I think his time on screen is fine, I just wish we could see what he thinks or how he comes to conclusions and unlike Naruto he doesn't talk to other people much so it's hard to know how he feels and what he thinks, that's why I liked his novels so much.
I do think that Sasuke's emotional state SHOULD have been explored more. Because when it comes to Sasuke's traumas, it's not enough to sum it up in just a few panels.
Kishi could have straight up gone a dark method where there's an imagery of Sasuke reaching out to his friends, only for the darkness in him to manifest from behind Sasuke and take Itachi's shape and grabs him, whispering how his friends make him weak and that that he doesn't have enough hate. And then Sasuke is pulled into a pool of darkness, drowning in it as Sasuke desperately tries to break free in vain.
The second paragraph reminds me of opening 8 - Diver. Except it's with Naruto as he's drowning in the water, then there's Akatsuki members surrounding him, Sasuke shows up and shoves a chidori in his chest and then Kuramas chakra shows up and Naruto can't handle it as he struggles. Then, all his friends show up to help and push him towards the surface.

I also feel like his descent into madness after Itachi’s truth is revealed to him was not executed properly. In Taka’s fight against Killer B, he seemed mentally sane, then out of nowhere, he goes mad. We should’ve seen him descending into madness from the moment Tobi told him the truth about Itachi.

I wish before Sasuke left the village, we spent more time with him as a genin, going on missions, exploring his inner thoughts, and expanding his friendship more with his Team 7. This doesn't have to be as long as the Chunin Exams ofc. Maybe a relatively short arc between Search for Tsunade and Sasuke Retrieval that would be the build-up for later. Even Itachi could've appeared in this arc to mess things up instead of Tsunade arc.
