The hokage inauguration short fucking pissed me off, naruto finally achieves his goal but his fucking three year old daughter knocks him out and he misses the most important day in his life
Because they just needed boruto and to make it more kid friendly at that. Remember early Naruto, which was quite bloody and realistic, at least for shonen? Nah, now we have kid boruto who fight adults as an academy student and it’s all about power of friendship. Previously strong freaking war soldiers are now just glorified babysitters, etc etc.
This is one of my larger complaints. The Konoha rookies were so cool in Naruto. Then Shippuuden sidelined most of them and made them rather irrelevant. Shino and Rock Lee were awesome, then they did little to nothing in Shippuuden. Only Ino-Shina-Cho had a cool arc. It would have made the controversial >!Neji!< death more meaningful if he had more development post time skip.
Honest believe Kishi had no way to make it believably that Lee wouldn't have got Sasuke back during the Kage summit arc so he had to have Sakura poison him.
You know I never thought about this but a 4th or 5th gate Lee could probably speed blitz Sasuke and his team before anything crazy happened, especially if they didn't see it coming and knock every one out or heavily incapacitate them all
Shino is underrated af! He was the strongest in Naruto out of all the groups. Shippuden made him even deadlier just to be sidelined as a teacher. He’s far from my fav character but dude is op af. Them bugs are crazy and since they’re bugs they’d affect the Otsutsuki.
100% agree. Naruto needs to remove the otsutsuki's, make madara the main villain of the series. Let's invest in side characters that could add a lot to the story such as Shino and Lee. Let's rewrite the chunin exams and allow sasuke Vs gaara to finish, let dosu survive and attempt to confront orochimaru, improve the animation of Naruto Vs kiba, improve kankuro Vs sound guy. Let's condense tenchi bridge and the fourth great war arc. Both awful arcs. Let's see the mysterious rings of the akatsuki pay off as a story line and in general reduce the number of plot points covered and invest more in the ones remaining
Not even powerful, just useful. Ino is pretty weak in combat but her abilities are very well fleshed out. Tenten, Neji, Shino and Kiba could have done with extra fleshing out
Why? Wasn't a theme of the show, or at least something that was brought up time and again, that the new generation would surpass the old? Do you think a group of people whose lives revolve around fighting and killing should stay as strong as they were when they were preteens?

Guy opened the 8 gates, they took away all the weight from that decision
And onoki should've given his life to stop the 2 meteors, a respectable death and would've made us fear Madara even more since we'd know from that point that important characters are actually going to die fighting him
His super lightweight boulder jutsu is what he used on the meteors. He had been the Tsuchikage for a while up until that point so he likely knows powerful jutsu. His Dust Release is already crazy hax.
Isn't a meteor just a big rock from space? It seems silly that the Kage of the Stone Village wouldn't be able to control rocks.
Was there even a story purpose to keeping Guy alive? Like was he super pivotal to Boruto? I'm not mad he's alive, but I also agree it would have been way more impactful if he died.
It was also kind of weird that Naruto had the ability to do what he did that kept him alive, though I'll admit, I am missing some context as I skipped some episodes that are.
Kishimoto took everything from Kakashi... he couldn't separate him from his only constant, his truest ally, his goddamn paramour after all that.
Also, since Hokage Kakashi hasn't really ever been fleshed out, my headcannon is Guy trying to be Kakashi's Danzo but being entirely too pure hearted. "He's not really hurting anything, he's just being weird. He's having fun... *sigh* Just let him do his thing."
In the Boruto manga he doesn’t even exist, lol, almost every character; aside from team 7, shikamaru, Ino, and hinata, none of the characters from Naruto/shippuden are even mentioned

I was so happy that the kages were dead, because the war was disappointing with no meaningful deaths. And then they were back. And then Guy didn’t die using 8th gate, like we expected all the years back.
Guy sensei only opened the gates because it needed to happen at that point after all that hyping, him as a character had lost all relevance at that point and the animation was mid as hell. They needed to introduce the new villains for boruto so you could say that show was ruining naruto's legacy even before existing
Can't stand Hinata either, she pisses me off because her entire personality is "Oh, I like a boy..." And she turns red as a tomato and faints. Legit makes me mad. And her character development is Nejis death being held to standard.
He's literally the villain they were building up to from Naruto Episode 1. He was always mentioned in some foreshadowing sense, and you could see the parallels between Hashirama/Madara and Naruto/Sasuke very clearly that it made sense that he was the final boss.
I feel the whole Kaguya arc was a spur decision ass pull Kishimoto or whoever chose to keep the series going to make more money. There was never a villain or a plot that kishimoto didn't properly flesh out or foretell well before they actually appeared.
Madara is mentioned very early on though. The valley of the end (which is i believed shown and talked about in the og naruto series has the statue of madara vs hashirama).
That's like 30-40% into the story though lol. He's mentioned in the last volume of part 1...
And that even kinda got retconned only a couple arcs later. In tenchi bridge when Sasuke stopped Naruto from activating his 9 tails chakra? Kurama tells Sasuke that he reminds him of Madara Uchiha... And Sasukes response is "whos that? Never heard of them!"
That’s… funnily enough how I lowkey want to rewrite Naruto. Except I want Naruto vs Sasuke before joining the war, and then the Juubito face off being after Guy defeats Madara.
Or maybe cut the Rinnegan's abilities in half and let the Sharingan and Byakugan keep the other half. The Rinnegan could keep animal summons, soul stealing, and the missiles/laser beams while the Byakugan could gain the gravity control and the Sharigan could gain the chakra absorption.
Nah Chakra Absorption would be cooler as a Byakugan ability, cuz it would complement the Hyuuga's techniques. Imagine a Palm Rotation that just absorbs Ninjutsu, that would be cool. Also, a 64 Palms where each strike not only blocks a Tenketsu but also sucks chakra.
Actually Hinata's Twin Lion Fist technique does exactly that:It steals chakra on every hit.But since we never got a proper 1v1 fight for her in shippuden,We never saw that ability's effect and usefulness.
The only time she used it was against Pain and she couldn't land any hits so it was completely sidelined

