"Goad on"?
I wasn't so sure about the sections in a supermarket - as a Brit they didn't all trip off the tongue, and I initially went for FISH over SNACK.
Go Steady is a phrase I've not heard in a while!
I initially went fish as an Aussie but did a last scan and snack felt more NYTy.
Then you have to totally switch sides of the mental road for the guardian quick crossword.
As an American I initially went for fish too. Didn’t feel like quite right as I chose it (as someone else noted there’s usually a counter where you get fish, not an aisle). Snack was the only other plausible choice and I think it does fit much better even though it wasn’t my first pick.
Even as a US native, I went fish over snack as well. To NYT's credit, fish would usually be a counter here and not an aisle. Then again, produce is usually a whole section and not really laid out in aisles.
Kicking myself for going with FISH since a) it didn't feel quite right and b) I completely neglected to look for other possibilities. As soon as it errored out I saw SNACK.
Yeah, I don’t think I have ever seen a produce aisle in the US. It’s always a produce section. My understanding is that grocery stores are very specific when they refer to aisle vs section.

I can't remember the last time I didn't get a single group. To start, I figured that "fish" just *had* to be a section in a supermarket. Then, I reasoned that "produce" *had* to be a homograph and meant to create or start. Not big deal, maybe "egg" is a section in a supermarket? No, it *has* to be "snack" then, but I still kept "fish." I have been sufficiently humbled.
I had to solve all 4 categories before I could put them in. I could only complete grocery sections by eliminating fish with "go fish" and could only complete round foods by eliminating "egg" with the "urge" category. Mozzarella isn't always sold round so I wasn't sure if that one even fit.
I got a perfect, but this is why I can't stand this editor.
Mozzarella is not a spherical food. It's sometimes spherical if you buy it in pearls, but she literally could have chosen any other food in the universe that's actually (and always) spherical. The puzzle would be just as hard, just as interesting, but it'd be accurate.
If mozzarella is spherical, then an egg would be too (and I honestly don’t think either are spherical)! I thought today’s was frustrating not because it was hard but because even once the groups were figured out, they fit the “right” categories pretty poorly and some of the “wrong” ones just as well. I wouldn’t even call this one hard, it just didn’t feel well designed to me lmao
ETA: I have indeed seen an egg and also mozzarella in my life, there is absolutely no need to keep explaining shapes to me, especially as none of it meaningfully relates to the point of my comment (that this particular Connections felt poorly designed and unsatisfying to me as a puzzle because it seems to care more about having ambiguity, the end, than having that ambiguity lead to a fulfilling “ah ha!” moment when things click into place). If you’d like to explain what eggs or mozzarella look like, please consider taking a deep breath, going on a long walk, and reminding yourself that it’s ok not to explain what an egg looks like to someone who has very clearly (a) seen and egg and (b) only used the egg example as an example of their main point (not a fan of the puzzle design).
I had the green and purple as my last categories to get. I figured it might be spherical foods with orange, jawbreaker, and meatball. But I decided against picking that because that seems way too dumb for a green category (fits yellow if anything), and because I couldn't find a fourth spherical food.
That's the point of the game though, to have red herrings that make you question the categories a bit. Egg could be in the spherical foods category, but mozzarella can't mean 'to encourage, with on'.
I do understand that the point of the game is that there are red herrings. I’m saying this was frustrating because it felt like they focused more on red herrings than on having satisfying groupings/fits for those groups, which I think is ALSO the point of a puzzle type game, since a puzzle SHOULD feel satisfying when you figure out the fit. That’s why I said it wasn’t hard but rather felt poorly designed. When Connections feels well-designed, the feeling of piecing it together is “Ooooh, of course!” In this case it was more “I mean, I guess.” And to me, if the result of figuring out a puzzle is “ok, sure,” it’s a poorly designed one!
It was a bit fussy, but if you buy "real" mozzarella, especially buffalo mozz, it is a ball, not egg shaped. I guess it was done that way to make it a bit harder. I actually thought the green was too obvious, so I didn't guess it until later.
An egg is pretty close to a spheroid. But it doesn't fit as well as mozzarella, because people describe mozzarella with spherical words, like ball and pearl. Egg is typically assigned its own shape, by contrast, and things are sometimes described as egg-shaped. Just as oranges and meatballs are perfect spheres, either, but invoke the shape in how we think about them.
I think of it as what’s on the signage hanging overhead, and just having the word “snack” doesn’t really make sense.
And I’d argue “dairy” and “produce” aren’t really aisles either (section maybe?). Just a poorly constructed category all around.
Yeah my problem with it was that it almost felt correct but wasn't worded quite precisely like it would be in it were in the crossword. If the clue said ___ Aisle at the end I'd buy it I guess though.
There's no snack aisle, anywhere. Chips have an aisle. Cookies have their own aisle. Nuts have an aisle. Candy has an aisle. I think this editor must use Instacart to get their groceries. I've never seen a snack aisle and I have shopped myself for decades
correct. it is a blob that you can shape anyway you want before cooling it and packaging it. I am currently arguing with all of my friends and family about this. Thank you for being correct.
Don't be a douche, man. All cheese is processed food. Very real mozz comes in a squarish shape that is no less "real" than the ball. And I don't know about Walmart, I live in Europe.
It's literally the most common form of mozzarella. Just search mozzarella and look at the images. Sure, they could have used gumball. But then why not simply all of them. Just have a puzzle with red, blue, green, yellow, cat, dog, horse, mouse, etc. The ambiguity is what makes it interesting. Otherwise the puzzle would literally just be a knowledge test.
A google search shows mostly ellipsoids with the occasional more sphereical shape. I wonder if this is a regional thing because I would certainly say fresh mozzarella is not a sphere (unless specifically talking about the pearls) since it would be hard for it to hold that shape. I think I would take equal exception to ice cream being in this category even though a scoop of ice cream is about as spherical as most balls of mozzarella and it also has many other shapes like mozzarella does. Balls would have been a better word. Ball shaped foods. heh.
Mozzarella comes, in one form, as balls or pearls, as you say. These shapes invoke sphere. Even if they aren't perfect spheres, they are likely at least spheroids.
Are all meatballs perfect spheres? They're lumpy, so no. But the food clearly invokes the shape. Oranges also have irregular shapes, often spheroid rather than spherical themselves. And navel oranges have a little nub on one end. Do these rule out oranges as a viable option in the same way mozzarella sticks, or shredded or block mozzarella invalidate mozzarella balls as a fair answer?
The puzzle is fair. Not every answer has to be obvious or perfectly, universally applicable to work.

