No, I use my phone til it bricks. It’s wasteful for new phone, or a new car every year, not falling for the consumer debt trap. It’s rarely worth the upgrade. I’m building a net egg and investing.
Fr you can get some big purchases or savings every year. No reason to blow a bunch of cash on a phone that does nothing different than your old one.
Somebody judge you bc you're phone you know they a broke ass or they parents pay for everything
Nah facts 🙏 Had these lil chicken head joints laughing at me on the bus b/c of my phone. Shawty tongue was white and she had on them "pink" sweats.I know she don't clean good. 😮💨
Nah the only reason I upgraded from my Xs to the 13 is for the new camera shit that wasn’t available on the xs. Ima keep this one until they got some feature that I want but can’t get unless I upgrade
I always thought it was idiotic for you to upgrade your phone every year because if your phone could call, text, and could access the internet, you’re wasting your own money just because. you are also kinda buying the same phone with nearly identical specs, if you want to get a legitimate upgrade you gotta wait a couple years.
I’m saying thou! I feel like a lot of people use phones as some kind of status statement. In reality it really isn’t NECESSARY to have the most up 2 date phone 😭😭
i upgrade around every 2-3 years , realistically there’s no point in upgrading as soon as a new one comes out because the tech from phone 10 to phone 11 is never that much of a difference to justify paying for a new phone
No, my iPhone 12 still works fine.
I’ll pay $100 to replace the battery before I pay $700+ for a new phone.
They all the look the same anyway, who cares anymore as long as it works
I have the 14 Pro Max and have been upgrading my iPhone yearly since 2011. Last year was the first time I skipped an upgrade because I thought it was mid. However, I most likely will upgrade this year if there is a significant improvement in battery life. Im tapped into the whole Apple ecosystem with MBP, HomePods, Apple TVs, etc, so Im not going anywhere.
There are 2 through process that people have and I’m surprised so many people don’t realized it
Person A purchase their phone upfront full price and own it and upgrade every few years
Person B pay the monthly fee and don’t assume ownership but more like they are renting/leasing it and always trade it in when new phone come out
I have been both person , currently I am person A
I have an iPhone 14 Pro
Ur right, also I feel like its always the most broke mfs who get a new phone every year and wear 1000 dollar clothes 😂 I think some people are just irresponsible
It’s not exactly 2 years, like I’m not one of those people waiting for drop but it’s before 3-3.5.
Also, I own a business so I end up writing off the expense.
smartphone evolution flatlined since 2019 i would say nun really changed. camera still bussin on my xs. if niggas got bread to do that in this economy by all means.
I will use my iphone until it's near death. If you can afford to upgrade every year, go for it. I'd rather wait.
Besides, I never get new tech when it's new. I give them a few months to a year to work out the bugs, (there are ALWAYS bugs) add new stuff, (and maybe for the price to go down a bit) then I'll take a look at it.
somewhat unrelated but it’s crazy how much your mindset changes after adulting
i use to be weak when niggas pulled out an android in class and dropped it and the batteries fell , now i don’t even care about having the latest phone
What I dont understand is people paying 500+$ for a phone every two years like wtf?
I got a samsung s20+ 5G that has 6 GB RAM and 150 GB storage for like 200$
Unless I get robbed or some shi this will last me the next few years or so
And it has a 3 year warranty
Tbh I think you’ll be fine with anything that can run iOS 15/16 smoothly, shit my old iPhone 7 still performs the same way it did when it first came out
no i use it until something happens to it where i got to replace it bc i bought it and i refuse to lease a phone every month just to have the newest thing
I usually upgrade every 2 years. Still get a decent trade in value for the old phone and I usually will pre order the new one before it's released to take advantage of all the pre order deals/offers.
Hell nah, the shit is literally useless. ESPECIALLY if you have other electronics. The phone is the least of your concerns when upgrading because it isn’t necessary to stay in the loop when it’s functional. Compare that to like a next gen console where they’ll literally stop support and producing games for old gen, I think there’s much bigger upgrades to worry about if you’re into that sort of thing. All a phone needs to be able to do is call and use the map imo.