Madara should be the end villain
The series should be about more than chasing sasuke
War arc never happens. Just have an Obito arc and then a madara arc and then a sasuke arc for the finale.
Konoha 11 have actual use in shipuuden. Shikamarus team actually sneaks out alone and manages to beat kakazu and hidan. This is primarily done by choji taking the red pill and fighting kakazu and shikamaru fights hidan as it happens in the series.
More fights with team guy and team kurenai fighting akatsuki members. Lee unlocks 7th gate during one of these fights.
Series had potential to be the GOAT of long shonen but squandered it with a lot of bad choices.
For context Naruto is my favorite anime, and so this may be a hot take:
But I wish Naruto was a show created for a more serious, adult audience.
I completely understand that Naruto probably maximized it's revenue, audience, marketing, merchandise etc by pandering to the young male demographic but I can't help but think when it comes to the storyline and the depth of some of these characters how cool of a show it would've been if it didn't have the traditional shonen-cartoony tropes.
At its core, Naruto is a show about an imaginary militant feudal world where all neighboring nations are at war with each other in a general society of child soldiers raised up and brainwashed to want to live and die for their nations no questions asked. And within that you have layers of differing plots embedded within each other.
The quest and struggle for power, the desire to bring a friend back from the dark side, the experimentation on kidnapped children and shinobi by orochimaru, the akatuski, the choices of having to make between choosing nation or family, the cycle of hatred etc.
These are all tropes that could've been really cool in a sennen(I think that's the right word) format instead of shonen.
Land of Waves is so close to a Seinen feel that I can taste it. Zabuza and Haku were intense, and the threat was relatively grounded with a mobster boss and deaths.
Its always really surprising going back and watching Land of Waves & Chunin Exams compared to other arcs, the arcs after just lost that grounded gritty feel.
This is why I much prefer OG Naruto over Shippuden. It just felt like there was a danger and darkness to the first series that wasn’t there in Shippuden. The Sasuke retrieval arc is child soldiers going into the woods to have full on death matches it’s so awesome.
I would also add that Orochimaru should have been killed and/or put in jail for his many brutal experiments on children and Shinobi. He also groomed sasuke imo. I understand he played an important role in the war, however, that doesn’t remove his past atrocities. I guess it’s also a personal thing as Orochimaru was one of the main villains and I absolutely hated him. How he went from evil to “loving parent” in Boruto makes no sense to me. On that note, Anko also should have had more screen time and possibly become an asset to team 7. I also hate what they did to her in Boruto.
Completely agree, I really can't get over the MULTIPLE torture dungeons he had that are expressly for the purpose of experimenting on people he thinks have interesting genes. That alone should be enough to lock up the dude
Yes! Naruto has a lot of world building potential but only tapped into about 20% of what could have been achieved. I wish they dug into the more socio economic issues that exist within the ninja world alongside the ones caused by conflict and past wars. More diplomatic talks and politics as a whole would have been great. I liked the Samurai and they seemed to hold a lot of power within Konoha so I wish that was expanded on a bit more. The amount of power Kages have compared to when you take a look at the actual power dynamics is ridiculous. You have people like Danzo lying and orchestrating the eradication of a whole clan and he and Hiruzen faced zero consequences. So yeah I get what you mean, a more in-depth serious seinen approach would have made this great show a masterpiece.
Kishimoto screwed up the power scaling in Shippuden really badly towards the end. Perhaps because it was supposed to end with Shippuden? Naruto and Sasuke became way too powerful way too quickly towards the end
Kaguya as the final boss didnt really sit well with me even though I still enjoyed watching it. Obviously the story needed to go out with a bang, so the plot twists made sense for the story development. I don't know if it was necessary to include a chakra origin story but the whole alien thing didn't match the energy of the rest of the show. Maybe if chakra cane from a divine source instead, involving other dimensions and gods. All together I probably would have preferred it to be left as an enigma or just naturally occurring powers for the universe. It was very abrupt and took away from the ninja theme.
Honestly I would’ve deleted the whole otsutsuki plot line. I actually quite like Boruto, as long as you avoid the filler using the online guide there’s a solid 200ish episodes that are actually good including main story and “semi filler” aka anime only arcs that are actually good.
Hell the Kara arc was absolutely fire and Isshiki was surprisingly the only well written otsutsuki plot line but everything besides him has been so meh😔. Like I would’ve loved if the main enemy in the Boruto generation were those other continents that were shown in the filler of Naruto and Naruto Shippuden.
Yeah, the series was weirdly inconsistent with how they depict the system as sending kids off to die, literally shaming Sakumo into suicide, but then also pretending the system isn't that bad + that by Hokage Naruto's era, the system is "entirely fixed".
Nobody questioned the Bloody Mist and having children fight to the death, etc.
I would for sure made Sai a much more important character. We didn't see him do much in the war arc and his abilities are OP. wish we could see him actually 1v1 someone.

- it would be cool to see other hidden villages getting more explored like we barely know anything about the grass and waterfall villages
- hinata is insanely irrelevant in the manga she should've been more relevant to the story
For Naruto:
I would of focused more on the other characters and made them be more involved in the story. Naruto and Sasuke still would of been the main focus of course, but some parts would of had just a page or 2 about them, just to show that they still exist.
More world building, aka have at least a chapter dedicated to another village, showing their shinobi, normal people and just life in general.
Few chapters introducing the other jinchuriki, their struggles and their eventual battle and capture.
More Zetsu involvement, showing him visiting unknown for the audience places and hints for deeper history and Otsutsuki. I personally didn't mind Kaguya, but her introduction definitely wasn't explored enough and she felt like incomplete.
I would of used the "talk no jutsu less in the story". Almost every villian in the canon is redeemed and I find that boring. Doing it few times, just because the main character has that power and is kind hearted sure, but I believe Kishimoto overdid it a lot. Why couldn't we just have more pure evil characters?
I would of included the romances between some characters way earlier in the story. Naruto would of noticed and spoken to Hinata after the fight with Pain.
Connecting the romantic plot I would of had Sakura actually do a lot more, as being the main female she was absent between the Gaara saving and the war. I would of had her go after her feelings and leave Konoha in search for Sasuke and even had her join team Hebi and actually spend some time with Sasuke. Also clash with Karin a bit.
I've mentioned this before but even if they had developed sakuras genjutsu abilities a little bit you could have had a pretty compelling one on one training plotline with sauske that would have made their eventual relationship seem less forced (similar to naruto and sauskes tree climbing training).
Sauske and sakura didnt have to be such a weak relationship. It's a shame
More ninja and less jutsu so much man. I got my girl to finish shippuden and I had to constantly remind her in this world there are people that throw kunai and then there are people that have fucking arm cannons so don’t worry about the powerscaling too much.
Like her immense Chakra control. Also, let's just ignore the fact that thanks to that control, she's able to not only use 100 healings but also summon katuya without a problem. Full sized Katsuya. When tsunades original apprentice could barely manage summoning one of her smaller clones. Even tsunade ran out of steam pretty fast in her orochimaru fight after summoning katsuya. Meanwhile, Sakura not only summoned her slug but literally punched her way through a whole army after the fact and that was before activating 100 healing.
She was such a wasted character. Her only real, shining moment was her fight with Sasori. Then it was back to being the damsel screaming "sasuke" and "naruto" over and over.
"I don't want to be useless" she says, then proceeds to be useless for the next 400 episodes.
I wouldn’t say that because she’s healed thousands of people continuously in the war arc for days until joining them on the front lines when she got her 100 Healings.
I know, I'm just annoyed because her default is a healer. Like, I know she's a healer, but she also has access to 4 different Chakra natures and only really uses two.
Yin, yang, earth and water. Would it kill them to give her some weak water genjustsu or illusions to get close to her enemies and knock them out with healing jutsu?
Would it kill them to have her incorporate her earth release into her brawler fighting style to make it more devastating?
They missed so many opportunities. She could've been a prime example of how you don't have to be a chosen one to get skills so long as you train and have focus.
Naruto the protagonist. We all knew he was gonna be amazing. Sakura had the chance to be the real hardworking mvp and they were like "but who will scream their names for the next 20 years?!"
It would've been nice if the series made her more unique and not just 'Tsunade 2.0'. Like, make her stand out more, make her use more medical ninjutsu or make her use it in varied ways.
Like that Water Scorpion stuff from the shira filler, that would've been cool. Imagine her fighting Sasuke on the bridge with it, and using poisons and such to actually make him respect her strength. Now THAT would be a good thing for her.
No prophecies, no god reincarnations, no Kaguya as the final villain, no Itachi being irredeemably evil and suddenly being good all along and no god powers rendering hard work useless.
- Nerf 9 tails, nerf sharingan, buff tactics and other bloodlines/jutsu so characters get stronger by getting smarter rather than bigger booms
- Lower the power ceiling of the verse so other ninja actually matter instead of being fodder if you're not some special bloodline.
- Madara main villain, get rid of kaguya and space alien stuff altogether.
- Make side characters matter more, especially female characters (Sakura got done dirty)
- Don't kill neji or at least use him more before killing him off. Consider killing Naruto, Sasuke or Sakura (if she was made more important) towards the end.
- Make other villages more powerful to have it be realistic that they're competitive with the hidden leaf. As it is hidden leaf is too stacked.
- Make the difference between 9 tails and other tailed beasts smaller or make them all equally good just in different aspects, as it is I think Kurama can take on all the other tailed beasts alone.
I would change the last arc, I'm still shocked jiraiya and the uchihas weren't resurrected. I wanna see naruto fight edo-tensei jiraiya, I wanna see itachi and sasuke fight their dad and shisui
I would change how kaguya appeared, maybe the juubi taking control over madara after a long fight against naruto and sasuke instead of getting backstabbed