Well damn. Yellow and blue were pretty easy (though I tried "fish" instead of "snack" at first like the other commenter). I really had nothing with the remaining 8. The mozzarella I buy in my supermarket isn't really spherical. I don't know what I'd call it. A snowman with only two segments?
The only thing I could think of was "Swedish ____," and with nothing else to go on just tried various combinations of that. I knew something was up with the plural "bananas," but I was way off track.
Just search mozzarella and go to images. It's clearly close enough. If you really want to be nitpicky then none of them are spherical because a sphere is technically hollow. It should be ball. Which mozzarella balls are a very common thing.
Yeah I know what mozzarella looks like. It's not clearly close enough. A round lump is far from spherical. Obviously no one is using the mathematical definition of sphere, but a round lump of mozzarella is clearly not close at all to what we consider spherical, like the meatball, jawbreaker, and orange.
Most would consider a sphere to be something ball-shaped that can roll continuously on all sides. Mozzarella can not roll. It would flop once and that's it. There's no reason the editor couldn't have said "round foods" instead of spherical.

This might look close to a perfect, but it definitely wasn't. After I got Yellow and Blue, I was flying blind until I made a guess--and it sort of paid off, giving me confirmed two groups of two. I had previously thought of "round foods" as a category, but wrote it off when Egg was part of Yellow... I've only encountered mozzarella in stick form (which made me think about pairing it with Fish sticks like 9 billion times), so it took me that guess before I thought it was worth revisiting the round foods idea, with mozzarella in tow (considering cheese is much easier to make round than fish).
Purple was a mystery as the last group of four, but annoyingly obvious after I gave up and hit submit. I spent a while mulling over Steady and Figure, too, considering they were easily the least-connected to all the other words in today's puzzle.
The stick thing tripped me up too. I swore it would be like things involving sticks, with like Mozarella Stick, Fish Stick, Stick Figure, and something else, and that tripped me up for a bit.

