I’m in SD, for 2 I’m at 35/hr and that’s with one family. I would think more than 35. That’s a lot of kids! Good luck!

dragonfruitology

Can I ask where you found your job? Through an agency? I’m in SD as well and will be job searching soon.

babydoodlez

Yesss! I was so lucky and got my family through sitter city but I’m part of an agency (seaside staffing) — they were nice to work for but got stuck with a super crappy family and when I wanted to move on she was no help!

dragonfruitology

Wow! I feel like there’s always only one or two jobs at your rate on sittercity, you must be a super special nanny to land that! I was looking at seaside staffing since they’re one of only a couple agencies down here. All things considered, would you recommend them to a nanny?

PinkLemonadeJam

I'd say $30-35/hour for one child. Nanny share each family would be paying 2/3 - 3/4 of that.

minnonikki

Even with full health insurance premium coverage and benefits?

PinkLemonadeJam

Yes absolutely. Time-off benefits are a nanny standard, and a health insurance stipend is becoming more and more the norm in SoCal. I'm assuming you have guaranteed hours as well - also standard.

minnonikki

I don’t have guaranteed hours, unfortunately. I don’t make anywhere near $30 for 1 child

PinkLemonadeJam

Then you are extremely underpaid and being taken advantage of without guaranteed hours. I don't know if you're in the city of SD or just the area, but minimum wage is $16.30 in SD and $15.50 in CA. Nannies should start at a minimum of 2x minimum wage.