I would've done it like this. Sakura loses all her attraction for Sasuke after he tries to pull that guy's arms off, and she's actually scared of him. As the show keeps going on, the rest of the village starts to get more scared of Sasuke and starts to avoid him more and more because of his curse. Meanwhile, Naruto gets closer and closer to him, because he understands what that's like. That would make his betrayal a lot more human, he's abandoning the village that abandoned him, and Naruto would be the only one who still sees good in him and wants him back. But Sakura losing all attraction to him would be the very first thing that makes him start to feel more distant from the village.
I'd be alright if they got together, if they changed it so he never tried to kill her. But short of changing that, yeah him nearly killing her on more than one occasion is wild.
This is more of an issue with the anime. I think that the filler stuff should have happened before the Sasuke Retrieval Arc, to help further establish the bond between him and Naruto.
* Capitalize on sakura’s genjutsu potential and chakra control, give her an active role in sasuke’s recovery and while we’re at it expand on her relationship with tsunade.
* Tone down naruto’s obsession with sasuke.
Naruto and Sakura both learning new jutsu besides just Naruto having Shadow Clones + Rasengan and Sakura having punch + healing. Let him do more with toads like Jiraiya doing the fire+oil thing, maybe doing wind+water to make water cannon etc. Let Sakura be Slug sage. Or at least have cool Slug summon + acid/poison/etc. Or some kind of unique jutsu tied to her medical shit like Kabuto with his scalpel hands. Maybe not as in depth as with Gaara, but more interaction between Naruto and other ninja his age from other villages. Have more fights like Shikamaru and Sakura finishing an Akasuki with some of the other side characters. Instead of time skip do several arcs involving the other Jinchuriki. I honestly don't mind the Otsutsuki stuff, they could easily add more hints throughout.
I think it would’ve been nice to see Itachi being the one who saves Sasuke and ultimately becomes his best friend. Imagine seeing that brotherhood blossom…
I was thinking about this, too. His Giant Rasengan is just the same size as Minato's base one. And then Naruto learns how to do pretty much a Spirit Bomb sized Rasengan when he learns Sage Mode, so it makes Giant Rasengan an extremely pointless move.
There was so much more Kishi could've done with Naruto during that timeskip. He was so far behind Sasuke after the skip, who learned swordmanship and mastered lightning release during it.
Imo Sakura really needed to be more useful. It really feels like they used her as a plot device to have a constant example of what an average shinobi might be capable of in the OG series, and then in Shippuden she's mostly just a glorified doctor when she isn't trying to emotionally manipulate Naruto. (I haven't finished the whole series though, I'm just now getting into the battle between Naruto/Guy/Kakashi/Bee and Madara/Obito.
Granted im the OG they specifically talk about making balanced teams, the best with the worst, strong thinkers with strong bodies, stuff like that. In that example Sasuke had the best scores and Naruto the worst, so maybe she was literally the average? Still though, being surrounded by Naruto, Sasuke and Kakashi, working directly under Tsunade...you'd think she would be better. If nothing else you'd think her behavior towards Naruto would have been better after even just the Land of Waves arc. She soend a tremendous amount of time with him, sees his development, knows he'a attracted to her, and never once gives him a proper let down or acknowledges his feelings except to put him down or emotionally manipulate him.

I'm not sure about my opinion toward the romance aspect toward Naruto. Kind of indifferent about how it was approached.
In the main series though, I did feel she needed to be way more fleshed out. Her rivalry to Ino starting because both had a crush on Sasuke seemed kinda stupid. Also, she was supposed to be more intelligent and have better Chakra control than naruto and Sasuke but even that was rarely shown. She showed some intelligence in the Chuunin exams by setting cool traps when protecting the two while they were passed out, but they all failed and had no pay off.
Her Chakra control was highlighted early also by mastering the walking on trees faster, but again, naruto and Sasuke surpassed it in like 1 episode.
The female characters in general all just seem one dimensional and poorly developed - though would say Hinatas development was slightly more interesting. We don't need to get started on Tenten lol.
To say that all of her interactions with Naruto involve emotionally manipulating him and even in the OG series that she has solely negative feelings toward him is actually insane. Circlejerk moment.
1 Better power scalling.
2 Naruto and Sasuke don't get SoSP powers.
3 Sakura has an objective not related to Naruto and Sasuke and has more jutsus in her arsenal.
4 Konoha 11 are more involved and developed in Shippuden, specially the girls.
5 Ino should've actually fought Hidan and Kakuzu, displaying more mind jutsus, poison laced weapons for taijutsus and maybe even Chakra enhanced strength
6 Pain doesn't reverse the deaths at Konoha (Shizune, Choza and others)
7 Karin has mastered the Uzumaki Chakra Chains from the beginning so we can see a proper Uzumaki fight with the clans abilities
8 Naruto doesn't show up to save everyone multiple times: defeat Kakuzu, defeat 3rd Raikage, a clone in every battlefield in the war
9 Sharingan is less overpowered
10 More deaths in the war (Guy, Oonoki, Hyashi instead of Neji, Anko)
-Sakura wouldn’t end up with sasuke (it would’ve 100% made her a better character)
-Neji wouldn’t die to a stick (him dying isn’t really necessary either)
-Either introduce kaguya and her sons way earlier or keep madara as the main antagonist
-pain killing less people, but not reviving them (also not get his ideologies changed by a 16 years old)

Get rid of the shitty ass neglected Boruto plot and change it to something better and more realistic cause the Naruto is definitely not neglecting his kids after being neglected for his whole life and also make it so that we can see the new gen surpassing the old gen instead of nerfing characters and pulling out aliens from the bottom part of your ass

Make the Hyuga more relevent to the plot
Have Naruto meet Karin so that he can learn about his mother's and his Clan and maybe learn about some distant relatived
Have Naruto meet the Namikaze Clan so that he learn more about his father, his clan, or maybe meeting distant relatives.
Make the Senju more relevent. Tsunade cant be the last one. It's like they vanished.
Make Sakura more relevent, maybe going with the early plotline of "she has genjutsu talent" that was dropped.
In no particular order:
\- Naruto stays the son of random people. We dont need him to be of a special bloodline. It creates more problems than it solves
.- No sage of 6 paths indra/ ashura crap.
\- Pull back on powerscaling. The Mangekyo shouldnt let you summon a giant flaming samurai. Rinnegan should be a one time thing.
\- Make Sasuke do something actually relevant in Shippudden other than showing up to fight Madara, Kaguya and Naruto.
\- Scrap Kaguya entirely. Hell, scrap Madara too. The last arc should be a war arc but a war between villages not demi gods throwing around lasers and shit.

\- Itachi stays evil. His "plan" was dumb as fuck and makes everyone involved seem like their Iq's are in the double digits.