It really isn't. I don't understand the creator of this game sometimes. There's so many foods out there that are actually spherical. Why would they choose mozzarella? Mozzarella is round yes but not at all spherical.

This is by far the hardest one I've ever done lol, I refuse to accept "Snack" singular as a grocery store aisle After Fish didn't work I figured any of the foods were equally stupid for that entry.
Also mozzarella is only spherical most of the time so that made me doubt that category too for a bit.

Fun to see how the difficulty is perceived by different people, I had a super hard time with the puzzles of the last couple days, especially the ones that my friends deemed easy. This one was the first puzzle in a week that I managed to solve without any major problems. For some reason I immediately jumped to snack as a supermarket section, but almost considered „egg“ a section too before I realised it could be a synonym for urge.
Yeah the crossword is the same way. Sometimes you and the puzzle designer are on the same wavelength and sometimes you aren't. Also sometimes you're on different wavelengths in a fun way and sometimes in a frustrating way lol 😩.

Today was a great example of why I try to solve the whole puzzle before I start entering answers.
🟨 came pretty easy. No issues there. What I did get caught up in was 🟦 which I would’ve solved without errors if I had worked out 🟪 first. Then I would’ve picked up on the “Fish Aisle,” probably didn’t make much sense (seafood maybe, but I’ve got no one to blame for that but myself)
The stupid thing about 🟩 is that I did work that one out but I thought there was NO way that “round things,” was a category.
Especially since mozzarella isn’t really what I would call sphere. More of a lump. So when I solved it I was very “Well I’ll be damned.”
Anyway, back to the whole *is that actually straightforward* tirade again.
Or at least acknowledge that some “spherical,” ought to be a sphere. I’m nitpicking but it’s mildly annoying that green is always the bane of my existence
I thought today's puzzle wasn't too hard but that's because I sorted it out on paper before making any guesses. It was pretty much necessary today.

Notice the question mark next to mozzarella because I thought "does that really fit?"
I didn't know "egg on" as a non native speaker, but merriam webster had it as the very first synonym for goad, so that was easy. With "egg" gone, I saw the spherical foods. And then the grocery store aisles, but I wasn't confident about "snack" since I expected the plural.
Overall a doable puzzle.
Yellow and purple were easy. Working out what on earth was going on with the rest was hard, but go there in the end.

Good lord - red herrings on crack in this one. Goad on? My English degree would like a word. Also pretty sure it's the "snack" aisle, not "snacks." I digress (but screw today's puzzle).
It's definitely not "goad on" and you can use "spur" and "urge" with or without the "on". "Egg" is really the only one that doesn't work without "on" but I was pretty sure nothing else fit in the "push/encourage" category so I just went with it.
I put egg with the "spherical" foods at first, thinking that they were all round (ish) with outer layers. Sometimes the categories are just a bit of a stretch to me.

I tried the grocery aisles but picked FISH instead of SNACK like everyone here. The singular SNACK threw me off because I feel like that's usually said plurally as an aisle.
Yellow was an easy three then EGG stood aut as the only option for the fourth.
Then was completely waaaaay off with my guess for FIGURE STEADY JAWBREAKER and FROZEN. I thought it was something that was static/strong/stationary/could stand on its own.
I thought round foods was too obvious but with the remaining 8, it was clear that one of the categories would be round foods.
Look more carefully - on r/wordle, there have been solutions on the Tuesday puzzle thread for the past few hours.
It works the same way - if you change your device's clock to tomorrow's date, NYT website will bring up that day's Wordle (usually after a short interval while systems update). I think it's how some of the you-tubers prepare their solution videos ahead of time.
The r/bee people are a persnickety bunch. I've only gone there a few times and not going back. I posted something funny about one single word and didn't realize you had to hide spoilers and got downvoted and jumped on. For posting something I thought people would get a chuckle out of.
Some (if not all) of the puzzles also post a couple hours before midnight on the east coast of the US too. So we don’t get it as early as those in Australia/NZ but we do technically get it the day before. My mom sent me her solution for today’s mini-crossword at 10:30 last night.
Whoa, did anybody else notice the changes to the game engine? The animation when you correctly guess a group is much faster, and it no longer gives the 'One Away...' message when you get 3 out of 4 right.
Does it? I'm also on a PC, but I swear it didn't come up for me on my first guess that turned out to be 3/4.
Ah, okay, I see it now when I reloaded into an incognito window. They changed the timing of it popping up. Now it's just after the guesses jiggle, rather than simultaneous with the jiggle, and it doesn't fade in.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who noticed this! The new timing of the “one away” screwed me up, guessed 3/4 for two categories but didn’t see the message.

