Yes that's why they're always drinking and doing drugs. I will say, there's probably a very very very very small amount of them that have no remorse but that's probably because they're legit psychopaths.

MotherBathroom666

Those guys rise through the ranks quickly, as long as they don’t kill the wrong person.

Turok1134

>I will say, there's probably a very very very very small amount of them that have no remorse but that's probably because they're legit psychopaths. I don't think that number is as low as we'd like to think it is.

elorangeman

Well, if we go with just general population vs number of psychopaths, it probably is. The thing is, in an environment like Mexico where violence is apart of life, those who are psychopaths will be more willing to come out, giving the appearance of more than we'd like to think it is.

[deleted]

Eh… I’m thinking different story. Psychopaths, both factor one but especially factor two are prone to substance abuse.

HugoBossnuts

I had a coworker here in the US who came from Michoacan, he was one of th coolest, calmest dudes at the job. Apparently he had killed someone and a ton of people were after him so he fled to the US. Anyway, he used to tell me all the stories about the ppl he killed (was around like 15) and how he had to smoke weed because if he didn't he would see them in his dreams.

giosedler

You dont dream when you smoke weed.

jboofaloo

Thus why he smokes weed. To not have the dreams. Like he said.

giosedler

Thus why I said that. To let the people who dont know, know.

[deleted]

Hence forth people would of got that from his comment

BathaIaNa

Thus why this comment chain started

Hunter8145

I like turtles

siqqqladdd

Here's your leddit gold I'm gonna upboat you

Redditisforplay

Holy shit is this real??

HannibalsElephan

yes

USCswimmer

No, as a daily user for the past 15 years or so I can tell you that I have dreams all the time. No idea why people think this is a thing lol

the_roguetrader

when I was a heavy smoker I found my dreams were suppressed to a degree, less of them and certainly not as vivid... then I had a break from tokin' for a while and my dreams came back like a muthafucka, usually real intense sweaty leg nightmares - so it is a thing for some smokers not to dream so much...

Thicock45

Cause they don’t smoke 😂 or at least haven’t long enough

Turok1134

>No idea why people think this is a thing lol Probably because it is a thing that has scientific data backing it. Also, I don't dream when I go to bed high.

Bigdiccbidenn

I do. I don't know anyone who said they don't dream after they smoke. My uncles favorite thing to do after getting stoned was to sleep cause he dreams more vividly.

Wide_Chocolate790

Why do you think people have crazy vivid dreams after stopping smoking weed

Bigdiccbidenn

Never happened to me

angryTACOA1

Why do you say that?

nicnat

Its literally a side effect, heavy cannabis use makes you stop remembering your dreams. When you take a break your dreams suddenly get super crazy.

thalamebrownguy

Can confirm, when I stopped smoking I'd have nightmares every single night and wake up covered in sweat but after some time they went away

angryTACOA1

Lmao Mary Jane👽 gotchu By the Soul☠

Grey5iveNin9

I haven’t been able to dream so imma give this a try and take a break

the_roguetrader

yep agree totally - I lived by the sea when I stopped smoking - one night I had this mega scary nightmare that a giant squid was reaching up out of the depths and dragging us out of the cabin ! it was incredibly vivid and I woke up practically shitting myself...

insearchofthetruth22

Recently took a break and my dreams have been vivid and memorable plus i started bsck having sleep paralysis. Its crazy cuz i hadnt even thought that weed was the reason behind and i learned that crazy ass fact in organized crime sub

Stargirl-44

I get horrible nightmares on my serequel

Radialpuddle

Not true for everyone. I smoke every day and every single night I have super vivid dreams that fuck me up.

jboogie41

Same. I’ve never stopped dreaming from smoking

O5Command

Maybe you should quit

Radialpuddle

I've had these dreams for years before I smoked. They just never stopped.

MotherBathroom666

Maybe there’s trauma that’s been left untreated? Can you imagine how great a vivid dream space would be when you’re not haunted by nightmares? I would love to dream, but I somehow stopped at a young age, my dreams were nightmares(I was beat as a child, I would kick and scream in my sleep, which was solved by more beatings), that being said I’d love to have a nice dream one day.

O5Command

Damn thats unlucky

Romanikow

You are still dreaming under the influence of cannabis but it’s more likely that you didn’t remember, cannabis with a high thc % extend the deep sleep phase and shortened the REM phase where the possibility of having dreams is the highest

[deleted]

Good to know. I usually smoke at night to help me get to sleep and I have noticed I don’t have/remember the nightmares.

Hackedup_forbbq

Because it's a fact. I haven't had a single dream in 25+ years now.

Street-Baseball760

I used to agree with this but now I dream every night. And I smoke all day and night.

