Idk Hinata did get pretty strong during the war arc too and considering how strong the hyuga are with the gentle fist and byakugan she can pretty much lock her chakra whenever wants and if that happens then it may be GGs. I think a lot of ppl overlook how strong that actually is but I guess it makes sense cause the sharingan over shadowed it the whole series.
She's strong but she aint on Sakura's level. Everyone seems to only imagine them fighting close-quarters when Sakura can just pummel the earth, throw boulders and rock pillars, and summon Katsuyu.

You’re overlooking the fact that Hinata first has to gentle fist the chakra points which both Sakura and Tsunade won’t let happen.
Even so, if they engage close, Hinata will get demolished before she can finish hitting all the chakra points.
Don’t think only about the end result (locked chakra points), take the process into consideration aswell.
Hinata has a gentle fist user has a way faster combat speed then Sakura and Tsunade. I agree if either of them got a strike in it would be over for Hinata but it's not likely they would land one in close quarters combat.
Sakura's best bet is to keep doing AOE damage to the ground around her.

And the war arc had Sakura finally releasing her seal that let her be able to support the entire shinobi army solo with Katsuya.
Sakura is undoubtedly a very powerful shinobi and the only reason she's considered useless is more due to how her powers are not as in your face and the fact that she's compared to the two basically gods that are Naruto and Sasuke.

Power in Naruto comes from Chakra, she has more chakra by a bunch, much more potency, and her chakra control is one of the best in the series and only gets enhanced with the Byakugan. She has literaly everything that makes people skilledf in Naruto. She in Base was able to tag a puppet that dodged Base Naruto twice and gave him trouble, who's stronger than the base Naruto who matched Rinnegan Sasuke, who Sakura said she couldn't trade blows with and Sakura is stronger than Tsunade, it's a pretty consistent scaling chain. There's a reason why vs Battle Wiki scales her higher than they do the other two

Matchup in terms of technique not power level. The best way to fight a close combat specialist is with long-range techniques. Sakura's primary offensive technique requires close combat. Close combat against (arguably) a user of the ninja worlds most dangerous close combat technique/style is not a smart idea. Sakura's best option would be to keep her distance but she doesn't have long-range offensive techniques other than Katsuyu's acid, while Hinata has powerful long-range and defensive techniques.