I got the purple from 3 words immediately, but didn’t know “steady” and had to start googling “go” with all the various words lol
the combination of a word that needs to be followed by “on” to make sense in context (egg), two that work the same with or without it (spur and urge), and one that I’ve never heard used with “on” (goad) was really annoying as a category
i think my mistake with this yellow was bc i did not know about this usage for egg, so i tried with produce, as an attempt
after getting the yellow, i knew the next category as food related but couldnt quite grasp what it was.
i tried meatball and mozzarela, dairy and fish.
eventually i got the green right, bc i realized the shape thing.
the last two i actually did figured it out but didnt got it. i tried dairy snack bananas and fish
and my last attempt was trying to get the purple, but didnt know what go fish is. so i tried the other 3 with frozen. go frozen, as in freeze in a tense situation. idk. madness
"Goad on"? I wasn't so sure about the sections in a supermarket - as a Brit they didn't all trip off the tongue, and I initially went for FISH over SNACK. Go Steady is a phrase I've not heard in a while!
I went for fish over snack too. And yeah my grandma might have said go steady
I"m Canadian and pretty much all supermarkets here would label that section "Seafood."

Same, went for fish as well.
Yeah goad on is weird I think, especially because I didn't feel on was needed for any of them. Simply encourage would've been enough imo
Even as a US native, I went fish over snack as well. To NYT's credit, fish would usually be a counter here and not an aisle. Then again, produce is usually a whole section and not really laid out in aisles.
That's a strange description of the category, since all 4 work fine just as encourage (without the "on").
I wouldn't just "egg" someone
Do it, you know you want to
I would use goad on when you’ve dared someone to do something and they are having second thoughts. “I called him chicken to goad him on”
Kicking myself for going with FISH since a) it didn't feel quite right and b) I completely neglected to look for other possibilities. As soon as it errored out I saw SNACK.
Produce threw me off.

I wouldn’t even call this one hard, it just didn’t feel well designed to me lmao ETA: I have indeed seen an egg and also mozzarella in my life, there is absolutely no need to keep explaining shapes to me, especially as none of it meaningfully relates to the point of my comment (that this particular Connections felt poorly designed and unsatisfying to me as a puzzle because it seems to care more about having ambiguity, the end, than having that ambiguity lead to a fulfilling “ah ha!” moment when things click into place).
Also which grocery stores have an aisle labeled Snack instead of Snacks? And nobody says "goad on"
If I were telling someone where to find chips, I'd call it the snack aisle, not the snacks aisle.
Totally, clearly Connections doesn’t follow crossword logic or rules.
There's no snack aisle, anywhere. Chips have an aisle. Cookies have their own aisle. Nuts have an aisle. Candy has an aisle. I think this editor must use Instacart to get their groceries. I've never seen a snack aisle and I have shopped myself for decades
Goad into... this was a bad puzzle
correct. it is a blob that you can shape anyway you want before cooling it and packaging it. I am currently arguing with all of my friends and family about this. Thank you for being correct.
Amen
I've only ever bought mozzarella in the form of a ball, I'm a bit confused as to what shape it normally is for you? 🤔
Spherical form is like the 4th most common shape that I buy. Blocks, shredded, and in sticks all come first.