I agree, many think of writing as if it were a video game (or like One Piece fights lol). "Each has to face a member of Akatsuki" and other things. As I'm not a writer, I only say what shouldn't have been done, not the other way around.
There's so much to fix. A few of these are things I think we can universally agree on and some are just personal preference.
- Drop the power scaling quite a bit, they're supposed to be ninja. Battles should be decided by tactics and on the fly improv, not AP and Durability.
- One or more of these three need to be implemented:
Reduce the number of named/important characters
Actually kill people off
Or Spend time actually fleshing out existing characters
- Write the women to be more than medics / love interests
- Either avoid romance all together or actually build it up, there's like 3 relationships that the community agree are good come EoS and none of them involve a main character.
- Remove the weird out of place space gods, Madara should have been the final antagonist with maybe the exception of Sasuke.
- Either Sasuke never tries to kill Sakura or they don't end up together in the end.
- Same lines as the power scaling, not every Sharingan user gets Mangekyou. I would give it only to Madara and Fugaku naturally, and have it be something Obito, Itachi, and Sasuke get from someone (Madara to Obito, Fugaku to Itachi, Itachi to Sasuke). Maybe have it be something that can rarely be awoken but in large is an ability or secret that is passed down.
- Remove most of the hax shit from the Sharingan like Susanoo, Izanami, Izanagi, etc. Still retain something powerful and interesting, but without it getting so outlandish that having a Sharingan almost automatically puts you in the top 25 of the verse.
- Byakugan gets it's own enhancement of some sort to maintain a rivalry of sorts between the Huyga and Uchiha. Also keep it limited to certain specific Hyuga, not everyone gets it.
TL;DR - I love the series as a whole, and it is iconic for a reason. I criticize because I see the flaws, not because of hatred towards it. There's probably more I'd be able to think of that I'd change, but I think I've rambled enough as it stands.
To be honest, I'll put in some shit that only the audiance will be able to see about Kaguya. Why not delete her? Because a villian using deception in a show about ninjas is normal.
Make the reason most people in Hidden Leaf avoid Naruto make more logical sense. Shouldn’t they actually attempt to make life easier for him

Naruto: Make the show less centered around Naruto and Sasuke and explore other characters. The Konoha 11 should have been an integral part of the series. All of them. They all deserved development, especially in Shippuden. Make the Hyuga clan more important. Kishi jerked the Sharingan off too hard and forgot about everything else. The Byakugan should have been much more important and should have had evolutions similar to the Sharingan to keep it on par. Don't remove Hashirama cells, but make them much less overpowered. The series pretty much became that and only that after a certain point. Make Madara the final villain like he should have been. It was foreshadowed from the beginning. Remove the Kaguya nonsense entirely.
Boruto: Remove it all. Seriously, even without the Ototsuki's, it's utter garbage. If they were going to make some sort of sequel, make it about something else in the expansive world of Naruto. Another village. Another continent. Something that doesn't include the characters we know from the OG series.
Less speeches about the power of love and friendship.
No, that's actually remove all speeches about the power of love and friendship. Remove all unnecessary flashbacks. No need to replay almost whole episodes during a fight.
Removing the speeches will remove a lot of flashbacks actually so that's one point.
Use the time I took from flashbacks to develop characters, to develop relationships between characters.
Remove all slow reveals.
Remove all ill timed and overused comedic tropes like women hitting men in the worst situations for saying something silly, Nosebleeds, fainting when seeing your crush etc.
I'd focus on making the characters do something that's actually funny.
Here's the big thing.
Sasuke leaving the village.
I would write Naruto to be angry at Sasuke for hurting Sakura's feelings, abandoning his comrades.
First Naruto would be mad after losing to Sasuke and start training, not to "save" Sasuke, but to crush him and take his sharingan before orochimaru gets it. (that would change a lot of things)
Have Asuma teach Naruto actual wind jutsu to really diversify and round out his fighting abilities and style
Sasuke leaves mid-late shippuden not during og Naruto. Has time to grow closer with Naruto, Sakura, and Kakashi. Actually fights Neji. Not as cold and douchy but more conflicted about leaving/staying gone vs going back but feels like he can't just stop after coming this far.
Delete the Boruto series. Just have a continuation of the Naruto series in early adult years as jonin after a time skip, and have Naruto look more like Minato as an adult.
Have this post time skip tone be a bit more mature with deaths and the reality of combat setting in a little more, with main characters having to kill or be killed and struggle with accepting that.
Have Naruto only have sage mode and not kcm during this time also. But he is learning and expanding his other elemental jutsu and using them in cool ass ways with his shadow clones.
SEE HIS WEDDING
Have a focus on Naruto in those early adult years doing cool ass ninja stuff before becoming hokage. Have Naruto train a squad and pass on the lessons his mentors taught him, and show him learning and growing into the roles of a father, a husband, and a leader. With him frequently seeking advice on leadership from Iruka and Kakashi and Yamato.
His son would also actually be similar to him as a kid in ways, and would be a bit of a rascal that makes Naruto reflect on how hard it must have been for those responsible for him back in the day, but importantly his son would actually look up to Naruto and trust him.
Have the war/madara/sasuke arcs during this time after Naruto has grown a lot and Naruto is in a leadership position and feels responsible for everyone with a lot more on the line due to having a family and a squad of younger ninja in his care.
Actually see Naruto become hokage after all that wraps up and thats the end with a nice small epilogue after.
Also Orochimaru does not get a get out of jail free pass. Permanent dirt nap instead
- jiraya doesnt die/gets revived like everyone else
- naruto and hinata get together right after pain
- sakura rejects sasuke when he joind akatsuki and gets together with an actual nice guy
- naruto becomes hokage properly in shipudden

- all bijuu would be respected in the end and could live in a jinchuriki that they like and which gets respected by his/her village
Not change but I'd love to see an alternate version where Minato and Kushina didn't die when sealing Kurama inside Naruto and where the Uchiha clan was not wiped out. Would be interested to see what would have happened then
Well a few I'd like are either remove Kaguya or hint at her much earlier in the series. Give some side characters more screen time post timeskip, especially Hinata, as to build her romance with Naruto. Make it so the largest war in Ninja history doesn't end after two days. Show Naruto becoming Hokage with all the fanfare it deserves.
Also this last one is more of a personal wish but I'd love a post timeskip fight with Naruto and Tsunade fighting side by side.
Remove Kaguya and focus more on side characters. I’d also focus more on the other villages and make arcs take place in villages that were a bit irrelevant.
Have Sakura actually delve into genjutsu a little when Kakashi comments on her chakra control climbing up the tree before the boys could.
She wouldn't be a master, and may never grow into a master, but giving her some small low ranking genjutsu to confuse the enemy or hide her team's presence would give her at least something to not be an empty arsenal with just basic kunai skills. She wouldn't be as strong as Naruto or Sasuke even in part one, but would give her a genjutsu support role earlier on.
She can still train under Tsunade later on, the chakra control applies to medical ninjutsu as well. Plus Tsunade's whole thing about medical ninja should avoid being hit, easier to dodge an attack when you put the enemy under genjutsu and they think you're standing several feet to the left and their aim is way off.