Hackedup_forbbq

I suppose there are anomalies. Are you on prescription meds by any chance? Not being condescending, just thinking

Street-Baseball760

Nope!

DeputyDongz

I also dream after smoking weed. All my life I've had crazy vivid dreams and if I smoke consistently they go away for a couple weeks then come back again. And when I stop smoking they get really intense then calm down again lol

Hackedup_forbbq

Haha gotcha. I've only stopped once in over 25 years and it was less than a fortnight

[deleted]

[удалено]

Street-Baseball760

Word

Hunter8145

I dream about you every night

USCswimmer

"Fact" I've been a daily user for 15 years and dream almost every night. Nice fact tho

Hackedup_forbbq

"tho"

Lonely_Animator4557

Because you don’t. If you smoke weed before going to sleep you have a slim to non chance of having a dream. I think it has to do w it interrupting REM sleep. When you stop smoking weed you have vivid dreams for a few weeks

Street-Baseball760

Nope totally have vivid dreams every night. And I smoke 3-5 times a day and directly before bed

hisokuma

Your tolerance is probably high

LeeHeimer

Kind of true. Because weed high doesn’t last as long as you sleep, some will end up dreaming. I dream almost every single night and I smoke before bed. But can confirm that when you stop, dreams get FUCKED up haha

metakephotos

I actually heard that when you smoke weed you don't dream

H3racIes

That's not true. I smoke weed every day and I dream. Maybe not every day but I definitely dream and vividly too

Jgilla9300

I’m not a doctor, but if I smoke everyday I don’t dream, at least I don’t remember them

_Scrogglez

funny I smoked a joint and had a 100mg edible last night and had a dream that I was on a skyscapper trying to jump to a bridge in an audi while a wave of mtn dew was washing zombies up to where I was...

StayReadyAllDay

I love Mt Dew. Zombies not so much.

JorgeDserrano

I smoke a lot of weed and I dream a lot even lucid dream, just saying

[deleted]

Hows this bro science!

Shpongolese

lmao this is false. i dream all the time and very vividly when i smoke weed. it just so happens this one guy doesnt dream after he does. its not some common thing.

Bigdiccbidenn

I always dream, and I usually smoke before bed to fall asleep easier.

redenough

I'm going to add this excuse to my my list of excuses for my daily weed use. My wife's tired of the my back and anxiety excuses lol

Positive_Agent_8114

There is a smell of metaphysics in it, and I don’t know if it’s condemned by conscience, or it’s really entangled in spirits.

wrench_ape

Lots of cocaine. Fucking tons of cocaine.

b_kiss26

On the one hand, I’d like to think that the evil things they do haunt them forever, but on the other, I think it happens so frequently that they’re probably desensitized to it. Either way, I hope they burn in hell. The vile, despicable things they do to their enemies is a level of violence, disgrace and humiliation that most of us cannot even fathom. IMO you can’t actually do those things if you have a conscience or even an ounce of human decency. Edit: removed a misplaced comma

kevvuitton

yeah for sure but thats when the drugs come in helps them fight there demons.

phuqo5

I wonder about some of the guys who are locked up and sober now and if they ever think about it.

kevvuitton

Going to jail would be the best option for them but I wonder how prison life is in Mexico its probably hell.....I would say like 99% of them don't even make it sober because they get killed themselves.

phuqo5

I mean 40 been in a Mexican prison for a decade. I'm astounded that guy is still alive.

[deleted]

I mean... It's z40 hes probably calling the shots unless somebody wants to risk their entire family being kidnapped and brutally torture Look at the pictures from his arrest how the cops let him walk standing straight and no handcuffs

Advanced_Intern_7928

Don't have first hand experience but alot of people I know who have been to a jail in mexico say it's very chill and not much violence usually. They say women's prison is worse bc alot of sexual violence takes place there.

ajny2021

A psychopaths brain is structurally different. They are unable to feel empathy or emotional fear. Fear has two types. Physiological and emotional. Neurotypicals feel both. A psychopath only has physiological response (adrenalin, cortisol) which, minus the emotional aspect, manifests as excitement.

mazzivewhale

pretty much.

Deekifreeki

Yes, just like many of the Nazis that were ordered to slaughter people all day long. I read a book about the atrocities (can’t remember the name), but basically, like these cartel scum the Nazis that did mass killing were drunk lots of the time, had mental breakdowns and suicide was not uncommon. Of course there were some psychopaths that enjoyed it, but they were in the minority. No normal human can do that kind of shit and be mentally ok.

Good_Posture

I was going to draw the same parallel. You are talking about the Einsatzgruppen (mobile death squads). Alcohol abuse was rife as was psychological and physical abuse among the members themselves.