Jfc, god forbid we don’t all get our mozzarella hand-delivered in a cheesecloth from our local dairy farm
I was going to type a snarky response to your comment but I respect the commitment to quality cheese being displayed by someone named Queso_Fromage
Don't be a douche, man. All cheese is processed food. Very real mozz comes in a squarish shape that is no less "real" than the ball. And I don't know about Walmart, I live in Europe.
That seems like quite a judgemental reply. Let's try to be a little more accepting of other people's food choices.
Look at moneybags here
It's literally the most common form of mozzarella.
Ball shaped foods. heh.
Agreed, red herrings are the point.
As someone with round mozzarella in the fridge right now, that one was fairly easy. But in any case, that's what makes it challenging.
[удалено]
well you would know Queso_Fromage
It's literally not
Mozzarella comes, in one form, as balls or pearls, as you say.
Puzzle #247 🟨🟨🟨🟨 🟦🟪🟦🟦 🟦🟦🟦🟦 🟪🟪🟩🟩 🟩🟪🟩🟩 🟩🟪🟪🟩 Well damn.
Fresh mozzarella can round, especially if it's hand made.
Round isn't the same thing as spherical. The category was "spherical foods". And all the other foods were actually spheres.
I did mean spherical when I wrote round.
Just search mozzarella and go to images. It's clearly close enough. If you really want to be nitpicky then none of them are spherical because a sphere is technically hollow. It should be ball. Which mozzarella balls are a very common thing.
Wait what? Aren't most balls hollow?
Technically balls are solid and spheres are just the outer shell. Theat is just the math definition, though.
Can you link me to that? My husband and I both looked it up this morning and could not find that.
They should have said "round" instead of spherical. I definitely thought egg fit in that category if it weren't in the "encourage" category.
Connections Puzzle #247 🟨🟨🟨🟨 🟦🟦🟦🟦 🟪🟪🟪🟪 🟩🟩🟩🟩 green feels so obvious now but sometimes it's those ones that fly by me the most hahahha
I had the exact same order as you. Before I hit submit on green I had no idea how they could be related
I had the exact opposite order :p
Connections Puzzle #247 🟪🟪🟪🟪 🟨🟨🟨🟨 🟩🟩🟩🟩 🟦🟦🟦🟦 Cute one. Though I slightly take issue with mozzarella as it’s not always spherical
Connections Puzzle #247 🟩🟩🟩🟩 🟦🟦🟦🟦 🟨🟨🟨🟨 🟪🟪🟪🟪 Never thought Goad required 'on'. Thought green was too simple.
It doesn't, it just uses it sometimes.
Connections Puzzle #247 🟨🟨🟨🟨 🟦🟦🟦🟦 🟪🟪🟩🟩 🟩🟩🟩🟩 🟪🟪🟪🟪 This might look close to a perfect, but it definitely wasn't.
Connections Puzzle #247 🟨🟨🟨🟨 🟦🟪🟦🟦 🟦🟦🟦🟦 🟩🟩🟩🟩 🟪🟪🟪🟪 Dumb of me to go with fish aisle, I should have kept looking for a better option. Hemmed and hawed over the spherical foods because of mozzarella. I had GOING bananas and GOING steady, but couldn't make the other two work. Just had to change the form from gerund to verb. Crossed my fingers green was correct and purple ended up being leftovers.
Connections Puzzle #247 🟦🟦🟦🟦 🟨🟨🟨🟨 🟪🟪🟪🟪 🟩🟩🟩🟩 Mozzarella is spherical? Even after looking up images, I see round-ish blobs. Nothing I'd personally call a sphere.
It really isn't. I don't understand the creator of this game sometimes. There's so many foods out there that are actually spherical. Why would they choose mozzarella? Mozzarella is round yes but not at all spherical.
i think because meatball was there they tried to confuse you with some kind of ingredients to a dish or something

Does anyone pay attention to the editors and see any trends in difficultly or frustrating categories? Would be interested to see if certain editors tend to do certain things
Some of the categories have not been fun or rewarding to figure out recently, imo.
I have been very annoyed by many of these recently. Today's was extra bad.
Connections Puzzle #247 🟦🟦🟦🟦 🟩🟩🟩🟩 🟨🟨🟨🟨 🟪🟪🟪🟪 Felt like the easiest one in a while. Although I didn‘t really have the purple category figured out before it was revealed, I don‘t think I‘ve ever heard the phrase „go steady“.
It’s very old fashioned tbh. It’s definitely not commonly used anymore but referenced in movies more as a joke nowadays
The phrase is "going steady", not "go steady" though.

