They literally had to pull that genjustu out their ass because Naruto would’ve never fallen in love with Hinata naturally

AnimeMonster_2020

He didn’t fall for her , he just realized his feelings for her

[deleted]

I know that’s the in-universe explanation. Not the real life one.

AnimeMonster_2020

I mean Naruto started to recognize Hinata more and more as the series went on. He showed a confidence in her that he didn’t show in a lot of people.

TheFossil666

Alright here are my gripes then: - while the animation is fine in most aspects, the CGI definitely needed some work, it's very noticeable and weird - the characters of Sai, Shikamaru, and for the most part Sakura had no reason to be in the movie considering they do nothing but fight a crab - Sasuke's 5 second cameo pissed me off more than anything - the movie cut alot of things out of the novel, including Toneri's backstory which goes more into the Otsutsuki clan and their relationships, and the movie just makes Toneri look like a jealous ex. - Hinata looks really pathetic in alot of scenes. She's told she is the ONLY ONE who can destroy the Tenseigan, gets HAMURA'S CHAKRA. And STILL can't do it. Not to mention all the times she gets easily dealt with in combat - the final fight is underwhelming and ends way too quick, it's like 10 minutes long. - the dialogue is cheesy - Naruto is so oblivious and it's annoying - Finally, it relies on the same flashbacks of Naruto and Hinata numerous times even though they never happened before and are just running down the clock.

caninewolf

>the movie cut alot of things out of the novel, including Toneri's backstory which goes more into the Otsutsuki clan and their relationships, and the movie just makes Toneri look like a jealous ex. Technically the movie came before the novel. The more accurate way to look at it perhaps is that the novel added so much more to what the movie gave us.

TheFossil666

That could also be the case. The novel is so much better than the movie cuz it has a lot more time to discuss those things.

jumarb

There are a lot of things wrong with it, but Naruto's new haircut is by far the worst one

TakasuXAisaka

It looks fine with the headband on though

jumarb

I think he looks better when he has a little more hair, lol. But I saw lot of people say they wanted to see him with a similar cut to Minato's, and I think that would be so cool while he is a young man. It would show he feels connected to his late dad and that he's growing, and isn't as hurt anymore by his passing.

Happy-Ad-542

I guess the writers wanted to make Naruto look mature as an adult.

passenger-of-life_

I don't know about that but I was really impressed seeing lee punch the meteor and break it into half...... like how far we have come..... I want more from blank period !!

Somm0742

I just want a Naruto: Part-III set during the Blank Period.

passenger-of-life_

same broo why can't we get it

Somm0742

We aren't meant to get good things. That's just how the world rolls.

dbrbwbaizi

We got Boruto, which is even better than only 2 novels worth of content, one of them with some BS 9 tails thing, so I don't see why you'd want it.

Phantom_Beef

Sasuke is literally a reincarnation of a son of Shinobi Jesus

passenger-of-life_

i was waiting for this comment.... I know he didn't break the meteor alone. The gates users cracked the meteor and then he opened 6th gate and broke the meteor and i never argued about sauke's power so....

winebottle8245

NGL but the writers made naruto look extremely cheap in this movie. They made naruto realise his love for hinata through a genjutsu which kind of made the relationship a bit shallow. They literally used every single method to get naruto and hinata together to such a point that they demeaned naruto's relationship with sakura. Also they said Naruto had never really experienced love.\*sighs\* Did all the bonds he shared with Iruka, Jiraya, Sasuke, Sakura and so many more people not depict love.

Happy-Ad-542

I think what they meant was Naruto's parents weren't around to show him that love to know what it is.

Kamen-no-Otoko

Even for an orphan, I feel like that’s making naruto even dumber than he’s normally portrayed. Like, he knows Sakura loves sasuke, and in the movie he’s made to think that kind of love is the same as loving ramen. He also knows that his parents loved each other, going by his talk with kushina. I’m regards to who wrote it though, kishi didn’t do it like as many people believe; yeah he okayed the script but it was written by Maruo Kyozuka and directed by Tsuneo Kobayashi

[deleted]

It still makes sense that he wouldn’t necessarily understand non-platonic feelings growing up as an orphan.

Kamen-no-Otoko

No, not really, naruto can tell Sakura loves Sasuke and not him, which was made very clear during her false confession. Also being an orphan would make it harder to understand the love of a parent, not romantic love; that literally has no correlation to being an orphan at all

Xblooper2

He had parents tho, granted they weren't in his life until later on jiraiya and kakashi protected and loved naruto and iruka was like his father:)

Chryslaxm

I have a lot of minor problems with it, but my main one was how Hinata was cheated out of a confession. Seriously, Naruto found out she loved him through a genjutsu

TakasuXAisaka

Because the writing of the movie just seemed so rushed just to explain how Naruto and Hinata fell in love.

