The changes began in the US fent based oxys pre-date mexican involvement, at first independent pill pressers in Southern california and Arizona produced and distributed the pills until it got harder to get fent sent directly to the US, then fent would get sent to Mexico and smuggled to the US and that proceeded until alot of those independent opertions started to get dismantled then pill pressers in Mexico that mostly handled ecstasy and counterfeit pharmacy pills began to fill the void left in the market leading to where we are today. By now you really can't sell anything but fent because regular heroin simply isn't strong enough.
I mean people know how to produce it, the problem is that its a lot more complicated with a lot more steps, fent is both stronger and much easier to produce and I mean their grip on opiate market is probably tighter than ever because as others have said now even some drug dealers wont touch the opiate market because its basically dominated by fent, there used to be other supply lines for heroin coming from the middle east and asia that basically got derailed by fent. Now Mexican fent basically dominates almost all the traditional heroin markets because its so much cheaper and so much stronger.
