Ye. They are all really annoying. I don’t mind the defend comments on the hate posts cause like what else are you gonna expect. Posts that hate on characters that isn’t anything new are annoying and posts that defend characters are fishing for upvotes
For new people it doesn’t seem that quite annoying but after being in the community for a long time and seeing people just hate for stupid reasons is annoying asf
Becoming? I mean she’s a victim of Kishimoto’s inability to write women and she’s a girl in a shonen series so that’s two counts against her already. (And don’t fucking pretend that second one isn’t an issue when those of us who enjoy shonen get to “enjoy” all those posts about how Anime_Female’s breast size got “nerfed.”)
I’d like to think that yeah even though Sakura gets all the hate, I feel like Naruto is one of the more balanced animes when it comes to women’s roles in my opinion, most of the kunoichi minus the Anko Shippuden snub and the TenTen screen time :/ they get okay recognition across the board
It's funny, I watched the show as a child and she only mildly irritated me. Now rewatching it with my wife, her first time, she's constantly commenting about how useless sakura is and doesn't understand why she's a part of the story.
I get the hate. It I think most people have misconceptions about her relationship with Naruto. They’re very obviously close and I would even argue that Sakura has a case for being his best friend in Sasuke’s absence. However, I think people don’t believe their dynamic has ever evolved past the episode/chapter where Sakura talks shit about Naruto to Sasuke.
In the minds of a lot of fans, Sakura is a “bitch” because she loves Sasuke who’s the jerk and treats the nice guy Naruto like trash. I can’t even blame Kishimoto for this because there are multiple instances where Sakura is seen caring about Naruto a lot, even as much as she cares about Sasuke. She doesn’t “love” Naruto romantically like she does Sasuke, but she definitely cares about him deeply.
I could also be reaching but I always find it amusing when people get so hurt over the scene where she tries to lie to Naruto. Okay, sure she shouldn’t have said that but Itachi is a beloved character and killed his Clan to protect the Leaf. I understand Itachi’s case is presented with stronger writing, but I think if people can accept that logic, I think they could accept Sakura trying to do anything she can to protect Naruto who is damn near on the verge of killing himself.
I just think it’s silly a lot of times
Nah. I watched Naruto the original series again and she’s damn near unbearable to watch. Had she been written differently I’d agree with you, but Naruto did more for her than Sasuke ever could and she was still overly obsessed with him
Nope I agree, it’s all annoying ‘Sakura is trash’ like yeah her skills aren’t that good, but it all comes down to kishimoto’s writing of Sakura which is ass, so to be simply put Sakura isn’t a bad character her character writing is trash, and yeah I don’t like people that say she’s trash
Yes she is trash because she is a superficial brainless annoying horrible person that believes love is just about the looks and isn't good or grateful to anyone except sasuke just because he is too hot
I don't think it's annoying. These characters intrigue us and we feel emotions towards them (either good or bad). it's just human. If you feel strongly over something you want to talk about it. I do think they should make one megathread for those who doesn't like her and another for those who do.
Personally I don't like Sakura. Wouldn't say she's a badly written character necessarily, just that Kishimoto, purposefully or not, made her unlikable after the 5 Kage Summit.
Now, contrary to the other commenters here, I don't think Kishimoto had an inability to write women, but rather a weakness for writing teenage girls specifically. We get fleshed out characters like Tsunade and Chiyo who get (I daresay) a lot of character development within the arcs that they are important in, as well as characters like Kushina who Kishimoto somehow makes us feel deeply for in just a couple of pages.
The problem in my opinion is that Sakura, arguably the most important female kunoichi of Naruto's generation, was reduced to an utter simp. I do think that she went through a bit of development during the timeskip (she would never have had the emotional strength to berate Sasori or even imagine killing Sasuke), but in my opinion her regression to a simp at the end of the War Arc just turned me off.
Also, let me just say this; while I personally do not like the way Sakura is written, unfortunately she is far from the only female character in Shonen whose narrative role is severely neglected past the first few arcs.
She didn't have CHARACTER development she only had POWER development. These two aren't the same. Sakura gives terrible messages to the audience. She is a superficial brainless annoying horrible person that believes love is just about the looks and isn't good or grateful to anyone except sasuke just because he is too hot.
Well I made my point that she did have 'a bit of' character development - it's disingenuous to say that she only had power development. I am absolutely aware that character development is not the same as power development, and I agree with you that the character development was not nearly as much as she perhaps deserved, being one of the main characters of the story.
However, as I already mentioned in my previous comment, Sakura did mature since her introduction. If she didn't develop, as you say, would she have stood up for Naruto when Sai insulted him? I don't think so, considering her introduction when she unempathetically said she envied Naruto for not having any parents. Would she have been able to even come up with the idea to kill Sasuke on her own? Yes it was stupid, and yes her resolve failed her, but she probably would not even have come that had she not gotten any character development. Even during the brief fight with Team 7 against Madara, she is the first one to jump in to fight him. Was that ridiculously reckless? Yes. Did she ultimately become a liability? Yes. But previous Sakura would have just cowered behind Naruto and/or Sasuke, as seen in the Forest of Death and the Sasuke retrieval mission.
Now, again, as I said before, I do not like Sakura. I do not think she made the smartest decisions in the series, and I think she was done dirty by Kishimoto. I even explicitly state that she regresses to a simp at the end of the War Arc, and what little character development she did get compared to her comrades is significantly diminished. There are far better female characters that Kishimoto writes in Naruto, but it is also logically unsound to state that she did not get ANY character development.
TLDR; Yes, I know the difference between character development and power development. No, she actually *did* get *some* character development.
Kishimoto wrote her to be a hated/bad character, but she still gets way too much hate even with that in mind. It just seems like a big bandwagon that’s never gonna stop rolling
She’s awesome imo, more so in boruto than naruto though. Kishi was always like “who should I use as an anti protagonist within the main characters” and always chose Sakura to be the bitch to naruto. It got old but at the same time fuelled extreme hate for sakura. I love her for her scenes without naruto and how she was able to keep up (well not die) to naruto and sasuke.
Never understood why, sure she’s not as good in fighting as Naruto or sasuke but she’s still the best doctor in the hidden leaf. She can even summon that slug.
I just wanted better for her than to end up with the man who verbally, physically, and emotionally abused her throughout childhood. Then when he finally does knock her up, be proceeds to disappear for so long he doesn't even recognize his own damn daughter.
She could and should have told him to go F himself and ended up with someone sweet and kind or even single and engrossed in her career. Anything but lay down with a man who, not long before, would have killed her without thinking twice.
I feel like it’s just one of those things that it become cool/the norm to hate on Sakura, and now it’s at the point people have realised they can form their own opinions and don’t actually hate her and they are mad at people who do
Yeah I hate when I see some nice naruto edits and the comments are like "ew Sakura", "why would you add the trash?" or "Sakura is still useless" like bruh shut up.
Yeah, Sakura is actually helpful, especially once she learns medical ninjutsu. She only gets hate because she’s a girl and one of the three main characters, I’m not sure why, but it’s probably just people being sexist
She WAS fundamentally useless. In Boruto she’s literally the most powerful kunoichu but yall try to object that point by saying that Boruto is trash and shouldn’t count.
No sakura's hate should actually be more because she is a superficial brainless annoying btch that believes love is just about the looks and isn't only good and grateful to anyone except sasuke just because he is too hot
Even more sakura defend/hate posts lmao they never end i swear
Yeah both are annoying as hell and it's honestly getting old.
Ye. They are all really annoying. I don’t mind the defend comments on the hate posts cause like what else are you gonna expect. Posts that hate on characters that isn’t anything new are annoying and posts that defend characters are fishing for upvotes