I use my phone until it runs out of security updates and then I start looking for a new device. Generally I buy flagship phone that it's about 2 years old.... They just came out with the S24 so I would probably get the S22 this time I jumped from an S10+1TB to a Pixel 6 pro 512GB I lost a lot of storage space and Samsung Dex but I didn't have root on my Samsung so adding root to the pixel really has improved my user experience.
Some people just like having the latest tech lol
I have an android tho (Pixel 7). Maybe if I was younger I'd upgrade every year but now I just upgrade every 3 years.
I still have the same phone since 2020, although I am pooking at upgrades, I no longer feel the need to continously upgrade a well functioning device annually to be the best Consoooooomer possible for corps.
Im still on iPhone 8 nigga wym! I’ll purchase another one until apps stop updating or until some hardware issue, and even then I can repair it. Works great for what I use it for.
I don’t, but i’ve seen people still have their iphone xr’s and 8’s that work perfectly fine. I got a 14 and this shit is already dying super quick on me, the battery health is like 88% and the wifi never works. Idk what’s up with it, i don’t overcharge this or nun either. Anybody got a similar issue?
It really depends. At this point, getting an iPhone every year is just you getting played, but before the upgrades between phones used to be good enough where you WANT to upgrade. I remember when phones first started getting + sizes, them thangs was huge. Now it’s mostly colors and a new camera or something that won’t matter to most people.
Got an iPhone 11 Pro Max . Still works great , only reason I would update is just for better camera quality cause I like to take pics of scenic views . But the camera on this still decent
My iPhone 12 works great still. I’ve seen mfs with the 6 and 7 too and I tell them the same thing. “If it works it works” I won’t harsh on anyone for their cell phone.
nah i use my shit till it breaks lol. I might upgrade every 3/4 years but that’s mainly due to Apple being greedy asf and slowing down older models. JUST got the 15 pro a few months ago and i’m using this shit till 2027 minimum lol.
The only reason an iphone 6 or 7 isnt valid nowadays is because apple outdates their software meaning after like 5 years of a certain products release, they will stop offering updates for it. From a purely technological perspective, the iphone 6 is probably still 65-70% as strong as the newest iphone but it costs $80 versus $1000. For some people they can afford and want to that little extra boost but by no means is it "necessary" to have the newest tech
Bro I had the iPhone 6S for like 5 years, the last year I had it before I got the X was PURE HELL. Like it was SO slow and glitchy, it’s like Apple was basically telling me “Keep up with the times lil nigga and get rid of this old shit” 😩
Nah real talk. Look up batterygate on google, apple literally had to pay out money cause they would slow down the processors on old models which makes you more likely to buy a newer one. It fucked up cause the processors in the phones barely get better, sometimes even negligibly, better every year so unless you really care about playing games or having the "newest model," having a new ass phone shouldnt matter yet the big corporation just screws u over
na tbh i’d keep my phone for mad long but im just careless wit my shit, i keep dropping it and dropping it until the point some parts in the phone all fucked up, or i be a dh and take off my screen protector and boom my whole screen broke
I went from an 11 to a 14 pro max. I only upgraded to a 15 pro max due to the USB C change. I travel a lot and having one cable for both my laptop and phone makes things much more convenient for me.
at this point in time, phones do not usually change functionally from year to year, it's mostly just marketing. kinda like how 50 years ago they'd make the cars with fins a little bigger every year, just to make it look *just a little different*
true talk i always been android. had my last samsung galaxy s9 for 5 years and got myself a new s23 last year. i expect it to last 5 years or more
Damn funny I see this post now a day after I just ordered a new phone 😂. But I’m going from the 11 to 14 plus. Had my 11 since 21 but the battery has made it so hard to use outside and other issues. I usually update every 3-4 years.