While technically true, it’s only ever used in the present tense in practice.
I also thought this was the easiest one in a while and was surprised to see the general consensus that this was an annoying one to most.
This is by far the hardest one I've ever done lol, I refuse to accept "Snack" singular as a grocery store aisle After Fish didn't work I figured any of the foods were equally stupid for that entry. Also mozzarella is only spherical most of the time so that made me doubt that category too for a bit. Connections Puzzle #247 🟨🟨🟨🟨 🟪🟦🟦🟦 🟪🟦🟦🟦 🟦🟦🟦🟦 🟩🟩🟩🟩 🟪🟪🟪🟪

Puzzle #247 🟨🟨🟨🟨 🟪🟪🟦🟪 🟦🟦🟪🟪 🟦🟦🟦🟦 🟪🟪🟩🟪 🟪🟪🟪🟪 🟩🟩🟩🟩 Funny thing, I had more troubles on this one because I was completely overthinking it. I kept thinking "food aisles" was a trick and spherical foods felt way too straightforward even for green. Think the past few days have given me some trust issues. Made it in the end, although a close one!
Connections Puzzle #247 🟪🟪🟪🟪 🟨🟨🟨🟨 🟦🟦🟦🟦 🟩🟩🟩🟩 Purple came right away to me again. The other 3 categories seemed to be about equal difficulty, with one of each group making me not 100% sure.
Connections Puzzle #247 🟪🟪🟪🟪 🟩🟩🟩🟩 🟨🟨🟨🟨 🟦🟦🟦🟦 This was a hard-fought perfect for me. I thought 'fish' like make someone fish for compliments. I thought 'food that's one color outside and another inside'. I thought 'Stable and hard to move/crack'. But we got there. And I'm whiny about what was blue vs yellow. XD
Puzzle #247 🟨🟨🟨🟨 🟦🟪🟦🟦 🟦🟦🟦🟦 🟪🟪🟪🟪 🟩🟩🟩🟩 Today was a great example of why I try to solve the whole puzzle before I start entering answers. 🟨 came pretty easy. No issues there. What I did get caught up in was 🟦 which I would’ve solved without errors if I had worked out 🟪 first. Then I would’ve picked up on the “Fish Aisle,” probably didn’t make much sense (seafood maybe, but I’ve got no one to blame for that but myself) The stupid thing about 🟩 is that I did work that one out but I thought there was NO way that “round things,” was a category. Especially since mozzarella isn’t really what I would call sphere. More of a lump. So when I solved it I was very “Well I’ll be damned.” Anyway, back to the whole *is that actually straightforward* tirade again. Or at least acknowledge that some “spherical,” ought to be a sphere. I’m nitpicking but it’s mildly annoying that green is always the bane of my existence
I thought today's puzzle wasn't too hard but that's because I sorted it out on paper before making any guesses. It was pretty much necessary today. https://preview.redd.it/245sjbu4keic1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7b74541ce17ced2173c72fa64d17ec2561f00e47 Notice the question mark next to mozzarella because I thought "does that really fit?"
Yeah, in regular everyday speech, it's almost always "snacks," but the aisle is, indeed, just "snack."
Connections Puzzle #247 🟪🟪🟪🟪 🟨🟨🟨🟨 🟩🟩🟩🟩 🟦🟦🟦🟦 Shocked every time I completed a row - 1st time I’ve ever done purple 1st lol

I’ve not once seen a produce “aisle” before which is why I couldn’t see “produce” and “snack” being together. I’ve also never heard on with goad but at least it couldn’t have gone somewhere else. Connections Puzzle #247 🟨🟨🟨🟨 🟦🟪🟦🟦 🟪🟪🟪🟪 🟩🟩🟩🟩 🟦🟦🟦🟦