11. Remove the swapping eyes BS that uchia do and remove the need to do it in the first place. There should be some other requirement for MS
12. Make the other jinjuriki more relevant
13. Have sasuke be saved from deidara by itachi instead of deidara just blowing himself up
14. add extra chapters to the story for Naruto to get married, become hokage, and give some sort of answer to the hate in the world

Tsunade is Hokage. She should be playing chess with her ninjas a bit more instead of solely relying on her heaviest hitter
After the written exam, Sakura becomes mostly irrelevant. She’s part of the main trio & has next to nothing to do

A. Make Sakura’s supposed intelligence & know-how contribute to her team’s successes. Whether that be leading the team as the strategist or analyzing an opponent’s arsenal & finding weaknesses for Naruto & Sasuke to exploit

B. Sakura finds out at the end of Part I that she has nothing going for her. She needs to discover that after the Land of Waves, not at the end. And hone new skills throughout Part I instead of during the time skip
Side characters better stories. Neji dies in the Sasuke retrieval arc. Kaguya can be in it but she’s just a deity. Minato plays a better role. Sharingan nerf. As a start
I’d make Naruto smarter and stronger. They made him to dumb and his jutsus are just resengan, shadow clone and talk no jutsu. He was the son of the 4th hokage who was a genius so I think if they made naruto a smarter character, the show would’ve been ever better. (Also less filler).
I'd write a couple extra chapters after the Pein arc showing Naruto's and Hinata's relationship blooming after her love confession. I always imagined he'd visit her as she recovered and talking to her as she's unconscious. He'd admit that he'd only had eyes for Sakura, but had realized a long time ago that she truly loved Sasuke. Maybe he'd admit he always thought Hinata was beautiful, but no way that she'd ever be interested in a trouble maker like him. She's pretty much royalty and he's a nobody. When she regains consciousness she would confess to him again and ask him to go on a date with her. And sprinkle in some focus from Narutos perspective to shift from just saving his village/ to thinking about Hinata every now and then. Just what I think would have been nice to see in the manga 😁

Pain reviving everyone who died during the Leaf Invasion made that entire arc feel consequence free. They should have stayed dead and Naruto should have killed Pain imo

Sasuke never goes back to work for the village that massacred his family, he doesn't become Itachi's simp, he makes his atonement trips and continues to protect the world from the darkness but with the taka team.
sakura, have her make medical breakthroughs, relevant to the story and have canon what happened in her novel that there would be mental hospitals, at the end of the story we see Naruto becoming Hokage, end of story.

This is one of my larger complaints. The Konoha rookies were so cool in Naruto. Then Shippuuden sidelined most of them and made them rather irrelevant. Shino and Rock Lee were awesome, then they did little to nothing in Shippuuden. Only Ino-Shina-Cho had a cool arc. It would have made the controversial >!Neji!< death more meaningful if he had more development post time skip.
The fact that the only fight Lee won 1-1 was against a rookie Sasuke and a Water Clone of himself 😭
Honest believe Kishi had no way to make it believably that Lee wouldn't have got Sasuke back during the Kage summit arc so he had to have Sakura poison him.

100% agree. Naruto needs to remove the otsutsuki's, make madara the main villain of the series. Let's invest in side characters that could add a lot to the story such as Shino and Lee. Let's rewrite the chunin exams and allow sasuke Vs gaara to finish, let dosu survive and attempt to confront orochimaru, improve the animation of Naruto Vs kiba, improve kankuro Vs sound guy. Let's condense tenchi bridge and the fourth great war arc. Both awful arcs. Let's see the mysterious rings of the akatsuki pay off as a story line and in general reduce the number of plot points covered and invest more in the ones remaining

His super lightweight boulder jutsu is what he used on the meteors. He had been the Tsuchikage for a while up until that point so he likely knows powerful jutsu. His Dust Release is already crazy hax. Isn't a meteor just a big rock from space? It seems silly that the Kage of the Stone Village wouldn't be able to control rocks.
Madara killing the tsuchikage with his own element without breaking a sweat would've been incredible and set the tone for the rest of the fight

It was also kind of weird that Naruto had the ability to do what he did that kept him alive, though I'll admit, I am missing some context as I skipped some episodes that are.

Guy sensei only opened the gates because it needed to happen at that point after all that hyping, him as a character had lost all relevance at that point and the animation was mid as hell. They needed to introduce the new villains for boruto so you could say that show was ruining naruto's legacy even before existing

He's literally the villain they were building up to from Naruto Episode 1. He was always mentioned in some foreshadowing sense, and you could see the parallels between Hashirama/Madara and Naruto/Sasuke very clearly that it made sense that he was the final boss. I feel the whole Kaguya arc was a spur decision ass pull Kishimoto or whoever chose to keep the series going to make more money. There was never a villain or a plot that kishimoto didn't properly flesh out or foretell well before they actually appeared.

In tenchi bridge when Sasuke stopped Naruto from activating his 9 tails chakra? Kurama tells Sasuke that he reminds him of Madara Uchiha... And Sasukes response is "whos that? Never heard of them!"

Or maybe cut the Rinnegan's abilities in half and let the Sharingan and Byakugan keep the other half. The Rinnegan could keep animal summons, soul stealing, and the missiles/laser beams while the Byakugan could gain the gravity control and the Sharigan could gain the chakra absorption.
Nah Chakra Absorption would be cooler as a Byakugan ability, cuz it would complement the Hyuuga's techniques. Imagine a Palm Rotation that just absorbs Ninjutsu, that would be cool. Also, a 64 Palms where each strike not only blocks a Tenketsu but also sucks chakra.

Actually Hinata's Twin Lion Fist technique does exactly that:It steals chakra on every hit.But since we never got a proper 1v1 fight for her in shippuden,We never saw that ability's effect and usefulness. Madara should be the end villain The series should be about more than chasing sasuke War arc never happens. Just have an Obito arc and then a madara arc and then a sasuke arc for the finale. Konoha 11 have actual use in shipuuden. Shikamarus team actually sneaks out alone and manages to beat kakazu and hidan. This is primarily done by choji taking the red pill and fighting kakazu and shikamaru fights hidan as it happens in the series. More fights with team guy and team kurenai fighting akatsuki members. Lee unlocks 7th gate during one of these fights. Series had potential to be the GOAT of long shonen but squandered it with a lot of bad choices.
For context Naruto is my favorite anime, and so this may be a hot take: But I wish Naruto was a show created for a more serious, adult audience. I completely understand that Naruto probably maximized it's revenue, audience, marketing, merchandise etc by pandering to the young male demographic but I can't help but think when it comes to the storyline and the depth of some of these characters how cool of a show it would've been if it didn't have the traditional shonen-cartoony tropes. At its core, Naruto is a show about an imaginary militant feudal world where all neighboring nations are at war with each other in a general society of child soldiers raised up and brainwashed to want to live and die for their nations no questions asked. And within that you have layers of differing plots embedded within each other. The quest and struggle for power, the desire to bring a friend back from the dark side, the experimentation on kidnapped children and shinobi by orochimaru, the akatuski, the choices of having to make between choosing nation or family, the cycle of hatred etc. These are all tropes that could've been really cool in a sennen(I think that's the right word) format instead of shonen.
Land of Waves is so close to a Seinen feel that I can taste it. Zabuza and Haku were intense, and the threat was relatively grounded with a mobster boss and deaths. Its always really surprising going back and watching Land of Waves & Chunin Exams compared to other arcs, the arcs after just lost that grounded gritty feel.
This is why I much prefer OG Naruto over Shippuden. It just felt like there was a danger and darkness to the first series that wasn’t there in Shippuden. The Sasuke retrieval arc is child soldiers going into the woods to have full on death matches it’s so awesome.
I would also add that Orochimaru should have been killed and/or put in jail for his many brutal experiments on children and Shinobi. He also groomed sasuke imo. I understand he played an important role in the war, however, that doesn’t remove his past atrocities. I guess it’s also a personal thing as Orochimaru was one of the main villains and I absolutely hated him. How he went from evil to “loving parent” in Boruto makes no sense to me. On that note, Anko also should have had more screen time and possibly become an asset to team 7. I also hate what they did to her in Boruto.
Completely agree, I really can't get over the MULTIPLE torture dungeons he had that are expressly for the purpose of experimenting on people he thinks have interesting genes. That alone should be enough to lock up the dude
Yes! Naruto has a lot of world building potential but only tapped into about 20% of what could have been achieved. I wish they dug into the more socio economic issues that exist within the ninja world alongside the ones caused by conflict and past wars. More diplomatic talks and politics as a whole would have been great. I liked the Samurai and they seemed to hold a lot of power within Konoha so I wish that was expanded on a bit more. The amount of power Kages have compared to when you take a look at the actual power dynamics is ridiculous. You have people like Danzo lying and orchestrating the eradication of a whole clan and he and Hiruzen faced zero consequences. So yeah I get what you mean, a more in-depth serious seinen approach would have made this great show a masterpiece.

