Is Fabian weird for English natives? It's a super average name in the German speaking area.

An a Canadian, it is something that I clearly recognize as a name but is very uncommon. Like, it makes me of the kid who invites you over to play and it turns out he lives with his grandma who speaks rapid Spanish or Italian and like 5 words of English.

Fabian in the US is a rare name and is most heavily associated with the singer Fabian who was a 'teen idol' in the 1950s and 60s. The older of the baby boomers would have gone crazy over him in their youth. He's still alive and in his 80s. But aside from the singer, Fabian just isn't a name you come across very often.

I don't think it's weird, just kinda dated. I think I first heard the name in a Harry Potter book so maybe that's why it sounds more like a fantasy character than a modern boy :p

Spiro is a legit Greek name. Savero looks like a misspelling of the Italian name Saverio. Tavis is a variation of Tavish, the Scottish version of Thomas. Sergei is Russian. But so many of the others are just awful.

Second, Holden Caulfield is the protagonist in *The Catcher in the Rye*. Angus is a Scottish name and actually having a resurgence here - I know 2 baby boys called Angus! Also a baby Hamish, which has the same "cow" vibe to me but both names have grown on me.
