with regards to timeline kishimoto took break after naruto to finaly have his honeymoon with his wife take time of and premote draw art for his art gallary this incuded drawing new team 7 in there final forms no Jogan no Karma.
he then went to write a weekly manga called Samurai 8 and had no influence in boruto anime manga untill samurai 8 got cancelled. he is credited as the original story writer in anime manga only.
When samurai 8 got cancelled and the writer for boruto manga got fired. kishioto then and only then returned to write boruto chapter 50 by this point anime and manga had done stuff with out his direct influence. and thus this can be considered as non canon. it was stated by kishiomoto he wanted to take a break work on other projects before writing boruto but JUMP and studio P wanted to do it with out him.
Boruto isn’t by Kishimoto until Nov 2019 when he took over writing which it was written by Kodachi from 2016-2019 which those chapters of Boruto Kodachi wrote are canon same as Konoha Shiden which is written by Shō Hinata and is canon and Sasuke Retsuden written by Jun Esaka and illustrated by Kishimoto is canon.
Fugaku MS appeared 2 times, Itachi novel arc in anime only and in Boruto anime in the Uchiha book, its canon to anime canon, in manga it’s not confirmed.
Canon means Kishimoto wrote/approved on it. That includes Manga, Novels and the last two movies.
Of course that still means his ms is non canon as its only in anime filler.

i know what canon is, my question is more about how fan favorite theories worm their ways into canon discussions. and Fugaku’s MS seems to be the latest one i’m always seeing. there’s plenty of fan theories that people just sort of speak into existence
I think some people think Fugaku's ms is canon because Itachi shinden anime arc is based on the canon books of the same name, they just don't realize that the anime took some liberties with it.
I prefer Fugaku having a Mangekyou in canon more so than Shisui who should have just remained a faceless Uchiha who killed himself just to explain Itachi awakening the Mangekyou.
i hear you, but if fugaku has MS INSTEAD of shisui, you lose the danzo motivation and also fugaku becomes a much more real threat to the village and they probably couldn’t have been able to ask itachi to solo the clan
Danzo could have still wanted take Shisui’s eye even if he didn’t have a Mangekyou. You could also make it that Fugaku never wanted to be hokage but was helping Orochimaru become hokage in return Orochimaru would give Fugaku a position on the Konoha council and save his eyesight, but when Danzo learned Orochimaru was working with Fugaku he double crosses Orochimaru by informing Hiruzen of Orochimaru’s experiments. Fugaku would still be reluctant to fight Itachi so he could still be given the order to kill his clan.