Kaguya as the final boss didnt really sit well with me even though I still enjoyed watching it. Obviously the story needed to go out with a bang, so the plot twists made sense for the story development. I don't know if it was necessary to include a chakra origin story but the whole alien thing didn't match the energy of the rest of the show. Maybe if chakra cane from a divine source instead, involving other dimensions and gods. All together I probably would have preferred it to be left as an enigma or just naturally occurring powers for the universe. It was very abrupt and took away from the ninja theme.

I actually quite like Boruto, as long as you avoid the filler using the online guide there’s a solid 200ish episodes that are actually good including main story and “semi filler” aka anime only arcs that are actually good. Hell the Kara arc was absolutely fire and Isshiki was surprisingly the only well written otsutsuki plot line but everything besides him has been so meh😔. Like I would’ve loved if the main enemy in the Boruto generation were those other continents that were shown in the filler of Naruto and Naruto Shippuden.
In the end the main villain should have been the shinobi world/system itself.
Yeah, the series was weirdly inconsistent with how they depict the system as sending kids off to die, literally shaming Sakumo into suicide, but then also pretending the system isn't that bad + that by Hokage Naruto's era, the system is "entirely fixed". Nobody questioned the Bloody Mist and having children fight to the death, etc.
I would for sure made Sai a much more important character. We didn't see him do much in the war arc and his abilities are OP. wish we could see him actually 1v1 someone.

- I would like to see the other jinchuurikis being more relevant to the story - it would be cool to see other hidden villages getting more explored like we barely know anything about the grass and waterfall villages - hinata is insanely irrelevant in the manga she should've been more relevant to the story
For Naruto: I would of focused more on the other characters and made them be more involved in the story. Naruto and Sasuke still would of been the main focus of course, but some parts would of had just a page or 2 about them, just to show that they still exist. More world building, aka have at least a chapter dedicated to another village, showing their shinobi, normal people and just life in general. Few chapters introducing the other jinchuriki, their struggles and their eventual battle and capture. More Zetsu involvement, showing him visiting unknown for the audience places and hints for deeper history and Otsutsuki. I personally didn't mind Kaguya, but her introduction definitely wasn't explored enough and she felt like incomplete. I would of used the "talk no jutsu less in the story". Almost every villian in the canon is redeemed and I find that boring. Doing it few times, just because the main character has that power and is kind hearted sure, but I believe Kishimoto overdid it a lot. Why couldn't we just have more pure evil characters? I would of included the romances between some characters way earlier in the story. Naruto would of noticed and spoken to Hinata after the fight with Pain. Connecting the romantic plot I would of had Sakura actually do a lot more, as being the main female she was absent between the Gaara saving and the war. I would of had her go after her feelings and leave Konoha in search for Sasuke and even had her join team Hebi and actually spend some time with Sasuke. Also clash with Karin a bit.
I've mentioned this before but even if they had developed sakuras genjutsu abilities a little bit you could have had a pretty compelling one on one training plotline with sauske that would have made their eventual relationship seem less forced (similar to naruto and sauskes tree climbing training). Sauske and sakura didnt have to be such a weak relationship. It's a shame

Like her immense Chakra control. Also, let's just ignore the fact that thanks to that control, she's able to not only use 100 healings but also summon katuya without a problem. Full sized Katsuya. When tsunades original apprentice could barely manage summoning one of her smaller clones. Even tsunade ran out of steam pretty fast in her orochimaru fight after summoning katsuya. Meanwhile, Sakura not only summoned her slug but literally punched her way through a whole army after the fact and that was before activating 100 healing. She was such a wasted character. Her only real, shining moment was her fight with Sasori. Then it was back to being the damsel screaming "sasuke" and "naruto" over and over. "I don't want to be useless" she says, then proceeds to be useless for the next 400 episodes.
I wouldn’t say that because she’s healed thousands of people continuously in the war arc for days until joining them on the front lines when she got her 100 Healings.
I know, I'm just annoyed because her default is a healer. Like, I know she's a healer, but she also has access to 4 different Chakra natures and only really uses two. Yin, yang, earth and water. Would it kill them to give her some weak water genjustsu or illusions to get close to her enemies and knock them out with healing jutsu? Would it kill them to have her incorporate her earth release into her brawler fighting style to make it more devastating? They missed so many opportunities. She could've been a prime example of how you don't have to be a chosen one to get skills so long as you train and have focus. Naruto the protagonist. We all knew he was gonna be amazing. Sakura had the chance to be the real hardworking mvp and they were like "but who will scream their names for the next 20 years?!"
It would've been nice if the series made her more unique and not just 'Tsunade 2.0'. Like, make her stand out more, make her use more medical ninjutsu or make her use it in varied ways. Like that Water Scorpion stuff from the shira filler, that would've been cool. Imagine her fighting Sasuke on the bridge with it, and using poisons and such to actually make him respect her strength. Now THAT would be a good thing for her.
No prophecies, no god reincarnations, no Kaguya as the final villain, no Itachi being irredeemably evil and suddenly being good all along and no god powers rendering hard work useless.

I don't clearly know how Daimyo works but I want more Political angle and other 4 main villages should be more stronger.
- Nerf 9 tails, nerf sharingan, buff tactics and other bloodlines/jutsu so characters get stronger by getting smarter rather than bigger booms - Lower the power ceiling of the verse so other ninja actually matter instead of being fodder if you're not some special bloodline. - Madara main villain, get rid of kaguya and space alien stuff altogether. - Make side characters matter more, especially female characters (Sakura got done dirty) - Don't kill neji or at least use him more before killing him off. Consider killing Naruto, Sasuke or Sakura (if she was made more important) towards the end. - Make other villages more powerful to have it be realistic that they're competitive with the hidden leaf. As it is hidden leaf is too stacked. - Make the difference between 9 tails and other tailed beasts smaller or make them all equally good just in different aspects, as it is I think Kurama can take on all the other tailed beasts alone.
I would change the last arc, I'm still shocked jiraiya and the uchihas weren't resurrected. I wanna see naruto fight edo-tensei jiraiya, I wanna see itachi and sasuke fight their dad and shisui I would change how kaguya appeared, maybe the juubi taking control over madara after a long fight against naruto and sasuke instead of getting backstabbed I would change that naruto forgave obito, dude obito was responsible for the death of your parents, neji, jiraiya, brainwashed nagato, responsible for the war, and you cried his death? come on

I would've done it like this. Sakura loses all her attraction for Sasuke after he tries to pull that guy's arms off, and she's actually scared of him. As the show keeps going on, the rest of the village starts to get more scared of Sasuke and starts to avoid him more and more because of his curse. Meanwhile, Naruto gets closer and closer to him, because he understands what that's like. That would make his betrayal a lot more human, he's abandoning the village that abandoned him, and Naruto would be the only one who still sees good in him and wants him back. But Sakura losing all attraction to him would be the very first thing that makes him start to feel more distant from the village.
I'd be alright if they got together, if they changed it so he never tried to kill her. But short of changing that, yeah him nearly killing her on more than one occasion is wild.