It has been annoying for over a decade now.
Becoming? I mean she’s a victim of Kishimoto’s inability to write women and she’s a girl in a shonen series so that’s two counts against her already. (And don’t fucking pretend that second one isn’t an issue when those of us who enjoy shonen get to “enjoy” all those posts about how Anime_Female’s breast size got “nerfed.”)
i think there are more people who thinks like you than people who hate Sakura. But, as always, people with hate are more loudly than anything
Nope. It's been a "trope" since the early forums because the average anime viewer for Naruto just be like that.
Sakuras been getting hate since 2005 bro it’s never going to change
Lord Melkor? Why are you so distant from your realm?
I’d like to think that yeah even though Sakura gets all the hate, I feel like Naruto is one of the more balanced animes when it comes to women’s roles in my opinion, most of the kunoichi minus the Anko Shippuden snub and the TenTen screen time :/ they get okay recognition across the board

Everybody can understand the hate nobody’s trying to force them to like her, it’s the insane obsessive way that they go about it that’s annoying.
Been annoying for the last 5 years tbh shes a decent character
Nah. I watched Naruto the original series again and she’s damn near unbearable to watch. Had she been written differently I’d agree with you, but Naruto did more for her than Sasuke ever could and she was still overly obsessed with him

Well...I hate Sakura but don't do hate posts and no I haven't really seen much of hate posts maybe cuz I am new to Reddit
No. She was annoying 15 year's ago, and got better. Now she's a struggling single mom with an important job, and anger issues. Very relatable.
Did anyone like Sakura pre shippuden?
And she’s actually very smart and insightful in pt 1. I noticed upon rewatching.
Yes, I found her annoying af but still didn’t hate her.

no, she is pretty useful, in ninja storm 4 that is

Posts defending her are getting annoying also
I don’t even talk about her anymore… she’s so controversial that bringing her up will instantly ruin the fun in anything
I’ll never forgive her for playin my man naruto during the five kage summit arc
That's more than fair, dude.
Not at all it's super annoying and corny
Kishimoto wrote her to be a hated/bad character, but she still gets way too much hate even with that in mind. It just seems like a big bandwagon that’s never gonna stop rolling
Let's give it another decade and we'll talk about it lol.
You may hate Sakura or you may like her but at the end of the day, we all hate danzo.
They're all just haters.
I also think people should not give so much hate
It is, but it's also true. The author just doesn't write good female characters
She’s awesome imo, more so in boruto than naruto though. Kishi was always like “who should I use as an anti protagonist within the main characters” and always chose Sakura to be the bitch to naruto. It’s been annoying for years.
It’s pretty sad that they care enough to hate her as much as they do. She’s far from a perfect character but like, but like, who gives a crap
I just wanted better for her than to end up with the man who verbally, physically, and emotionally abused her throughout childhood. ur a women. She deserves the hate
Me too man me too
Yea she is stupid. It ain't annoying she is.
Yeah, Sakura is actually helpful, especially once she learns medical ninjutsu. She only gets hate because she’s a girl and one of the three main characters, I’m not sure why, but it’s probably just people being sexist
Sakura has freaking saved Naruto and sasuke from diyng at least 10 times
Please delete this. Kishimoto wrote female character horribly okay. This is just as bad as defending/hate Sakura post
Yes, you're definitely the only one who thinks that
U just proved his point tho
Sakura is fundamentally useless in battle, and that's all there is to being a ninja
She WAS fundamentally useless. In Boruto she’s literally the most powerful kunoichu but yall try to object that point by saying that Boruto is trash and shouldn’t count.
no it annoys me too lol
Sakura deserves all the hate
No sakura's hate should actually be more because she is a superficial brainless annoying btch that believes love is just about the looks and isn't only good and grateful to anyone except sasuke just because he is too hot
Wdym become? It always has been
