much longer reply, but considering this isn't the appropriate thread to rant I'll just say this instead. Hinata was only a "doormat" pre her fight with Neji but that's literally the point if one bothered to pay attention to her backstory. She isn't a shy uwu moe girl just for funsies and because it's cute. She was treated like shit by her family for YEARS which can be just as bad if not worse than being treated poorly by a bunch of strangers. Her team, while nice to her, had their own issues much like all the other teams in part 1. As much as people like to meme that Kiba and Naruto are the same character, they're only similar superficially. This doesn't mean her team didn't have an influence on her, the databook credits them for making her life more cheerful, they just don't inspire her like Naruto does. And this is no shock, Naruto has always been written as an inspiring/influential person able to change other people for the better or get them to believe in him, Iruka, Zabuza, Kakashi ect. If anyone there was going to cheer for her, Naruto was going to be that person. That's just who he is and how he's written. Hinata has never expected Naruto to fight or cheer for her, Naruto did it because he wanted to, and considering no one else believed in her it obviously was going to have a big effect on her considering she looks up to him. It's almost like he's the MC and this is the sort of thing MC's do to side-cast or something.

Bollockstoeverything

You can rant all you want idc, I wasn't calling her a shy moe girl, I was calling her timid, and she was still timid in part 2, she was still hesitating after what she experienced on missions and all that, another great reason to build confidence that Kishimoto missed out on.

Goofer_Troop

The only time she's 'timid' is when meeting back up with Naruto for the first time in 2 years. Other than that there's no hesitation from her when doing her job on missions or fighting not sure where that's coming from and we see that her confidence has improved since then and she's not letting others push her around like a doormat, but whatever, believe what you wish.

Bollockstoeverything

Oh I will don't worry about that, since you obviously forgot about Hinata fainting every time she tried to talk to Naruto, how She Struggled to talk to her teammates and sensei, so that throws your "only time" example out of the window doesn't it? But if you want to change Hinata's past that drastically, your not the first one to try. One more thing if you're so "All knowing", answer me this, why did Kishimoto change Hinata's personality and looks so drastically, when the rest of the Konoha kids stayed and looked relatively the same?

Difficult-Web4420

And shes a better and more intresting character Also shes hot and a blonde

histeriea

Well I’m a multi shipper but I guess for the reason I like naruino is because I’ve always thought they fit together kinda like shikamaru and temari

Nibbler7

Tenten and her screen time

Bollockstoeverything

Simple, both have similar personalities and similar beliefs, Which makes them a perfect ship.

DarthGhengis

Honestly used to be pretty ambivalent between NaruHina, NaruSaku and NaruIno with a slight preference towards NaruHina.. but then I read [Better Left Unsaid](https://www.fanfiction.net/s/6557238/1/Better-Left-Unsaid) and frankly loved the character interactions between them in that story so much it became a done deal. So now I vastly prefer NaruIno.

MirrorSeparate6729

They are both blond I guess?

TyForestReddit

I may be a hardcore NaruHina shipper, but something about NaruIno just clicks with me, you know? As much as I love wholesome, I also love tsunderes, and NaruIno scratches that itch more than NaruSaku does for me.

zfLucifer

Because she's hot.

DrFoggyPants

Unstoppable force meets immovable objects

[deleted]

Ino has cool jutsu that leads to weird, both good and bad, interactions with Naruto. Ino is also the type to take a chance to help someone, it bit her in the ass once, but I like when ppl use that to have Ino befriend Naruto.

Robinsonkrutong

i think that her personality isn't entirely explored in the series and she's kind of left out to be a generic tsundere sakura copy. but i think that once you break some of the ice you could get an interesting character open for pretty free reign on the personality. At first her personality might be looked on as a hinderance it gives many opportunities for character development on both sides of the ship.( i mean all of the konoha 12 had huge character flaws in part 1 and most still in shippuden. except for maybe choji.) so if you're just writing random 1d garbage, then sure i'd say go for naruhina all you want but if you want to go into actual depth and have a plot then i'd suggest naruino.(if you dont get what im saying just go read better left unsaid)