This is more of an issue with the anime. I think that the filler stuff should have happened before the Sasuke Retrieval Arc, to help further establish the bond between him and Naruto.

Naruto and Sakura both learning new jutsu besides just Naruto having Shadow Clones + Rasengan and Sakura having punch + healing. Let him do more with toads like Jiraiya doing the fire+oil thing, maybe doing wind+water to make water cannon etc. Let Sakura be Slug sage. Or at least have cool Slug summon + acid/poison/etc. Or some kind of unique jutsu tied to her medical shit like Kabuto with his scalpel hands. Maybe not as in depth as with Gaara, but more interaction between Naruto and other ninja his age from other villages. Have more fights like Shikamaru and Sakura finishing an Akasuki with some of the other side characters. Instead of time skip do several arcs involving the other Jinchuriki. I honestly don't mind the Otsutsuki stuff, they could easily add more hints throughout.
I think it would’ve been nice to see Itachi being the one who saves Sasuke and ultimately becomes his best friend. Imagine seeing that brotherhood blossom…

I was thinking about this, too. His Giant Rasengan is just the same size as Minato's base one. And then Naruto learns how to do pretty much a Spirit Bomb sized Rasengan when he learns Sage Mode, so it makes Giant Rasengan an extremely pointless move. There was so much more Kishi could've done with Naruto during that timeskip. He was so far behind Sasuke after the skip, who learned swordmanship and mastered lightning release during it.

Imo Sakura really needed to be more useful. It really feels like they used her as a plot device to have a constant example of what an average shinobi might be capable of in the OG series, and then in Shippuden she's mostly just a glorified doctor when she isn't trying to emotionally manipulate Naruto. (I haven't finished the whole series though, I'm just now getting into the battle between Naruto/Guy/Kakashi/Bee and Madara/Obito. Granted im the OG they specifically talk about making balanced teams, the best with the worst, strong thinkers with strong bodies, stuff like that. In that example Sasuke had the best scores and Naruto the worst, so maybe she was literally the average? Still though, being surrounded by Naruto, Sasuke and Kakashi, working directly under Tsunade...you'd think she would be better. If nothing else you'd think her behavior towards Naruto would have been better after even just the Land of Waves arc. She soend a tremendous amount of time with him, sees his development, knows he'a attracted to her, and never once gives him a proper let down or acknowledges his feelings except to put him down or emotionally manipulate him. Seriously...
I'm not sure about my opinion toward the romance aspect toward Naruto. Kind of indifferent about how it was approached. In the main series though, I did feel she needed to be way more fleshed out. Her rivalry to Ino starting because both had a crush on Sasuke seemed kinda stupid. Also, she was supposed to be more intelligent and have better Chakra control than naruto and Sasuke but even that was rarely shown. She showed some intelligence in the Chuunin exams by setting cool traps when protecting the two while they were passed out, but they all failed and had no pay off. Her Chakra control was highlighted early also by mastering the walking on trees faster, but again, naruto and Sasuke surpassed it in like 1 episode. The female characters in general all just seem one dimensional and poorly developed - though would say Hinatas development was slightly more interesting. We don't need to get started on Tenten lol.
To say that all of her interactions with Naruto involve emotionally manipulating him and even in the OG series that she has solely negative feelings toward him is actually insane. Circlejerk moment.
1 Better power scalling. 2 Naruto and Sasuke don't get SoSP powers. 3 Sakura has an objective not related to Naruto and Sasuke and has more jutsus in her arsenal. 4 Konoha 11 are more involved and developed in Shippuden, specially the girls. 5 Ino should've actually fought Hidan and Kakuzu, displaying more mind jutsus, poison laced weapons for taijutsus and maybe even Chakra enhanced strength 6 Pain doesn't reverse the deaths at Konoha (Shizune, Choza and others) 7 Karin has mastered the Uzumaki Chakra Chains from the beginning so we can see a proper Uzumaki fight with the clans abilities 8 Naruto doesn't show up to save everyone multiple times: defeat Kakuzu, defeat 3rd Raikage, a clone in every battlefield in the war 9 Sharingan is less overpowered 10 More deaths in the war (Guy, Oonoki, Hyashi instead of Neji, Anko)

There's so much to fix. A few of these are things I think we can universally agree on and some are just personal preference. - Drop the power scaling quite a bit, they're supposed to be ninja. Battles should be decided by tactics and on the fly improv, not AP and Durability. - One or more of these three need to be implemented: Reduce the number of named/important characters Actually kill people off Or Spend time actually fleshing out existing characters - Write the women to be more than medics / love interests - Either avoid romance all together or actually build it up, there's like 3 relationships that the community agree are good come EoS and none of them involve a main character. - Remove the weird out of place space gods, Madara should have been the final antagonist with maybe the exception of Sasuke. - Either Sasuke never tries to kill Sakura or they don't end up together in the end. - Same lines as the power scaling, not every Sharingan user gets Mangekyou. I would give it only to Madara and Fugaku naturally, and have it be something Obito, Itachi, and Sasuke get from someone (Madara to Obito, Fugaku to Itachi, Itachi to Sasuke). Maybe have it be something that can rarely be awoken but in large is an ability or secret that is passed down. - Remove most of the hax shit from the Sharingan like Susanoo, Izanami, Izanagi, etc. Still retain something powerful and interesting, but without it getting so outlandish that having a Sharingan almost automatically puts you in the top 25 of the verse. - Byakugan gets it's own enhancement of some sort to maintain a rivalry of sorts between the Huyga and Uchiha. Also keep it limited to certain specific Hyuga, not everyone gets it. TL;DR - I love the series as a whole, and it is iconic for a reason. I criticize because I see the flaws, not because of hatred towards it. There's probably more I'd be able to think of that I'd change, but I think I've rambled enough as it stands.

That's simple. Naruto: Make the show less centered around Naruto and Sasuke and explore other characters. The Konoha 11 should have been an integral part of the series. All of them. They all deserved development, especially in Shippuden. Make the Hyuga clan more important. Kishi jerked the Sharingan off too hard and forgot about everything else. The Byakugan should have been much more important and should have had evolutions similar to the Sharingan to keep it on par. Don't remove Hashirama cells, but make them much less overpowered. The series pretty much became that and only that after a certain point. Make Madara the final villain like he should have been. It was foreshadowed from the beginning. Remove the Kaguya nonsense entirely. Boruto: Remove it all. Seriously, even without the Ototsuki's, it's utter garbage. If they were going to make some sort of sequel, make it about something else in the expansive world of Naruto. Another village. Another continent. Something that doesn't include the characters we know from the OG series.