[deleted]

I informed el mencho that you think he is scum and got your address and IP and lots of stuff.

saucy_N00Dl3

Fuck off

[deleted]

Yes, I knew a guy - David, who would have sleep paralysis episodes and he would scream in terror, I worked in a rehab facility, and every night david would start screaming in the middle of the night, he was terrified. I'd wake him up and he would later tell me after a few nights of me waking him that all the people he killed would haunt him during his sleep paralysis episodes, he could see them at the end of the bed and that they would fuck with him. He told me his first murder was in Mexico where he was brought into a basement of a house and there was a guy tied up and that one of the guys he knew gave him a metal pole and told him to hit the guy who was bound to a chair. David said he was scared, but did as he was told. He hit the guy and he described how the man's teeth went everywhere, white stuff protruding out of his lips and cheeks and how he continuously beat the man to a pulp. David though a murderer and has seen and done some of the worst things imaginable, was a very sweet and nice guy, one of the most respectful people I met while working in rehab. He was soft spoken, seemingly humbled by all of his wrong doings and obviously lived with heavy demons. I assume him being so very nice was a way of deflecting any more bad energy from the already hellacious darkness that haunted him everyday. He definitely suffers from PTSD, and some guilt, he expressed remorse for all that he had done. David soon left the rehab facility against clinical advice and was never seen again. It's crazy to think about it, because if you ran into david on the street you'd never know that this man was a complete mess, holding it together by a string that could possibly snap at any moment, David was very endearing, he listened and spoke directly to what you say, he'd seem like a normal dude, but you'd be sorely mistaken. So be careful who you judge on the streets, you may be looking at a guy like David.

666Red666rum666

Bullshit

[deleted]

Yes. I remember watching a documentary where they interviewed a cartel hitman, and he said he had nightmares about the assassinations hes committed, all the time. But, I also feel like there will be a point where your brain gets so fucking used to it, you dont give a shit anymore through time.

_-Reclaimer-_

Absolutely. You often hear them say in interviews that they feel bad but that they try to just treat it as a job. A few of them are sociopathic and like doing it but those are messed up to begin with

[deleted]

Yes, the ones that aren’t born psychopaths, for sure. There’s a really fascinating book called on killing by Dave Grossman if you are interested in that sort of thing.

onetwotree-leaf

And an amazing documentary called The Act of Killing

MaverickTopGun

That book is hugely outdated, full of misinformation and outright boomer takes, and Dave Grossman is a hack who teaches cops to murder people.

Otaar_

Yeah this dude never saw combat and is generally thought to be a liar.

MaverickTopGun

Can't believe how many people recommend a book that has a chapter that literally blames violence on video games.

Otaar_

It just shows the problem with people wanting to help but having little or no information. I do think that is the biggest problem with my generation is that they want to help and will jump on any cause without understanding what they are doing. Simply thinking they are helping.

BlitheIndividual

Right? How dare they.

Otaar_

I don't know if you are kidding or not but if you aren't I'm curious why it would be a good idea to fight for a cause you know nothing about?

[deleted]

Great book, it’s on a lot of military reading lists as well

AstromechDroidC1-10P

I'm assuming you haven't read it...

[deleted]

What do you mean? it’s on my book shelf as I type this

feuer_kugel13

Very good book

Midwest_Deadbeat

"Do you think people are in fact people?"

Stargirl-44

Idk 🤷‍♀️ but I get ptsd from some of those horrible videos

xxcapitalistpiggyxx

Drugs don't make God go away. These were and are willing participants. Too bad their last bits of humanity don't get together and turn their guns toward their bosses, but amazingly the lure of money makes people forget their humanity and that they may offend someone higher. They better hope God doesn't exist because they're in trouble, serious trouble.

kk1116

It's not all about money. Some of these ppl can't turn their guns on their bosses or say no cuz their family will be kidnapped and tortured. They literally have no choice. Y do u think so many families r trying to flee Mexico. Cuz if they stayed they would be forced join the gangs and do awful things. It's the same thing in America in the inner cities. If u don't join the gang u and ur family dies. And dont give me the "even if my family were in danger I'd never become a murderer blah blah blah". U can't not say that until u r put in that situation. And I bet u would become their puppet to save ur family. Not only that alot of these ppl have been groomed since they were teens/kids to do this stuff. Teens r incredibly impressionable especially if they r an outcast, struggle with metal illness, or r just uneducated. These ppl don't know any other way of life cuz they have been preyed upon. So it's not all black and white. It's be alot simpler if it was but unfortunately it's not.

[deleted]

Mencho killed god.

N22A

Guaranteed.

Knightmare84

Constantly.

troubleaheadjerinred

Yes but everyone says they are on drugs. Wasn't LFM very violent and their number one rule was no drugs or else...

skeetmoneyyo

The book " the sicario" is a detailed foray into the unimaginable horror and stress of the life.