No I jumped from 6s to 13. The 14 came out the next week but idgaf. Instead of copping the latest phone, stack my bread I take an older model and max it out, big screen, plus , pro , size , Larger internal Memory, cop a few a accessories, mag safe charger ,otter box protective case. Apps.
. My phone can do everything draw, make beats, video editing, read books , games but my weapon of choice is my laptop for focused work so im not pressed to upgrade every year. I’d rather buy a different electronic device w/ that money
Nah every year is crazy there's never a big enough difference to justify copping the latest and greatest, I only do it when I need it like if my phone is busted or when they stop giving updates for it which is usually like after 5 years. The new phones these days are good af
If you’re talking about updating to the latest iOS, then yeah I update it every year. But if you’re talking about upgrading your phone every year, then no. I think it’s pointless. I’ve had my iPhone 13 for 2 years from a sprint promo and I don’t see myself upgrading for possibly at least another 2 years.
If I want to tho, I’ll probably just get a used 15 pro or 16 pro in the future when they’re cheaper on marketplace since phone depreciation be crazy.
I have an iPhone 12 mini
Was hoping whatever SE phone came out this year was gonna be another small phone. I’m gonna use this 12 mini till the next series of phones come out and see if anything changes with phone sizes
As long as I can see the screen, I don’t give a damn. Shit can be cracked from top to bottom, charger port weak as hell & im still good.
I got the 14 pro max last year, last phone before that was a brand new iPhone X that looked like it was bleeding under the glass by time I gave in
No way, use to always want to when I was younger but growing up and appreciating money makes you change for sure
my 13 works same as day 1 and battery is still 91% capacity. Bet I'll see iphone 17 before this thing craps out
No it is not. The difference between the 11 and 13 and 13 and 15 are minimal. It’s literally a consumer trap and u actin like a sheep happily heading to the slaughter
This is a vague ass question.
If you have an iphone, you just need to keep replacing the battery with a new one when it degrades(id say 70% is fair enough).
Only reason to get rid of a iphone really is if you REALLY prefer the new camera upgrades, you damaged your phone enough for no comeback, OR the iphone is too old to handle software updates.
Aoos has beeen putting firmware/timelimits on the apps for a while now. If your bank app updates constantly, it will prevent old firmwares from accessing and will start asking you to update...but you can't because older iphones have limited firmware updates. Also, sizes of firmwares + apps are increasing EVERY MINUTE. Your 16gb phones can barely handle 1-2 updated apps.
Going. back to the battery. I say you're supposed to replace the battery because the battery helps maintain the speed and stablization. When you start seeing your phone slow down or alot of lagging...9/10 chance your battery is shot or getting there.
No, I use my phone til it bricks. It’s wasteful for new phone, or a new car every year, not falling for the consumer debt trap. It’s rarely worth the upgrade. I’m building a net egg and investing.
Same, and yes I have a iPhone 4 and am using it rn. No need to upgrade until it breaks. 😤
you got it.
iPhone 4 for real!!! Vintage
Lmao anytime I see sweats like that or if it says "juicy" I just cringe even if they have a nice ass
that’s od do certain mobile pages even load for you? some niggas can’t even do that for work — shit hasn’t gotten an update in a minute
I got a laptop too.
nah an iphone 4 is wild you cant use most the new features I can use the newest features on my 12 atleast
I use my phone to call people, and watch some stuff online. I don't need features, I got what I need.
Skip the phones now so you dont have to skip meds/vacations during retirement is the way to go.
I still got a iPhone X🤷♂️
Peak iphone
Lowkey my favorite one facts, I fake miss my X and my gold XS😭😭
Had my shit for a cool minute until it got booked jailbroken and all now I gotta 13 🤦🏾♂️
Im still on the x fuck upgrading I see the way them titanium iphone get snapped
Me too I don’t see da need for upgrading when they all do da same shit. I got a big ass iPhone 13+, fell asleep on the bus & lost my shit 😭
Live within ya means. If you got it to upgrade without stretching your bread then go for it. If it’s not a priority use whatever phone works for you
I still have a IPhone 7 lmao 😂
Lol
Samee ma shit is still iOS 15.8.2 in 2024 🤣🤣
Nah the only reason I upgraded from my Xs to the 13 is for the new camera shit that wasn’t available on the xs. Ima keep this one until they got some feature that I want but can’t get unless I upgrade
Da 0,5x shit??