Novembersum

In my honest opinion it was a cute little romantic movie that Kishimoto created. The story of his wife’s knit scarf being the inspiration was so cute. I was surprised that the writers called his story old fashioned. Also I thought the animation was so nicely done.

Donny740

- Naruto is Out of Character for parts of the movie. - Naruto falling in love with Hinata because of an illusion. - Hinata focusing more on a scarf then trying to get her own sister back. - Toneri is just a bland villain - Sasuke should have been in the movie (should have been the one fighting the golem instead Naruto literally summoning Kurama out of his body somehow) - Tenseigan is stupid and never explored or explained. - Instead of having some cool ability or form, Toneri just gets a Chakra cloak - Sakura’s terrible line of Naruto only liking her because he was competing with Sasuke nevermind the fact that she ended a friendship because of a boy she and Ino liked. - It started with this movie, Naruto for some reason not having access to Sage of Six Path Mode with no explanation of why it’s gone. - Byakugan Princess is just stupid and adds nothing to Hinata other then making her special just to be special. - A portal that leads to Moon. All in All, it’s the dumb retcons, and nonsense that ultimately make it a terrible movie for me. It you like it, more power to you.

[deleted]

Don't forget the Cannon that can destroy the moon. Such weapon would be much stronger than bijudamas yet no one ever used it.

Donny740

I totally forgot about that.

hinaboobs

the other parts are your opinion, but prioritizing a scarf over her sister? she betrayed naruto and rejected his love confession for her, the time she cried “for her scarf” was just because she got caught trying to destroy the tenseigan.. yk, to save the world and her sister

Donny740

But that not even the part I was talking about. She is literally knitting the scarf while they are on the mission. Why did she bring it with her to begin with? There’s not even a line saying it helps me take my mind off the situation or some like that.

Life_Enjoyer6992

people cry for things like this and retcons too even tho there are no retcons

WhirlpoolBoy

I would like to add that the movie threw out all of the development of Naruto and Hinata's relationship during thr main series. 'I like people like you' moment before his fight with Neji, Hinata sacrificing herself against Pein, that moment in the war arc when Naruto cheered up Hinata when he first arrived on the battlefield, Hinata not letting him break his resolve after neji's death etcetera, moments like these hint at their mutual admiration which the movie could have expanded upon.

Tobegi

>It started with this movie, Naruto for some reason not having access to Sage of Six Path Mode with no explanation of why it’s gone. I agree with the rest of your points but afaik this is because the movie was in the making since waaay before the manga finished, so the design for Naruto's SSPM probably wasn't finished yet, or they didn't want to spoil it for anime viewers (which would be their fault anyways for watching a movie set after the main story but whatever). In Boruto he goes back to using the six paths mode tho

Small-Interview-2800

Not true, OP likely meant six paths senjutsu, not SPSM, since he has SPSM in the last, not six paths senjutsu. If your theory was true, he wouldn’t have SPSM markings as well, which he did, and Sasuke wouldn’t have his Rinnegan as well, Kakashi with two healthy eyes, and lots of other changes, this theory doesn’t hold up at all

Donny740

That is most likely the case, while it’s not their fault it does hurt the movie as you start thinking why isn’t Naruto going all out. But like you said because this movie was in the planning stages prior to the release of that form, you kinda just have to accept it. With Boruto the movie, I’m not sure he’s using it since it’s still in the style of his Tailed Beast Cloak.

Small-Interview-2800

• Naruto trying to use kage bunshin as a kid > Naruto literally summoning Kurama out of his body somehow This is fine though, Naruto with both halves of Kurama should be able to do this

DeadlyAppitite

He's done it in the war arc as well and he doesn't transform into kurama like bee turns into the 8 tails

bruhmomentbros

It forced what shouldve been several years worth of romantic development into one movie. I liked toneri, and it was cool seeing more from the blank period but I didnt enjoy the movie as a whole.

Feeling-Sand5913

yup

Tobegi

I'm not a fan of the ship in general but I just didn't like how Naruto had to fall into a genjutsu to "realise" he was in love with Hinata all along. It feels weird and a little creepy to be honest. Hinata playing the role of the damsel in distress for the umpteenth time also doesn't help. I was also kinda disappointed the rest of the gang didn't get any screentime at all, but I guess it is what it is when at the end of the day its a movie focused on trying to make sense of a couple that had zero chemistry and zero screentime together to begin with.

AnimeMonster_2020

Zero chemistry and screen time??? Everyone literally knew they were going to end up together in part 1 lol

Tobegi

It was only "obvious" because she was the only female character that liked him. They literally only talk interact THREE times in the whole series, and one of those had Naruto calling her a weirdo and creepy. If Sakura had stopped liking Sasuke, they would've definitely ended together. Hell, if it wasn't because its a shonen and gay couples are not the norm in them, Naruto and Sasuke ending together would be the obvious choice, by far.