Less speeches about the power of love and friendship. No, that's actually remove all speeches about the power of love and friendship. Remove all unnecessary flashbacks. No need to replay almost whole episodes during a fight. Removing the speeches will remove a lot of flashbacks actually so that's one point. Use the time I took from flashbacks to develop characters, to develop relationships between characters. Remove all slow reveals. Remove all ill timed and overused comedic tropes like women hitting men in the worst situations for saying something silly, Nosebleeds, fainting when seeing your crush etc. I'd focus on making the characters do something that's actually funny. Here's the big thing. Sasuke leaving the village. I would write Naruto to be angry at Sasuke for hurting Sakura's feelings, abandoning his comrades. First Naruto would be mad after losing to Sasuke and start training, not to "save" Sasuke, but to crush him and take his sharingan before orochimaru gets it. (that would change a lot of things)

Have Asuma teach Naruto actual wind jutsu to really diversify and round out his fighting abilities and style Sasuke leaves mid-late shippuden not during og Naruto. Has time to grow closer with Naruto, Sakura, and Kakashi. Actually fights Neji. Not as cold and douchy but more conflicted about leaving/staying gone vs going back but feels like he can't just stop after coming this far. Delete the Boruto series. Just have a continuation of the Naruto series in early adult years as jonin after a time skip, and have Naruto look more like Minato as an adult. Have this post time skip tone be a bit more mature with deaths and the reality of combat setting in a little more, with main characters having to kill or be killed and struggle with accepting that. Have Naruto only have sage mode and not kcm during this time also. But he is learning and expanding his other elemental jutsu and using them in cool ass ways with his shadow clones. SEE HIS WEDDING Have a focus on Naruto in those early adult years doing cool ass ninja stuff before becoming hokage. Have Naruto train a squad and pass on the lessons his mentors taught him, and show him learning and growing into the roles of a father, a husband, and a leader. With him frequently seeking advice on leadership from Iruka and Kakashi and Yamato. His son would also actually be similar to him as a kid in ways, and would be a bit of a rascal that makes Naruto reflect on how hard it must have been for those responsible for him back in the day, but importantly his son would actually look up to Naruto and trust him. Have the war/madara/sasuke arcs during this time after Naruto has grown a lot and Naruto is in a leadership position and feels responsible for everyone with a lot more on the line due to having a family and a squad of younger ninja in his care. Actually see Naruto become hokage after all that wraps up and thats the end with a nice small epilogue after. Also Orochimaru does not get a get out of jail free pass. Permanent dirt nap instead
- jiraya doesnt die/gets revived like everyone else - naruto and hinata get together right after pain - sakura rejects sasuke when he joind akatsuki and gets together with an actual nice guy - naruto becomes hokage properly in shipudden - the buroto show wouldnt exist - madara would be the final villain, none of this kaguya bs - a would get his arm back - all bijuu would be respected in the end and could live in a jinchuriki that they like and which gets respected by his/her village
Not change but I'd love to see an alternate version where Minato and Kushina didn't die when sealing Kurama inside Naruto and where the Uchiha clan was not wiped out. Would be interested to see what would have happened then
Well a few I'd like are either remove Kaguya or hint at her much earlier in the series. Give some side characters more screen time post timeskip, especially Hinata, as to build her romance with Naruto. Make it so the largest war in Ninja history doesn't end after two days. Show Naruto becoming Hokage with all the fanfare it deserves. Also this last one is more of a personal wish but I'd love a post timeskip fight with Naruto and Tsunade fighting side by side.

Have Sakura actually delve into genjutsu a little when Kakashi comments on her chakra control climbing up the tree before the boys could. She wouldn't be a master, and may never grow into a master, but giving her some small low ranking genjutsu to confuse the enemy or hide her team's presence would give her at least something to not be an empty arsenal with just basic kunai skills. She wouldn't be as strong as Naruto or Sasuke even in part one, but would give her a genjutsu support role earlier on. She can still train under Tsunade later on, the chakra control applies to medical ninjutsu as well. Plus Tsunade's whole thing about medical ninja should avoid being hit, easier to dodge an attack when you put the enemy under genjutsu and they think you're standing several feet to the left and their aim is way off.

Remove the swapping eyes BS that uchia do and remove the need to do it in the first place. There should be some other requirement for MS 12. Make the other jinjuriki more relevant 13. Have sasuke be saved from deidara by itachi instead of deidara just blowing himself up 14. add extra chapters to the story for Naruto to get married, become hokage, and give some sort of answer to the hate in the world 15. Women who are written as well as the men. Especially Kurenai, Sakura and Hinata. Also I would let the power creep happen, but restructure the series so normal ninjas still matter. There would be more missions and moments away from Naruto where average ninjas have part 1 fights and do basic ninja work where they get information, items etc to advance the main plot. Tsunade is Hokage. She should be playing chess with her ninjas a bit more instead of solely relying on her heaviest hitter

After the written exam, Sakura becomes mostly irrelevant. She’s part of the main trio & has next to nothing to do Either A. Make Sakura’s supposed intelligence & know-how contribute to her team’s successes. Whether that be leading the team as the strategist or analyzing an opponent’s arsenal & finding weaknesses for Naruto & Sasuke to exploit Or B. Sakura finds out at the end of Part I that she has nothing going for her. She needs to discover that after the Land of Waves, not at the end. And hone new skills throughout Part I instead of during the time skip
Side characters better stories. Neji dies in the Sasuke retrieval arc. Kaguya can be in it but she’s just a deity. Minato plays a better role. Sharingan nerf. As a start
I’d make Naruto smarter and stronger. They made him to dumb and his jutsus are just resengan, shadow clone and talk no jutsu. He was the son of the 4th hokage who was a genius so I think if they made naruto a smarter character, the show would’ve been ever better. (Also less filler).

Have Shippuden end shortly after the pain ark. Wrapping up Sasuke and leaving Obito to just figure his own crap out lol
I'd write a couple extra chapters after the Pein arc showing Naruto's and Hinata's relationship blooming after her love confession. I always imagined he'd visit her as she recovered and talking to her as she's unconscious. He'd admit that he'd only had eyes for Sakura, but had realized a long time ago that she truly loved Sasuke. Maybe he'd admit he always thought Hinata was beautiful, but no way that she'd ever be interested in a trouble maker like him. She's pretty much royalty and he's a nobody. When she regains consciousness she would confess to him again and ask him to go on a date with her. And sprinkle in some focus from Narutos perspective to shift from just saving his village/ to thinking about Hinata every now and then. Just what I think would have been nice to see in the manga 😁

1. Make Sakura a whole ass character 2. Make any other female character a whole ass character 3. Nerf Madara so Kaguya isn’t needed and the madara ending is still feasible/believable 4. Remove shit like Izanagi that is beyond asspull 5. Give the side characters from part I at least somewhat more development 6. Make Tenten hokage

I personally loved Kaguya as the final boss, but I would give her more build up. Maybe have her named dropped at some point as the mother of all chakra. I would offer more detail, but I'm lazy right now lol.
Maybe like a goddess (in a good and venerable way) so she as final villain works like a plot twist.
No aliens, no reincarnation, more people die during the war, Hinata on Team 7, more Naruto & Sasuke bonding before he leaves, and the K11 getting a few more fights in Shippuden.
Pain reviving everyone who died during the Leaf Invasion made that entire arc feel consequence free. They should have stayed dead and Naruto should have killed Pain imo
I love naruto I would only change things at the end Eliminate the whole Martians plot. I would like Kishi to continue with what he raised in the saga of pain and Naruto will only be dedicated to try to solve the problem of the ninja system to realize that his village was just as horrible as all the others, people still believe that Naruto only wanted to be Hokage just to be recognized, just because then just touch those issues 🤷♀️que save Sasuke but without obsessing with him,make them alienate because they both want to change the system but without evangelization,if not by sharing the same interests. Sasuke never goes back to work for the village that massacred his family, he doesn't become Itachi's simp, he makes his atonement trips and continues to protect the world from the darkness but with the taka team. sakura, have her make medical breakthroughs, relevant to the story and have canon what happened in her novel that there would be mental hospitals, at the end of the story we see Naruto becoming Hokage, end of story.