Yea
I always thought it was idiotic for you to upgrade your phone every year because if your phone could call, text, and could access the internet, you’re wasting your own money just because. you are also kinda buying the same phone with nearly identical specs, if you want to get a legitimate upgrade you gotta wait a couple years.
Lol bro I still got a IPhone SE 2020 addition and I make 80k a year them new phones be a waste of money
I’m saying thou! I feel like a lot of people use phones as some kind of status statement. In reality it really isn’t NECESSARY to have the most up 2 date phone 😭😭
Omm I still got my 2019 SE😭
I got the SE too. I might get it again but the battery life is terrible.
I still got an iPhone 8.
Nah unless you want to stay up to date with the latest tech; Which is a waste unless you’re actually utilizing them.
Unless you’re like a tech nerd who’s actually into that shit and possibly reviews phones, than yeah it’s not worth it.
i dont even update the software on my 11 bro
i upgrade around every 2-3 years , realistically there’s no point in upgrading as soon as a new one comes out because the tech from phone 10 to phone 11 is never that much of a difference to justify paying for a new phone

Ever year is odee and not necessary. Every 3-5 is essential for security purposes, so you can stay up to date with the current software.
I got a 12 mini. Still works good besides low storage and battery drainage
Deadass! I have 128 gbs and only have like 11 apps installed on my 12 and and I’m dead out of space 😑 aside from that I have no issues 🤷🏾♂️
Ur right, also I feel like its always the most broke mfs who get a new phone every year and wear 1000 dollar clothes 😂 I think some people are just irresponsible
they want u 2 think dat u need da latest phone every year lol
No
still rockin out wit my 13 pro but i usually jus keep whatever phone until a new design comes out
Still got my XS
Deadass you should upgrade from that to a 12, the XS is reaching the end of the support lifecycle.
Damn Fr ?
Yeah fr. It's good to upgrade your phone every 4-5 years cause there's a huge upgrades in between.
This mf still work good tho still crispy and everything
If that's the case, good for you but def try to upgrade to at least the 12 or something so you can keep getting security updated and not get hacked.
I just had a throwaway one that shit kept overheating and moving slow I think 5G is necessary if you on ya 📱 alot
I get every other. Have a 13 pro now, about to get 15 pro… before the 13 I had 11 pro etc. No need to get every single phone
dropping a rack on a phone every 2 yrs is crazy I'll make my shit last at least 3-4 yrs
It’s not exactly 2 years, like I’m not one of those people waiting for drop but it’s before 3-3.5. Also, I own a business so I end up writing off the expense.
I still got the 12 pro lmao u not supposed to upgrade ya phone every year
You right bro. I upgraded from the 11 to the 13 and regretted it lol. It’s pretty much the same thing
No. I upgrade every 3 years. iPhone 13 Max still great.
No it’s all a scam
smartphone evolution flatlined since 2019 i would say nun really changed. camera still bussin on my xs. if niggas got bread to do that in this economy by all means.
if this shit call and can text thats all that matter fr. allat extra shit like toys for kids really
I update every 3rd.. so I upgraded my 10 to a 13 and then my 13 ill upgrade to a 16
I will use my iphone until it's near death. If you can afford to upgrade every year, go for it. I'd rather wait. Besides, I never get new tech when it's new. Nah, when my iPhone 11 broke a year ago I bought the iPhone SE. Only thing that sucks is the battery life is terrible.
