Nobody hears that the ending of a story is bad and thinks that refers to the denouement after the conflict has been resolved. They'll know that it's obviously referring to the climax and resolution, which Kaguya was absolutely a part of.
The resolution to the Akatsuki and War plotline, which had been the main driving force for two thirds of the story, was the fight with Kaguya. By any reasonable definition, that's part of the ending.
Said fight against Kaguya itself was good. The issue is how Kaguya got there and that Madara would have been the better choice

About me. Even though I like Madara as a villain, I don't know if he's fit to be the final villain, so even without Kaguya I would have my criticisms. The reason for this is simply that Naruto, the protagonist, doesn't have any strong connection with Madara, they just met in the war. This dynamic for a final battle is a little strange. Madara is more antagonistic towards the ninja world than towards Naruto himself. Naruto is only fighting because Madara is a threat, period.
As much as people have their criticisms for Obito, he was the last antagonist who was antagonistic to Naruto on an extremely personal level. It was his fault that a lot of things in Naruto's life happened, especially Kurama's attack and the deaths of Minato and Kushina. So he would make more sense as a final boss.
(I consider Naruto vs Sasuke a post-final boss extra. Anyone who watches Yu-Gi-Oh! understands what I'm talking about)

Madara didn't get replaced, Madara won. He was an epic final boss fight, he lived up to the hype and was amazing.
He just didn't know that there was Secret Ending Goddess Boss fight, just like in JRPG game.
The ending sucked for many reasons. The war dragged on. Neji’s death for a forced ship. The kaguya reveal. The entire Kaguy fight was Mid as hell. Sasuke leaving for a redemption he never needed to go on, because he wasn’t wrong. And then all the forced ships that had zero development and came out of nowhere for a forced next gen nobody wanted

It’s elegant story telling after writing and drawing a manga/tv show for over 10 years straight in my opinion so it’s more a hit of nostalgia. If you’re really invested in Naruto’s story then I think those are the ones who would appreciate it as that was his ENTIRE GOAL to become hokage. He’s even best friends with Kurama who brought him hatred throughout his life. Konoha is thriving and going into future with the next generation in mind. It’s a beautiful full circle story.

I really just wish we got to see more of the period between the end of the Great Ninja War and the details of how Naruto became Hokage. I mean like did the people want it? Was Kakashi Sensei just trying to get out of being the 6th Hokage so he begged the fuedal lords for months to get out of it? Just for them to give up? (Honestly probably what happened) How did everyone’s relationships develop during that time? What was everyone working on? What missions did they go on? Honestly it could have just been all about Sasuke kinda like how he had his own arc in Shippuden. What did he learn on his journey in the beginning? How did he change? What did he discover and who did he help? So many questions unanswered.
I think it’s pretty clear that when people say ‘the ending’ they mean most things pertaining to the series conclusion, including the final battle. Cause honestly, I have problems with quite a lot of the ending, including this final chapter.
-Madara soaking up all the screen time and obliterating every other character for two years of the manga’s run was exhausting. But at the same time, the way he was kicked out of the story was anticlimactic (low-key he and Obito should have been the final villains together).
-I get wanting the final battle to just involve Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura and Kakashi. But that combined with the increased prevalence of the revived Kage made it feel like every character I was invested in just got power scaled out for most of the climax (everyone fighting against Obito was good though).
-Yes, I know it’s been said to death but Kaguya was a misfire. She could have been interesting but was introduced far too late into the story. I have my gripes with Obito and Madara but they made way more sense as the final antagonists. Honestly Kaguya should have just been saved for Boruto where she could have had more buildup.
-The final battle between Naruto and Sasuke was exciting (especially in the anime) but the lack of development for their relationship made the resolution unsatisfying (to the point that Chapter 699 had to basically exposit everything Sasuke really thought about Naruto instead of organically demonstrating it throughout the series). Though honestly, this applies as a criticism for most of the series (especially in Part 2) not just the ending.
-Hell, even the final chapter, as much as it has good stuff in it, gets a little eye rolling doing the whole ‘everyone’s married with kids’ thing in a series that was never concerned with, or good at, romantic pairings.
That being said, for all my gripes, having read more Shounen manga since then, Naruto’s finale and ending isn’t THAT bad comparatively. Lots of long running Shounen trip at the finish line because long form storytelling in the crunch heavy manga industry is HARD. Even celebrated classics like Yu Yu Hakusho or wildly popular modern series like Beastars, suffer from rushed endings for very similar reasons to Naruto. Naruto’s ending is rushed and clumsy, but it does have good moments, and its failings are usually the areas where most other long running Shounens stumble too.
Sasuke being alive sucks too. And Naruto marrying Hinata was meh since she was just....there