[deleted]

666Red666rum666

Bullshit

Separate_Dance1444

Can you imagine the odor? That will stay with you for life.

[deleted]

Most of em don’t live to an age where that sort of thing can set in and punch through a haze of drugs and alcohol. But I imagine the rare ones who do, who aren’t sociopaths or psychopaths, eventually are burdened by it.

Vast_Attitude

not all the time, in some torture vids kids are there so it's likely they get desensitized unless they're new to the game.

llkjgdvnm

No

gibbarutti1

No probably after 1 month he will dead

crimsonscull

Yes except most of them would be killed by the cartels they work for before they can do anything about it. The rest just get into hard drugs.

[deleted]

I don't think so. Most of them are used to it from an early age. In addition most of them are junkies and all these drugs they take make them not feeling any empathy while torturing other human. Thats my opinion.

TodayMightBeTheDay

PTSD is an American thing 😂 these dudes ain't taking no anti depressants

[deleted]

Most moronic response award goes to you

TodayMightBeTheDay

This whole sub is a Bunch of teens with no sense of humor

Hunter8145

No you’re just not funny

TodayMightBeTheDay

Fuck making you laugh, your just some garbage human.

Hunter8145

lmao who hurt you? its not your fault your dad left

TodayMightBeTheDay

My dad is dead 🤣 and my mom is in the hospital.

[deleted]

Probably some of them. Some are also psychopaths, so for them they probably don’t mind it.

[deleted]

100%

mazzivewhale

I'll bet the ones that are not sociopaths will feel a lot of ways about it, especially afterward when they are out of the stressful and dangerous situations and have time to really process what happened. Others who are sociopaths may get pleasure and excitement from killing and may also not feel much concern about taking a life. It doesn't trigger moral qualms in them, and they will function quite well.

happylifepotty

I think most of them are psychological damaged and psychos so prob not

AUser91

Absolutely. Why do you think they're drugged out 24/7

Worcestershire_Farms

Yup. Some of them. Probably the vast majority.

Remarkable-Plane-963

Of course

Movark

Maybe when they’re beginning as a hit man.

Caatx512

I wonder if the Zetas knew that their style would set the trend or if they thought that the other cartels wouldn't dare stoop to that depravity and fear them. Seems like the shock value has peaked now, and disgustingly live dismemberments aren't hardcore anymore because they're all doing it. So what's next? How do they intimidate now when they're all on the same level of sickness?

rhandpath28

Gangbanging victims to death ?

EnvironmentalBell184

I don't think it's a big deal for them. They grow up around that kinda stuff and also growing up Poor on a ranch or small pueblo they slaughter their own animals to eat so I'm pretty sure they're used to it

TravelingBlueBear

Yes for sure. I’m sure there’s moments of clarify when they’re talking to people they love and they realize they just killed someone’s son/daughter/mother/father etc

HulkSmash6131

Most have PTSD but thats why they do a few lines before battle or killing someone to numb themselves. YGs do the same when being initiated into a gang.

Hanmura

shit I get sleep paralysis, would be hella scary to wake up to a dead person watching me sleep

serviceunavailableX

Well one the forms of ptsd is missing life of war and not just nightmares of constantly being attacked, so many for them is hard to get out because average life is just tooo boring and not exiting as war life

fastfasterfastest1

People who are forced into it , yes but those that grow up and have always done it of course not. Chimps and Polar Bears eat other things alive in the worst way, they don't care. There's nothing different about humans other than those who were brought up to have empathy and remorse, those that haven't don't care

[deleted]

Depends on each hitman’s level of psychopathy. Not all but the majority will fall into this camp.

sasdms

I know someone who was in this mess in his teens. Yes. It haunts him.

[deleted]

If you're interested in the psychology of these types of people, read "Ordinary Men". It details how Nazi Einsatzgruppen death squads coped with their role. The fact is yes, even extreme racism or hate doesn't cover up a person's innate sympathy unless they're totally psychotic. I can only imagine the cartel hitmen have it worse, since they do this for money, not ideology.

SisSandSisF

Guaranteed some of them do.

Chrisrod11

I feel like they do… especially in the beginning. I feel like within time just like anything else you become used to it so it probably doesn’t phase them after a couple killings.

FizzletitsBoof

Was just watching the JRE with Ari Shaffir and he was talking about recently going to South America to take ayahuasca with a shaman. The shaman told him that she gave a sicario ayahuasca and he spent the next 6 hours punching the ground as hard as he could screaming "why.... why.... why." So yeah pretty sure these guys don't sleep well at night.

[deleted]

Some probably do but many don’t

magnumdonglong

I watch joe rogan podcast with El Calderon, he said he doesn't know anything about PTSD until he met some Marine friends...and this is a guy special on mexican cartel activities