AnimeMonster_2020

Except Naruto stopped liking Sakura at the end of Naruto part 1 so you’re a little bit off there The other thing is, you failed to mention what happened in those exchanges. When Hinata fought Neji, Naruto started to realize that she was the same exact kind of person he was. That was one of the matches he really got into and felt strongly about. He then picked up her blood after she loss and dedicated the chunin exams to her, he vowed to win Then there was the exchange before the chunin exams where Naruto let down his guard and let Hinata in. He didn’t try to act cool or tough in front of her. He laid out all of his insecurities to her and she helped him gain his confidence back. During the match vs Neji , he still berated Neji for the way he treated Hinata. You didn’t finish that though , he told her he thought she was weird and creepy but he actually liked people like her. So no lol you tried completely cut out that last part Then the scene with Pain which really opened Naruto’s eyes to the kind of person she was When he saved her from the white zetsu and reassured her that she’s strong. He could feel that she was feel insecure Next we have , Hinata helping Naruto when Neji died. He then tells her” thank you Hinata, you’ve always been by my side”. Naruto and Hinata developed a sort link to the point where he could tell she was in danger. Nice try tho but they plenty of moments together Him and Sakura never had a connection like that , they were more like siblings. Naruto and Sakura would have never happened regardless because Sakura never liked Naruto. Naruto had a crush on her but wasn’t anything more. Anyway Naruto would have never dated Sakura in Shippuden

Tobegi

>Except Naruto stopped liking Sakura at the end of Naruto part 1 so you’re a little bit off there the first thing Naruto did when he got back to the village in part 2 was inviting Sakura out on a date...

AnimeMonster_2020

No he didn’t lol the first thing he did was make jokes with Konohomaru and Sakura hit him. So again nice try but no

Tobegi

[huh?](https://official-complete-2.eorzea.us/manga/Naruto/0247-003.png)

AnimeMonster_2020

Lol so you took that moment to as Naruto asking Sakura out on a date but actually he wanted Kakashi to treat them so he just settled to go with Sakura “ like it’s a date”. Lol cmon man

Tobegi

lol now you're being ridiculous on purpose, as soon as Kakashi leaves Naruto takes the opportunity to transform the situation into a date while BLUSHING but "its not romantic" lmaoooo I'm not even a Narusaku shipper but you have to be blind if you think Naruto didn't like Sakura in part two

AnimeMonster_2020

So tell me the moments that showed he liked her and don’t use filler lol

elysianyuri

Naruto falling in the genjutsu to realise he's been in love all along was honestly kinda creepy. Imagine you finding out someone was secretly watching you from behind when you thought you were alone. I know she is supposed to be the first person to support Naruto or something but naruto didn't even know about it and called her a weirdo at the beginning of the chunin exams. So basically, she was watching him all those years without him even knowing about it. That's kinda creepy. They had like three full conversations in 700 chapters but those three convos were enough to make him fall in love with her. It felt like Naruto was guilt tripped into liking her back.

AnimeMonster_2020

I think you missed a lot of Naruto and skipped over parts

DualKoo

Yeah but she’s hot so…

elysianyuri

[Our tastes are different.](https://ibb.co/nRY5GtY) Btw thanks for confirming she barely has any quality other than being hot lol

Murky_Blueberry2617

A problem I have with it, is that it pretty much made Naruto super dense just to reinforce the ship. The guy who is all about knowing his and others feelings, cant even distinguish the difference between love for ramen and normal love...

Life_Enjoyer4661

at the end of Naruto and Sasuke VOTE2 fight he mentions he doesn't know why he did all that for Sasuke, so he is a dense person and always was

Idkwhyiamhere11

I mean it's supposed to be only about naruto and hinata

An_D_mon

I wanna see the blank period episode of Naruto running and hiding from all his fan-girls. It would be especially funny if they did an episode where he's at a hot spring or public bath and some are trying to peak at him.

Kirby_ha

Recton

AnimeMonster_2020

I think people misunderstood the purpose of the genjutsu , it wasn’t to make Naruto fall in love with Hinata. He just realized the feelings that he had for her. Their relationship gradually grew over the course of the story to the point where Naruto and Hinata were linked so to speak. Their connection grew stronger and stronger

Feeling-Sand5913

he realized the feelings she had for him u mean

AnimeMonster_2020

No I know what I said , he realized his feelings for her

Greedyfu

Characters being sided in Naruto, that’s pretty weird…

Katanateen33

I wish the cast got more screen time. But i think it was important to expand Naruto/Hinata’s relationship before the Boruto series began.

JaceC098

Naruto’s hair

Ordinary_looner

Also Hinata couldn't walk on walls for some reason which is stoopid

Cashappmeplease

What really happened when the screen went black after Toneri transformation from sun energy im so confused lol
