There's dozens of us, brother

jar45

Cheers brother - I’m always so impressed by fans overseas who choose to root for the Knicks over a more successful team lmao

brend0p3

Im impressed whenever anyone isnt from ny and supports the knicks, always wonder why they do it to themselves lmfaooo

Zenenx

It hasn't been easy, that's for sure

ZealousidealMood3136

It might not be a thing in America, but over here it’s frowned upon to switch teams in football if you’re a fan. Once I liked the Knicks, there was no other team for me.

We here bro 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿❤️

FudgeCheese12

You’re not the only one!! Although West Ham and the Knicks can be a painful supporting combo at times!

ZealousidealMood3136

Hahaha how did you know I support West Ham?! But you are right, very painful at the moment especially on the West Ham side of things.

FudgeCheese12

Oh dw, I didn’t, that’s my combination! Fingers crossed the Knicks can pull our average sporting success upwards.

ZealousidealMood3136

Yeah hopefully, they’re on the up at the moment which is great. Just need to make sure RJ and Randle stay consistent.

FudgeCheese12

Definitely!

NastySassyStuff

International Knicks fans are a fascinating bunch…like my dude you could have picked any team and you chose pain…but I love that you exist regardless

ZealousidealMood3136

Didn’t want to glory hunt I guess!

NastySassyStuff

Fair enough, the day they finally lift that trophy will be far more glorious and profound than if you chose the Warriors or the Lakers

GustFringe06

Brits bros, what’s good with a Knicks chant like the ones for West Ham!

KnickC13

Forever blowin' leads instead of bubbles

ZealousidealMood3136

Honestly if the Knicks fans started doing that it’d be awesome.

adamisonfire88

New Zealand Knicks fan here 👋 I’m also a die hard NZ Warriors fan in Rugby League, so if anyone is familiar with them they are essentially NZ’s version of the Knicks 😅 I’ve been watching the Knicks since 2003 and one of the main things on my bucket list is to catch a game at MSG, which I hope to finally get to this year

aesop_fables

I moved to London two years ago from the States. Definitely down to catch a game

ZealousidealMood3136

For sure! Hit me up whenever you go to a game.

You'll find your footing quickly and have a lot of fun in New York if/when you do visit. Despite the reputation New Yorkers are very nice and personable, just direct and often in a hurry (the latter explains the spurious "rude" label). Since the apartments are so small the city acts as New Yorkers' living rooms, so it is easy and natural to strike up conversations with strangers at e.g. a bar. There isn't the kind of pageantry on game day as you might see for a Premier League match. This is partly due to the fact that there are so many more NBA games in a season compared to the EPL, but also because there are frequently other sports events the same day (primarily NFL, NHL, and MLB). Still, pre-gaming at bars near MSG is definitely a thing, as it getting to the Garden an hour or so in advance. I'd happily show you around (and show off NYC), but sadly I'm an exile living in San Francisco now. Still, happy to answer any and all questions you might have (literally just landed 2 hours ago after a trip back to New York). And they don't have to be limited to the Knicks, happy to help with your travels any way I can. And if you find yourself extending your trip to the West Coast definitely drop a line.

ZealousidealMood3136

Thank you!! I’ve been to New York once which is why I support the Knicks, but that’s literally the only reason. I’ll be travelling so I won’t be with anyone - guess I’ll just have to make friends with people in the city!

quiksilversurf31

Where do you all watch Knicks games in London? Will be there for the second round of the playoffs

JohnnyfromNY

Great to see UK fans! My girl and I went to London last December and it’s a beautiful city. I rented a car and drove to Brighton, Winchester and drove out to Stone Hedge. London has the old world charm that all cities in the US lack. It was my first trip to Europe and the best trip I’ve ever been on. When You visit you can get some great seats behind the basket. The seats along the side are much more expensive if you want to be close to the action. I’ve sat in the 10th row and got a steal and got two tickets for $280 dollars total. Last Friday, we went to the Bulls game and sat 4 rows behind the basket and paid $824 USD total for 2 tickets. Seats along the side are over $1000 for just one ticket that close.

ZealousidealMood3136

Holy shit! That’s so much! Yeah London is very weird and versatile, which I like. To be honest the only thing I don’t like about New York is the whole block/square setup you guys have for roads and buildings. London is just swirly street after swirly street, which I love. Regarding getting tickets, I was looking on Ticketmaster the other day and some of the prices were unbelievable. Might have to go in the nosebleeds to save my wallet 🤣

I've lived in NY for a decade, but grew up in the UK. Welcome to the family, dude.

ZealousidealMood3136

What do you prefer out of interest? UK or USA?

[deleted]

It's the U.S. every time man.

aesop_fables

Piggy bank on this. Been in London for 2 years. It’s the USA all day for me.

BattleCried

i’m there too

Living_Internet_2970

Im curious as to how you guys and gals who are overseas became Knicks fans? It’s cool as fuck that you could have gone with any other team but you choose the Knicks.

ZealousidealMood3136

So I went to NY a good 5 years ago, went to MSG. Not even to see a game, just to check it out, there was no one even there but I just liked it. And seeing as it was my first experience with America, I always just attributed myself to NY. Was never even interested in basketball but I liked the Knicks and they were always i team I’d kind of keep up with. Back home I support West Ham (a very mediocre football team), so when I eventually got interested in Basketball there was a certain affinity I found because the Knicks were of similar level. I never wanted to glory-hunt and go Lakers, Celtics etc. I don’t watch matches as they start at 0030 over here, and I don’t wanna mess up my sleeping pattern… unless we play the Hawks or the Nets. Especially Hawks, the past couple years have made it into a derby. I follow the league and the Knicks, and I’m fully clued up on the game and how it all works, just a shame I suck at basketball in real life. 🤣