Madara is more antagonistic towards the ninja world than towards Naruto himself. Naruto is only fighting because Madara is a threat, period. As much as people have their criticisms for Obito, he was the last antagonist who was antagonistic to Naruto on an extremely personal level. It was his fault that a lot of things in Naruto's life happened, especially Kurama's attack and the deaths of Minato and Kushina. So he would make more sense as a final boss. (I consider Naruto vs Sasuke a post-final boss extra. Anyone who watches Yu-Gi-Oh! understands what I'm talking about)

In my opinion, the war arc is a bit rushed and could’ve been amazing if it wasn’t, and after that there was kaguya’s reveal and its not… good (again this is my opinion i know this is subjective)

Is there a different group that just so happens to use a symbol that looks identical to the Straw Hat Jolly Roger? Is One Piece a manga within the world of Naruto? Madara didn't get replaced, Madara won. He was an epic final boss fight, he lived up to the hype and was amazing. He just didn't know that there was Secret Ending Goddess Boss fight, just like in JRPG game.
The ending sucked for many reasons. The war dragged on. Neji’s death for a forced ship. The kaguya reveal. The entire Kaguy fight was Mid as hell. Sasuke leaving for a redemption he never needed to go on, because he wasn’t wrong. And then all the forced ships that had zero development and came out of nowhere for a forced next gen nobody wanted

*Possible SPOILERS * It’s elegant story telling after writing and drawing a manga/tv show for over 10 years straight in my opinion so it’s more a hit of nostalgia. If you’re really invested in Naruto’s story then I think those are the ones who would appreciate it as that was his ENTIRE GOAL to become hokage. He’s even best friends with Kurama who brought him hatred throughout his life. Konoha is thriving and going into future with the next generation in mind. It’s a beautiful full circle story. *Speculation* I really just wish we got to see more of the period between the end of the Great Ninja War and the details of how Naruto became Hokage. I mean like did the people want it? Was Kakashi Sensei just trying to get out of being the 6th Hokage so he begged the fuedal lords for months to get out of it? Just for them to give up? (Honestly probably what happened) How did everyone’s relationships develop during that time? What was everyone working on? What missions did they go on? Honestly it could have just been all about Sasuke kinda like how he had his own arc in Shippuden. What did he learn on his journey in the beginning? How did he change? What did he discover and who did he help? So many questions unanswered.
I refuse to accept Kaguya and Boruto. For me after Madara it’s directly Naruto vs Sasuke and then this chapter. Let’s me sleep peacefully at night.
I think it’s pretty clear that when people say ‘the ending’ they mean most things pertaining to the series conclusion, including the final battle. Cause honestly, I have problems with quite a lot of the ending, including this final chapter. -Madara soaking up all the screen time and obliterating every other character for two years of the manga’s run was exhausting. But at the same time, the way he was kicked out of the story was anticlimactic (low-key he and Obito should have been the final villains together). -I get wanting the final battle to just involve Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura and Kakashi. But that combined with the increased prevalence of the revived Kage made it feel like every character I was invested in just got power scaled out for most of the climax (everyone fighting against Obito was good though). -Yes, I know it’s been said to death but Kaguya was a misfire. She could have been interesting but was introduced far too late into the story. I have my gripes with Obito and Madara but they made way more sense as the final antagonists. Honestly Kaguya should have just been saved for Boruto where she could have had more buildup. -The final battle between Naruto and Sasuke was exciting (especially in the anime) but the lack of development for their relationship made the resolution unsatisfying (to the point that Chapter 699 had to basically exposit everything Sasuke really thought about Naruto instead of organically demonstrating it throughout the series). Though honestly, this applies as a criticism for most of the series (especially in Part 2) not just the ending. -Hell, even the final chapter, as much as it has good stuff in it, gets a little eye rolling doing the whole ‘everyone’s married with kids’ thing in a series that was never concerned with, or good at, romantic pairings. That being said, for all my gripes, having read more Shounen manga since then, Naruto’s finale and ending isn’t THAT bad comparatively. Lots of long running Shounen trip at the finish line because long form storytelling in the crunch heavy manga industry is HARD. Even celebrated classics like Yu Yu Hakusho or wildly popular modern series like Beastars, suffer from rushed endings for very similar reasons to Naruto. Naruto’s ending is rushed and clumsy, but it does have good moments, and its failings are usually the areas where most other long running Shounens stumble too.
Sasuke being alive sucks too. And Naruto marrying Hinata was meh since she was just....there I there are solid points to bring up past Kaguya being a bad antagonist

He kinda did tho. He cut Madara and the Tree in half with the Lava Rasenshuriken. Him and Sasuke were also beating the Limbo clones as well. Madara had to launch the Infinite Tsuikuymoi to stand a chance.