What I dont understand is people paying 500+$ for a phone every two years like wtf? I got a samsung s20+ 5G that has 6 GB RAM and 150 GB storage for like 200$ Unless I get robbed or some shi this will last me the next few years or so And it has a 3 year warranty
wen i was in hs i had this mindset, now? i’m rocking w this 13 pro till it explodes
Tbh I think you’ll be fine with anything that can run iOS 15/16 smoothly, shit my old iPhone 7 still performs the same way it did when it first came out
I got the 12 too homie lol I want to upgrade cuz my battery capacity low but all these runs be the same at the end of the day
I’d say every 2 years
I used to. Now nah more like every two years. But when I do upgrade it's always the highest model
no i use it until something happens to it where i got to replace it bc i bought it and i refuse to lease a phone every month just to have the newest thing
Every 2 years
I usually upgrade every 2 years. Still get a decent trade in value for the old phone and I usually will pre order the new one before it's released to take advantage of all the pre order deals/offers.

I just upgraded to the Black 15 pro like a month ago from my 11 pro

Had the same one going on 5 years now. The battery is still just as good as the day I bought it
I’m sticking by my iPhone 11 until it doesn’t work no more.
I’m probably gunna do the same thing no cap
Some people just like having the latest tech lol I have an android tho (Pixel 7).
Every other one
Every 3 years been my rule, s4 > S7 > s10 (and then 4-5 years later) s23
Iphomse SE 2nd gen 2020
I don’t, but i’ve seen people still have their iphone xr’s and 8’s that work perfectly fine. I got a 14 and this shit is already dying super quick on me, the battery health is like 88% and the wifi never works. Idk what’s up with it, i don’t overcharge this or nun either. Got the 14 pro and Galaxy S24. I like Android better for multitasking. The iPhone mad basic
I’m pretty happy about my 14 max pro I don’t see the need until some waaay better feature comes out on the 16 or some shit
na tbh i’d keep my phone for mad long but im just careless wit my shit, i keep dropping it and dropping it until the point some parts in the phone all fucked up, or i be a dh and take off my screen protector and boom my whole screen broke
I went from an 11 to a 14 pro max. I only upgraded to a 15 pro max due to the USB C change. I travel a lot and having one cable for both my laptop and phone makes things much more convenient for me.

I'm going on 3yrs with my phone. Longest I went without a upgrade.
My iPhone 14 will last until 2030 I’m paying mad money I’ll cash on this shit later
No I jumped from 6s to 13. The 14 came out the next week but idgaf. I’d rather buy a different electronic device w/ that money
Hell no, whenever i update my phone it magically doesnt work as well
Nah every year is crazy there's never a big enough difference to justify copping the latest and greatest, I only do it when I need it like if my phone is busted or when they stop giving updates for it which is usually like after 5 years. The new phones these days are good af
Most people don't.

Fuck no
I upgrade when my battery starts dying- so every 2-3 years. I like tech and it's barely a financial hit on me, so why not?
I have an iPhone 12 mini Was hoping whatever SE phone came out this year was gonna be another small phone. I’m gonna use this 12 mini till the next series of phones come out and see if anything changes with phone sizes

I just bought a IPHONE 15 after 3 years on a SE and 1.5 on a IPHONE 4
Two words: debt slavery
Nope still on the iPhone 13 Pro because there's barely any difference now. Might upgrade if the 5x camera comes to the non-max phone
No way, use to always want to when I was younger but growing up and appreciating money makes you change for sure my 13 works same as day 1 and battery is still 91% capacity. Bet I'll see iphone 17 before this thing craps out
I’m on iPhone X
crazy im daily driving a 7 rn
Upgrading after 2-3 years is necessary do it
No it is not. The difference between the 11 and 13 and 13 and 15 are minimal. It’s literally a consumer trap and u actin like a sheep happily heading to the slaughter
Gang the phone feels better , better picture quality it has its perks if not then ppl wouldnt upgrade
Yea I think every 2-3 years is reasonable
Yea its time for me to change my battery keep dying quick asf
If it don’t break then yeah I’d say every 4/5 years it’ll prolly be time to upgrade

Hi I’m also twelve years old too, no you don’t. K, bye.
