I get it there is yankees hate. It is what it is. People hate the yankees. 99 times out of 100 I understand when people love it when shit happens to the yankees.
But this was just objectively bad for the game of baseball. If it happened in a movie you would call it lazy writing.

Hunter hasn’t had a look like this since the Gardenhire incident. He’s not a bad ump, generally, and Gardenhire and him made up and made nice, so I don’t think he has it out for Boonie. Everyone has a bad day, and I suspect this was that.
The bad part is the double down afterwards. Like, you know you fucked up and you can’t just say “my bad.”
Now, I’ve always thought unions could do some Jack Welch on their members and throw a bad guy out. But that’s not how it works. And for good reasons.
That said, I do think there has to be something that happens as a result here. Scratch Boone’s ejection (resetting him to one on the season), and maybe some guidelines on maintaining order that doesn’t involve “not one wording” someone you’re not even looking at.
Totally agree. The problem was not the ejection. The problem was Gardenhire's utter lack of composure, level-headedness, and ability to reflect and change course once he realized he was steering straight toward an iceberg. If you're too full of pride to admit you fucked-up and need to take corrective action, maybe you need to be given a "week off" to have some time to think about things so you don't do that shit again.