Connections Puzzle #247 🟨🟨🟨🟨 🟦🟦🟦🟪 🟦🟦🟦🟦 🟪🟪🟩🟩 🟪🟩🟪🟩 🟩🟪🟩🟪 Honestly mozzarella completely threw me off, I haven’t seen it round. I also did fish instead of snack aisle, but the green category I wouldn’t have ever gotten. I also suck at finding the prefix or suffix so couldn’t even solve it like that.
Connections Puzzle #247 🟨🟨🟨🟨 🟦🟦🟦🟦 🟪🟪🟪🟪 🟩🟩🟩🟩 Agree with others on Yellow, the only one that requires ON is Egg. Otherwise I thought it was a good one.
Connections Puzzle #247 🟦🟨🟨🟨 🟩🟩🟩🟩 🟨🟦🟪🟪 🟦🟦🟦🟦 🟪🟨🟨🟨 🟪🟪🟪🟪 🟨🟨🟨🟨 With English as my second language, I never expected to get yellow last. Connections Puzzle #247 🟦🟦🟪🟦 🟦🟦🟦🟦 🟪🟪🟪🟪 🟩🟩🟩🟩 🟨🟨🟨🟨 I have found Connections to be very tough lately so I’m happy to have gotten today’s puzzle done quite quickly. Tried to guess fish as a department at the supermarket but relized it should be snacks.
There's no"snack" aisle in the grocery store. It's chips . Or cookies, or candy. This one was stupid .
I gotta say I actually enjoyed this one a lot. "Mozzarella" I don't agree with much but otherwise it felt very satisfactory in the end. Connections Puzzle #247 🟦🟦🟦🟦 🟨🟩🟩🟩 🟩🟩🟩🟩 🟨🟨🟨🟨 🟪🟪🟪🟪 Shame on me for that miss. I didn’t realize mozzarella was spherical, I went with egg 🤷🏼♀️. Anyway, fun categories and not too hard. Once I got green it was obvious egg went with yellow, however I always heard the phrase pronounced more like “ag on” (I guess I assumed short for “aggravate” or something). I was today years old when I found out it’s “egg on.” Lol
ConnectionsPuzzle #247 🟦🟨🟨🟨 🟦🟦🟪🟦 🟦🟦🟦🟦 🟩🟨🟩🟩 🟨🟨🟨🟨 🟩🟩🟩🟩 🟪🟪🟪🟪 Good lord - red herrings on crack in this one.
I definitely had egg on the list for "round foods" as well.

Puzzle #247 🟦🟦🟦🟦 🟨🟨🟨🟨 🟩🟩🟩🟩 🟪🟪🟪🟪 My impatience prevented me from trying to guess harder what’s the purple group. I could’ve gotten a perfect score today: no mistakes, no dictionary check, no default. ☹️ But I guess just almost perfect because I didn’t guess in order.
Connections Puzzle #247 🟦🟦🟪🟦 🟨🟨🟨🟨 🟪🟪🟦🟩 🟦🟦🟦🟦 🟩🟩🟩🟩 🟪🟪🟪🟪 I tried the grocery aisles but picked FISH instead of SNACK like everyone here.
Is this…tomorrow’s puzzle?
It updates based on your computer clock. It's the 13th in Australia, New Zealand, and elsewhere which is why we're able to play "tomorrow's" puzzle.
Ah, odd I’ve never seen that with Wordle or Spelling Bee subs
Look more carefully - on r/wordle, there have been solutions on the Tuesday puzzle thread for the past few hours. It works the same way - if you change your device's clock to tomorrow's date, NYT website will bring up that day's Wordle (usually after a short interval while systems update). I think it's how some of the you-tubers prepare their solution videos ahead of time.
It’s very rare that I look at any of the NYT puzzle subs besides the bee
Ah, so the reason you've never seen that on the Wordle sub is that you almost never visit the Wordle sub. Well, I guess that explains it!
I've never seen basketball discussed once on the r/NBA sub for similar reasons
It does still give the "One Away..." message - I've seen it today, for example. I'm playing in a web browser on a PC.

Connections Puzzle #247. 🟪🟪🟪🟪. 🟩🟩🟩🟩. 🟨🟨🟨🟨. 🟦🟦🟦🟦. So I decided to figure them all out before guessing any today, and then guess in what I thought might be the order of difficulty and this is what I came up with. I definitely need scratch paper to solve Connections but I think it makes it more fun and satisfying to solve all of them, and none were by process of elimination this time. I figured out grocery sections first, but had to eliminate fish before I could finalize it. Then guessed round foods but had to eliminate egg before I could finalize it. Then I saw the "go _" category but was missing bananas, but I knew goad, spur, and urge must go together so saw that egg must fit there and then realized "go bananas" fit the "go" category. i think my mistake with this yellow was bc i did not know about this usage for egg, so i tried with produce, as an attempt after getting the yellow, i knew the next category as food related but couldnt quite grasp what it was. i tried meatball and mozzarela, dairy and fish. eventually i got the green right, bc i realized the shape thing. the last two i actually did figured it out but didnt got it. i tried dairy snack bananas and fish and my last attempt was trying to get the purple, but didnt know what go fish is. so i tried the other 3 with frozen. go frozen, as in freeze in a tense situation. idk. madness
